    I'm after that book (in English) that shows you how to turn rocks into gold and old women into young nymphomaniac virgins. Apparently they keep them close to each other so let me know when you find the one you're looking for.

    The problem is albert is that the book is the law, someone has to sit down and turn that law into a set of requirements and workflows....

    Thai law being the draconian beast it is, if you make a mistake in doing this, then in principle no matter how inocent or minor this mestake is you are looking at loss of pension, job and prison time. the principle being someone bigger than you deciding they they want to make your life miserable.

    Thus nobody wants to do this work and they just push it down the food chain until it hits someone who cannot do this, usually the office chief. This is why dispite their being a single set of laws, every office in the country end up doing the job differently. For reasons I have already mentioned above going in and telling them that they have got it wrong and showing them where is unlikely to help you no matter how right you are..... unless you can convince them that you can and will go though the administrative court.

    thus the law is somewhat meaningless, the best option is to go and ask the people who do what you want.... what they want and need to give you what you want. If they say no, just try a different office or if you can ask someone a few layers above these chaps to do you a favor.

    mid might eb able to point you in the right direction

    Just curious. How easy is it to get a USA/UK et al. equivalent of the book you want here, in a foreign language.

    I dunno that anyone has bothered to translate the gun regs into English as the restrictions on "white people" owning guns here is quite limiting. The visa rules aren't "laws" but dictated on orders of the Royal Thai Police.

    This link from Tilleke & Gibbins Law Firm has a pretty close English translations ;
    http://www.immigration.go.th/nov2004...77-2551_en.pdf

    FWIW: here's the Thai version too;
    http://www.immigration.go.th/nov2004...77-2551_th.pdf

    There are some subtle differences in the two translations. Most notably is the use of the word "retirement" in the English version of visa rules concerning people over 50. The Thai version doesn't even use their word for "retire" เกษียณ. Instead in Thai they say กรณีใช้ชีวิตในบันปลาย (roughly; "in the instance of living out the end of your life"). It sure made it tough to get a Work Permit from the MOL with a god-damned stamp in my passport which said "retirement" in English. It took a LOT of pushing to get it done here in Bangkok, whilst up in Chiang Mai, they don't even look twice at it. Different areas different interpretations of the law...

    Sorry I don't have the gun regs, although that Thai Law Online site is a pretty good place to start. The thing is because Thai is so "open to interpretation" when its translated into English. At the end of the day ANY English translation ain't gonna be worth the paper it's written on seeing as the official language is Thai.

    Still good luck,
