This is the most up to date info I could find.

    Announcement

Closure of the Royal Thai Consulate in Perth

The Royal Thai Embassy in Canberra wishes to announce the closure of the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Perth, effective from 18 October 2010 onwards until further notice. Consequently, all visa applications and consular matters should be directed to the Royal Thai Embassy in Canberra.

^^ Brig. Bill Jamieson (the former Consul in Perth) must be pushing 90 by now - top bloke. His Thai connexion was that he contributed to the military training of the Crown Prince in his youth.

For general stuff, best try the owner of Dusit Thai restaurant located towards western end of James St, Northbridge or the Thai Airlines Perth manager. Both well connected .

No consulate in Perth anymore which is a total pain in the arse as the place had brilliant staff and was never a hassle for visas.

    Oh well move on.

I should have mentioned i have never been there my problems with them was when i applied for visas by post, my guess is that they must be Thais because some of the things they want me to supply could only be thought up by a Thai.

Been dealing with the consulate in Perth regards gaining a retirement Visa.

Unfortunately they cannot issue it, must apply to Canberra.

Besides that the staff have been very helpful at all times.

Some people seem to create their own problems.

    Are they Thais or farangs?

The staff in the Perth consulate old and new have always been Farang. Thais do not work in Consulates in Perth.

Actually the young girl who handles the front desk of the Perth Thai Consulate is polite, knowledgeable and very helpful.

    A pleasure to deal with.

They don't make shit up, you either met the requirements of the particular consulate or apply at another consulate or Embassy.

    Easy as that really.

I've just gained my O-A through the Canberra Embassy, Jesus what an epic journey but I did it.

Had to meet every little thing they asked for and every thing had to be spot on or it would of been denied.

Did I cry about the procedure ?

Not at all, just provided exactly what they wanted and it was no problem.

Took a bit of time but I have time.

The Thai Consulate in Perth has always been user friendly.

The old one would issue Multi Entry on a heart beat, the front staff were excellent same as the new one.

If one feels they are hard done by at the Perth consulate they should give the game away.

Like I said in the previous post I applied for a visa by post as I live in Kalgoorlie, and as you have said the staff at the previous consulate were excellent to deal with and in agree they were great never had a problem with them.
I'm sure the front staff at the consulate are very polite but its the person who issues the visas who makes all the decisions on your application that can give you a hard time.

First time I applied for a single entry tourist visa using the application form from the Thai embassy website never had a problem.

Second time I applied for a double entry tourist visa using the same form they sent the application back because I didn't use the Perth consulate form for the application, there is no difference between the two forms apart from letter head at the top of the form saying Thai embassy Canberra, and it is not possible to download a Perth consulate form on the net.(They set me a Perth consulate form when they sent all the previous forms back)

Third time I applied for a double entry tourist visa they sent me an email saying that I had to make statutory declaration saying I under stood the requirements of a double entry visa even though I had used a double entry visa in the same passport. I have never overstayed on any visa that I have entered Thailand on in the past forty three years. I rest my case.

Considering you live in Kalgoorlie why did you not just pick up the phone and sort all this shit out. ?????

    Just saying like.

Jesus, its not like you're on the other side of the world.

i have tried that with the Perth embassy and after finally speaking to some man i went to the embassy and was told that i was given the wrong information.
i gave them the number i called, from the website , and i was told that " no man work here". the number was correct as they verified it.

also a friend in Perth mailed his application to them, due to work commitments, and had it sent back incomplete as he did not provide two copies of his passport.

it s a shame that they have not heard of this new invention called a bloody photocopier !

Mate you just do not get how things work with Consulates or Embassies.

When you post your shit to them it must be 100 % spot on exactly as it says in the application form.

Any mistake and they send it back, its not their job to correct applications.

They make no allowances for morons who cannot read the instructions when most other applicants can and do complete the application form correctly.

    Easy as that.

sure i can fully appreciate that but when you get told something over the phone by the embassy and then follow their instructions , and then it gets sent back ?

i am not saying that we didn't follow instructions its just that some embassies are easier to deal with than others.

I do realize you don't like to hear that but it actually works that way.

Abuse me all you like but if you submit an incomplete Visa application it will bounce right back.

Try fronting up at any Embassy with a sub standard application and you will be sent away to sort it.

Punters who cannot read or understand basic application forms waste the Embassies time, they just don't bother with them.

    Easy as that really.
