    Divorcing. Non-O Visa Status?

I have just done a quick search and couldn't find the info.

My mate just told me he's getting a divorce next week and he's currently on a Non-O through marriage.

If he gets a divorce, does his visa entitlement stop straight away and he has to get a new visa or can he simply use the Non-O until it expires?

    Cheers.

Only guessing here but i'd presume the local amphur office where they will get their marriage annulled don't contact immigration, so i'd guess he has nothing to worry about on his current visa, but he may have a problem obtaining a new O visa when his current one expires if he is required to produce his marriage cert.

    Who would tell?

Certainly not him....but maybe the scorned wife?

If no one squeals, he should be good until his next renewal. When is that?

I don't know if it's an extension or multiple entry. Does it matter?

If he's got kids with her, then their birth certificates and copies of their tabien bahn could be used for his next extension of stay.

Technically yes, it does make a difference.
However he will be OK to carry on until his permission to stay expires unless immigration find out.
Try and avoid contact with immigration until he gets another visa/extension

That's not the sort of power I'd want to entrust to a recently divorced exwife...
