    ONLY 2 Visa Exempt Entries by land per year!

    BREAKING NEWS;
    While I am loathe to cite the "other forum" they did break the news.

    It was posted in the Royal Gazette on Dec 1st that effective December 31st, 2016 people can ONLY get 2 visa exempt entries via a land border in a calendar year.

    I downloaded the RG posting and briefly read thru it. I can't see where it says anything about visa exempt entries by air being limited.

    Also it's not in effect for people who's countries border thailand either..

    Anyway, just wanted you goof-balls to know about it.

    I'm sure it's gonna throw the people living here on back-2-back visa exempt stamps garnered by "border-bouncing" off the rails..

    I guess it's a good thing that single entry tourist visas for thailand are free the world over until Feb 28th, 2017..

    Part of the crack down that tourists need to be genuine tourists and punters who want to stay here long term need to get proper Visas.

    Fair enough.

    Yep, fair enough I say. Tentatively, Thailand's moving in the right direction with regard to immigration.

    Just an FYI:
    When they abolished the "3 visa exempts in 180 days" rule they adopted the "countries which aren't G7 get only 15 days at land border crossings" rule.

    That will change tomorrow and all the countries which used to get a 15 day visa exempt entry at a land border crossing now get a 30 day visa exempt entry again.

    Here's the press blurb;

    Yes, indeed. Many thanks for your invaluable advise and opinions. A voice of sanity in a sea of confusion.
    All the best to you for 2017.

    Well observed!

    Now try to add up 2+2.
    Hint: no multio available in the UK, but in LOS.

    ^^ well observed. 90 days for 50 quid then off to Laos for a multi, or 60 days for nought then off to Laos for a multi.
    Since when can you get a multi o in LOS?

    stroller & barrylad66; Year long, multi-entry Non-Immigrant Type O visas are indeed still available from the thai embassy office in London, but not at any of the honorary consulates.

    FWIW: Since the middle of last year thai honorary consulates all over the world have been putting statements on their websites saying they can no longer issue multi entry visas and that you must use a "real thai consulate or embassy".

    Here's the blurb from Portland;

    All the honorary consulates in the US that people used to use for those multi-non-immigrant visas, like Denver, Coral Gables, Houston, Portland, Kansas, etc stopped doing them..

    stroller; sorry, but you have NEVER EVER been able to apply for a year-long multi-entry Non-Immigrant Type visa (of ANY kind) inside thailand..

    I believe you are confusing a year long extension of stay with a multiple re-entry permit (garnered inside the country) with a year-long, multi-entry Non-Immigrant Visa (garnered at a thai consulate or embassy outside the country).
