    Sorry in advance I know this isn't the appropriate thread BUT;

Has anyone tried to pull a year-long multi-entry Non-Immigrant Type-O visa at the Thai Embassy in Yangon Myanmar for being married to a thai national or supporting thai kids?

In perusing their website it doesn't appear to be overly complicated or all that perilous paperwork-wise. Other than them only taking crisp US currency for payment it seems as straightforward as Savannakhet.

Just wondering was all. The time points on flights to get to Yangon from Bangkok and back are pretty good for the window of opportunity to turn in an app for a visa and pick it up the following day before flying out.. Allegedly you can get buy a visa on arrival at the Yangon Airport but everything I've read says go get your visa first, so I'm still unclear on that. They seem to have an 'e-visa' online program too.

Just spit-balling here, tryin' to find a viable place for people to go is all.. Thanx for any info.. Again, sorry, I know this thread is about Savannakhet NOT Yangon..

Agree, great question Todd. It would be worthwhile to test the waters. Too bad I just received my 1 year multiple O, or I would give it a shot.

U can NOT buy a visa on arrival for Myanmar,
u can apply ONLINE for a pre approved visa which cost ya $50, Myanmar eVisa (Official Government Website)
I have done it 3 times this year
i am heading back over tuesday

very inexpensive to fly over on air asia or nok, u can find places to stay in Yangon for $30 an up

    quick desperate questions.
Went to Mai sai today and was refused an extra 90days on my multi entry, so I need to leave Thailand in the morning. Read a lot of stuff - going to Savannakhet, what currency would I use, what is the Laos visa on arrival cost. Can I get fotos at Don M or suitable place in Lao.

    Thanks in Ann Tisipation.

    What are your dates, precisely?
Chiang Kong bridge may well be your best bet.
    Rock up,
    Bus across the bridge
    Do the Lao bit
    Bus back
    into LOS.
I've done it with an overstay and nobody cared.

    Good luck.

No reason, I tried to talk to him but he was not letting my go out thru Mai sai.
He had a nice friendly smile - I wasnt sure if that was because he was a friendly guy, or because he knew I was stuffed with only 2 days on the visa.

No problems will go to Savannakhet via Bangkok and Mukdahan.

Never thought about making a trip of it by doing the slow trip down the river !!!

roger77; IF your VISA, (NOT your current 90 day permission to stay until stamp) isn't expired, there should have been NO problem exiting and re-entering to garner another 90 day permission to stay until stamp..

Are you sure you're visa isn't expired? I've read no reports at this time of ANY land border refusing exiting and re-entering with a valid visa. Last month yes, but no NO not a single report now.

How about you post when you got the visa and what is the "must use by" date (stamped on the visa itself)?

That just doesn't make sense. Even though the borders to Burma up north are harder than others, IF you have a valid visa it should have worked.

Something isn't right with this story.

Believe me, you ain't the first foreigner on a year long multi-O who got the dates mixed up and burned themselves from pulling 15 months out of that visa.

The good news is that type of visa can still be had in either Savannakhet or Vientiane pretty darned easily..

    Good Luck man...

    Well Im home !
Went to Sava, got my 12months with no problem.
Gave copies of marriage- both pretty one and formal one,
Copy passport, copy wife ID yellow and blue book, letter from wife, the application form and 5000Baht. Wasnt asked for any more, quick look thru and got my number, As the next day was a holiday they processed them the same day. there was a huge crowd there .

In all the years I have traveled and then lived here this is really the first real muck up and it was my mistake, I have always found Chiangrai/Maesai immigration to be polite and helpfull so was flustered when I didnt understand the refusal.
Next year will plan a little better.

OKay, so you brand spanking new year long multi-entry Non-Immigrant Type-O visa should have an "enter before" about a day short of one calendar year from the date you applied for it.

Even though this example is from Savannakhet it's the same type.. You can see it was issued on 28 Oct 2014 and has an ENTER BEFORE date of 27 Oct 2015. That is the drop dead date.

To pull 15 months outta your visa you need to "run-4-the-border" or "border-bounce" BEFORE that date.. I read a report of someone bouncing on the exact date and they were refused because it says ENTER BEFORE, not enter by this day.

    Good Luck...
