double entry tourist visa at phnom penh

just been for a short break to take a few mates to cambodia for thier first time, also 2 of them wanted a 2 x entry tourist visa as no longer welcome in vientiene.

cheap flight air asia about 4000 bhat 1 way.

we made enquires with some of my mates over there first and booked in to a cheap charlie hotel the paragon, right on the tonle sap riverside in the heart of pp, rooms were 18 dollars up.

passports were handed into the guy in the travel shop about 4 doors down, (90 dollars for 2 x tr ) the guy handed them in monday morning and were back the same evening as he said, and we fly out bangkok airways tuesday morning 9.40 flight 130 dollars which we booked with him, as he could change the flight if any problems, whereas air asia ya get nothing.

hope this helps anyone, if any questions etc or ya need any no's etc pm me ill do ma best.

Nice report, thanks. Good to know 2xTR is available there.

Your flights were on the expensive side, AirAsia is 4000-5000 return except in peak periods.

thanks, that says it all about air asia, there just rubbish when anything is not 100% how they want it.
we booked the day before which never helps but 1 lad had to be out.

i was however supprised at bangkok airways, last time i think i checked they were about double??

i think the good thing at this moment is you can fly, you dont have to stay at the border for 2 nights like a convict.

and altho you must still go thro an agent its woth that extra couple of quid just so no 1
you dont have to get a taxi to embassy/consulete
    no 2
you dont have to fill all the form in and que up at embassy
    no 3
you get it back the same evening alowing you less nights there if needed
    no 4
no return taxi and que at the embassy the next day to get it all back.

    well worth it.

now the only trouble with this is, you would think it would teach the people at Laos embassy to smarten up a bit, but it wont, when they did it over pennang, pennang did change back and wasnt even bothered.

i have to say we will never understand thier reasoning.

There's no double entry visa for Cambodia.

If you have one in your passport it's fake.

    Fact.

we're off to PP next month, bought tickets in an AA sale in December, paying an outrageous 580 baht per person return. The airport fees totalling 990 baht are the highest cost of the flights.

We're there a week I'm ok to do the embassy visit myself if req'd, but if someone does have a reliable agent please PM me.

Why do you not just put the information on the thread if it could be useful to other people? Strange buggers some of you lot.

    Apologies, Fun Fun,

As I'm guessing this comment was aimed at me, so here goes
Returned from PP last night, can confirm 2x entries are available.
Used travel agent called Asia Travel Corner, located on St 63, first block between Sihanouk Blvd & St 278.
    Cost of visa $70
Agent fee $15 (drop passport off in the morning, collect the next afternoon. Was quoted $5 for the 3/4 day wait).
    Cheers

Nah mate, they didn't ask anything. But I did actually ask on my previous visit if the Thai embassy would start to kick up a fuss if I had too many TV's in my passport. They said no, can get as many as you want.

But hey, we all know this can change in an instant...

You been here long? Things change on a whim. Besides, if your plan is to stay in Thailand on tourist visas for the next three years, then I think you should re-evaluate your plan.

"we all know this can change in an instant."

too right, i go quite a lot over there so i always like to keep up on the visa news as some comming with me will possibly need one anyways.

the only thing with using an agent is you dont get to see people at the embassy's and find out whats happening/gossip/stamped etc etc.

thats why i started the thread, but sometime's you wonder why did i bother at least it was helpful to you.

    back last night, used:

Mr Keo at LMN Travel & Tours (near Paragon Hotel), 221 Sisowath, Phnom Penh

for 2x Tourist Visa, was there a week so no hurry, dropped off passport Sunday evening on way to hotel from airport, suited me to collect Weds morning, am unsure if he did one or two-day service. Fees as per earlier posts, US $70 for visa charges, $18 for agent. Easy.

A cheap trip re travel costs, had tickets from an Air Asia sale early this year 290 baht each way plus airport tax. All on time, no complaints.

The US $25 airport tax payable at PP is being phased out in terms of paying it at the airport - and is now charged/paid when you book your flight. Think this relates to all tickets bought since April.

    Thanks for this info.

I was wondering what this new 700 odd Baht charge was when booking with Air Asia. Thought it was them being greedy, but good to hear it's actually the departure tax.

^ I haven't booked recently - that info just from the guy at the counter (who will soon be out of a job) - they check your ticket info to see when you booked/paid - whether you have pre-paid or not. Seemed most had as there was no queue.

Actually a little humour at Cambodian immigration, man at the counter looked at my passport and said "oh yes, i remember you from your last trip" a slight pause then "I see you have a new girlfriend this time, what happened to the other one?" looked at my partner's face and fell about laughing. Oh well, makes his day more fun I suppose; of course I was then questioned about my last solo trip . . .

more notes: I use an e-Visa each time, saves a full page of the passport and a little time; from our flight only two other people had e-Visas, everyone else in the queue
