    Not to pick nits but. . .

    It is "heard it from a friend, who; heard it from a friend, who; heard it from another you were messin' around", err sorry that's an REO Speedwagon song..

    I mean it's vague info like this which makes people pull out what hair they have wondering about this or that visa rumor.

    My question(s) to the O/P would be;
    How would the Thai Embassy in Madrid know what's what about a visa run to Cambodia?

    By your post am I to take this to mean;
    • you can't run to the Cambodian border and get say a second entry on a double entry tourist visa?
    • you can't run to the Cambodian border and get another 90 day stamp on a year long Non-immigrant Type-O visa?
    I think the O/P should check with his 'mate' and see exactly what's what. Then report back with a little more than I heard that. .. .

    Better yet, here's the email for the Royal Thai Embassy in Madrid;
    madthai@temb.e.telefonica.net
    Send 'em an email and let us know..

    OK.
    Let me explain.
    The info that I obtained is from a Expat old timer much like myself.
    I.ve done maybe 40 visa runs so the news was a surprisse and hard to believe.
    I was looking for someone who had just done a run perhaps to re new a tourist visa obtained from the uk perhaps.
    Also someone is saying they're charging 500 baht now to get into the country....
    Think that might just be the visa agents at the border though.

    Hi

    On the 13th this month I went to Cambodia ( border) to get another 90 day entry.

    I have a non imm O

    not sure if that helps.

    The agent I use was asked a bit more money than before for my entry in to Cambodia but I think that was down to the Cambodia agent being " cheeky"

    The 500 baht "fee" was just some proposed b/s a government official thought up and voiced. There's been NOTHING passed or even tabled for this other than what the person who thought it up said.

    "Public Health Minister Pradit Sintavanarong said yesterday that related agencies were discussing the plan to charge tourists a separate fee for entering the country - possibly Bt500 for a three- to 30-day stay and Bt30 for less than three days. He said once a conclusion is drawn, it will be proposed to the Cabinet.
    It's much like the "mandatory health insurance" for foreigners entering Thailand scare which turned out to be nothing but some official talking out of their arse.

    Sheesh "the dogcatcher" 40 visa runs? WTF, you're not one of those people who live here on perpetual tourist visas are you?

    Even if you were on a year long multi-entry Non-Immigrant Type-O visa where you leave the country every 90 days to get another 90 day stamp, and where you'd get almost 15 months of stay out of the year's visa; you'd hafta have been "running for the border" every 90 days for 10 years!

    I've found those expat old-timers about useless for honest to goodness reliable information.. But that's just my experience with them.

    As an aside;
    Wanna get around the "agents" when you visa run to Cambodia use the "E-Visa" online system. It's almost the same price as paying an "agent". You get your own line at the border which NEVER has anyone in it. Plus it doesn't take up a page of your passport with their visa sticker either. All you get is the entry/exit stamp. Google it and see. While it's not accepted at every border crossing, it's accepted at Poi Pet no problem.

    Why would u use an agent for a 90- day entry?? all u do is show up at the Cambodian border, buy the visa, and than get stamped in and come back and get stamped out.

    Just did a 90 day entry for the gf in Malaysia yesterday, ( south of Satun) same as always

    I 100% guarantee that Camboda will never not allow someone to pay $20 to enter thier country!!!

    NEWS FLASH there "beerlaodrinker" the O/P is talking about the fact he heard you can't do visa runs to Cambodia.

    It would appear from your post that you're getting a tourist visa for Cambodia in Vientiane Lao PDR.. Ease up on that Beer Lao or switch to Beer Leo, things won't be so muddy for you. . .

    So in other words, we still have no clue what the "mate" of the O/P was on about..

    Guess the O/P never bothered to email the Embassy in Madrid and ask them either?

    The mind wobbles...
