    Possibly new news;

I just talked to another visa run company (which is a far bigger ball 'o wax than the other two I'd previously talked with).

The owner said today he's got 41 people going to the Burma border (the one out Kanchanaburi way) and it is business as usual; a 30 day stamp for G7 countries and a 15 day stamp for everyone else.

No O/I (out/in) stamps, no counting existing visa exempt stamps in your passport, no nothing, just like it always has been.

The guy said, "Don't believe everything you read in the papers."

I'd trust this guy's information more than the other two, just by the fact that he's been in business a long, LONG time.

That's all the news I got, and I am sorry if it's conflicting information..

I guess we're gonna hafta wait and see if people who actually did a border-bounce to weigh in on how it went for them..

Just one of the reasons Mexico is more pleasant than Thailand. Who wants to live somewhere where you're not wanted? I mean with a small fortune in the bank, a business, or a Thai wife, you're good.

I do border runs and get 6 months for 25usd. I brought my car too. The language, apart from being sweet to the ear, is easy to learn. The food is great. The rent is cheap. The girls are pretty .. and best of all they're Christians; they may lie but they'll at least feel bad about it.

If you think there's someone waiting behind a bush to behead you you're waaaay wrong.

People are nice. They'll go out of their way to assist you.

I've lived here for 30 years. I lived in Thailand for seven. This is my home. If the visa regulations went south I'd be outa here. I don't want to be where I'm not wanted.

I have no idea but I doubt they are any different. Unless the Free Trade Agreement comes into play. There are plenty of Euros and Asians here tho.

If golf was cheaper I'd head to Mexico in a heartbeat. Vacationed there 8 times and always enjoyed the people, climate, food etc. After almost 5 years Thailand is wearing thin quickly. I'm looking for a realistic option.

It amazes me how long term expats come up with such emotional bullshit.

It is no big deal to obtain a proper Visa, just jump a cheap flight to a neighboring country and get one in the process having a little holiday .

You guys will have something to bitch about when Thailand starts charging $25 US for a 30 day Visa just like Bali does.

Years ago Bali did not charge for a Visa then all of a sudden changed the rules and we now pay $25 US for 30 Days and then pay again to extend for another 30 days in Country.

Everyone cried like a bitch when we Had to pay the Visa fee.

    What happened ?

Nothing happened except everyone coughed up the money and no one stopped coming because of the shitty little $25 which most spill over the bar at night.

Exactly the same will happen in Thailand, the Visa running scum will now get a proper Visa.

If not they will not stay in Thailand.

    Who really cares ???

Jesus, I use my 90 day renewal to go on a little holiday.

    Friggin great here in Bali.

^^ Aussies get 6 months visa exemption.
There is a (4 x 1) year temporary resident visa, or over 50 for a retirement visa.
    Income requirement is USD 2,100
No idea of their attitude to border running.

So Camel Toe is doing the visa runs as he does not meet the income requirement? He sure meets the age qualification and more.

Erm, not quite sure to make of that post.

I do like Singapore but cant sing for shit.

I do like wandering but if it becomes tiresome I'll just get a retirement visa .

In the mean time I'll just enjoy going for a little Holiday every 90 days by paying piss all for an Air Asia flight.

Maybe I'll go out tonight, down a shit load of Guinness, get pissed up and read the above post again.

Maybe I could sort it out then maybe ?

In Mexico there is no income requirement, stupid shit. But what you're really trying to say is your income is higher than mine. That's what a desperate self-esteem causality you are. Besides, whatever value gains you have is in your wife's name. Sad pussy-whipped fuk.
