Yes, you can extend a Visa exempt stamp for another 30 days and an immigration office for 1900 Baht

and did they ask for any other documentation ? flight ticket etc ?

I get 30 days with pomey passport, I be coming back on an a new Oz passport, see if theres a difference then!

Mai Sod and Mai Sai do 30 days and CNX Office but what a Root that was!
I prefer a drive in the Country any day than sitting in a shopping centre in CMX!

Can you go in the afternoon there and still get it done in time?...They're closed for lunch from 12 'til 1, I know...What if you show up at 2?...Will they have it done by 4:30 pm closing time?...

Since the 1st of September 2015 out at Chaengwattana they stop giving out queue numbers at 3:30.
BUT
Anyone inside with a queue number gets served that day.
Even though the place 'technically' closes at 4:30, some of those sections are still serving people well after 6PM!!

Get there before 3:30 and you'll get served. In addition to the TM.7 form, make SURE you have the correct copies;

• data (picture) page of passport
• current entry stamp
• TM.6 departure card

Write your phone number on the TM.7 under where you glue your photo onto it

Everyone (by that I mean most white people) can get a 30 day extension on either a 15 or a 30 day visa exempt stamp entry.

Entering by air with either a brit or an Oz passport you'll get a 30 day visa exempt stamp.

It's ONLY entering via the land borders which give 30 day visa exempt stamps for countries which are G7, and 15 for everyone else...

BTW: G7 countries are Canada, France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Japan, and the USA.

my grandaughter is coming out to los 4th july. emails me this morn , sudenly realises she has no visa. question. does she get one on arrival. or must she get it in uk. thank u.

Whether or not she encounters a problem rather depends on the duration of her proposed visit. If she is ticketed for a jaunt of two months in Thailand then her carrier may require she holds a visa or, at the very least, confirmation of onward travel departing Thailand within 30 days of arrival. They could deny boarding otherwise.

They are NOT obliged to.

It's totally up to the airline if they'll let you board a plane for thailand without a visa in your passport.

That's for one reason ONLY, if you're denied entry into the glorious "Land 'O Thaiz" the airline foots the bill back to where ever you came from.

Yes, so effectively airlines have the responsibility to pre-screen passengers or bear the cost of taking them back.

Correct.. Still I know a lot of people who've flown in sans visa without a return ticket and never had the airline bat an eye at them when they checked in.

Still we know that passengers has been denied boarding without a return ticket so in the end it is about if you want to take the chance or not.

Yes, it happened to me years ago.
They let me check-in for the first leg of the journey after an argument, and I foolishly thought I might be luckier getting on the onwards flight there... but they had already blacklisted me for the flight.
Then the idiot at the counter refused to sell me a return ticket (less than 30 days), he insisted I'd need a visa for that, too.

Not a pleasant experience.
Mind you, the food on the first leg onboard Air France was excellent.

I normally buy a return ticket, with the return always being more than six weeks later, and sometimes more than two months later, and I've never been questioned about it. I always enter Thailand on a visa exemption, and either spend a few days in Lao, Cambodia or Vietnam on a visa run, or go to immigration for an extension, or both.

I fly out of ATH, and use Gulf (when they flew to Athens) or Qatar. To be honest, it never even occurred to me that it might be a problem to fly without a visa.
