    Thailand Long Stay

I will be traveling to thailand on a multiple entry non immigrant visa and will be here 9 months minimum i was wondering what sort of plane ticket i can purchase from brisbane with flexible return date as i don't want to be locked into a specific return date.
I have checked with a few airlines but the fares seem too expensive.

I returned here with a non-immigrant visa last month and I only bought a one-way ticket.
The only person who commented on that was the JetStar employee at the check-in at Tullamarine. He said that when I arrive in Bangkok they mightn't let me into the country because I don't have a return ticket. I think he was just trying to make me buy a return leg ticket prior to leaving Aust.
When I arrived in Bangkok no-one made any comment about it.

You can fly into Thailand with a one way ticket if you have a multiple entry visa no problem. just book your flight out when you need to. The Jetstar guy is talking out his backside. Without a visa they will not let you get on the plane never mind being denied entry at BKK.
Treat everyone as a complete and utter idiot and you can only ever be pleasantly surprised !

^ I don't have a multiple entry visa, just a non-immigrant visa which is valid for three months but which I'll get a 1 year extension based on meeting retirement conditions.
Still got in with a one way ticket.

P.S. Bobo, I found Jetstar to be the cheapest. Although I did pay extra to increase my check-in luggage to 25kgs, I didn't order a meal however (just carry on some sandwiches). I think my ticket was about $400.

I have checked with a few airlines but the fares seem too expensive.

buying single tickets is expensive, usually

buy a return ticket with a date of around 10 months - when you know when you want to return, go to the airline office and change it

a lot of airlines don't charge for that, a few charge something low-ish

if you want to stay more than one year, I think you will have to buy singles
    I have reported your post

I have always wondered what would happen if i tried to enter Thailand with a single ticket.

I'm a very casual laid back person, i don't like planning my holidays, just go with the flow. I'd love to just get a one-way ticket and buy a return when i'm ready to return home with no pressure.

Usually, open ended return tickets with a 1 year validity are more expensive than return tickets that are good for say 3 months. For a long stay, a one way ticket gives you the option of staying longer than a year , presuming you have a
non imm multi, which will do for 15 months at a stretch.
