They tell you the 'same day return' stamp is 500B. You laugh, tell them fuk off, demand his name, in Thai
That's pretty much all you got to do, pull out a pen and starting asking for names if they go on about it. I find English works better with Cambodian officials though.

What if they can't speak Thai? I guess most of them working at the border can understand the basics though.

    and balls.

unfortunately westerners are conditioned to connect 'official uniform, government job and helpfulness', with 'someone who generally won't lie to your face in order to steal the eyes from your sockets while conversing with you'.

    It's really western culture's fault.

As I got a retirement visa, I never needed visa runs. Looks like a lot of shit. Anyway, I have got a good wife from Sisaket province who speaks Thai, and Cambodian as well, when needed.

Gerbil, they ask for photos but they don't need them, I'm telling u they are cheeky fuckers. I mentioned to them that I didn't have any pics as I've always given them one before and he said "No photo, no problem..100bt" So muggins hands over yet more cash!! You know what visa runs are like, just wanna get the bastard out the way.
1000 baht for the visa (well, that's what I paid, anyhow).

Good luck with the ol gambling mate.

Just don't go near the folk that try to assist you getting through the border...thats where the extra costs are incurred...I call it 'scum money'.

I don't think you will need a Cambodian visa, I'm sure the casinos are in the no man's land imbetween. You will have to exit Thailand and reenter Thailand though.

Anybody else know the deal here for sure?

There were to arab dudes in the queue with me who went over soley to use the casino's and they had to get visa's. Who knows, they might've been ripped too.

    Cambodia - It's one big "?"

Only saw 1 other falang the whole time I was there, probably due to the fact that this crossing is not much serviced by public transport .
That's the one i've been using from Buriram for the last few years. Poipet but milder. They used to have a sign on the visa booth on the Cambodian side quoting fees, and it was 800 for a tourist,1,000 for another jobby, so went for the 800 tourist. They've taken it down now! didn't say fuxck off for the same day return fee crap at the stamp out booth, just a sharp "NO", which was received with a knowing smirk and an "OK then, piss off you tight farang git" stamp.

Now I read its been 500 Baht all along...what a twat I am! Stung anyway!

I think they would've been. You get directed to the Cambodian visa office in no man's land when you exit Thailand, but you have to walk past all the casinos before you get into Cambodia itself.

I think you can avoid getting the visa completely, even if they did try to make you get it, I see no need. You will not at any point have to enter their country.

I was told you'd be turned back when reentering Thailand because you had not entered another country if you tried that?

That's worth considering, but you would have exited Thailand, so surely can enter again?

You could try it, and if they don't let you reenter then get a cambodiam visa and cross the border and come back.

Pretty sure you'd need an exit stamp from another country before reentering...

^ So is it really only 500 baht for the visa? Why have I been paying 800 and 1000 for the last 3 years like a twat? The sign, when they had it, til they took it down, even quoted those prices...are you lot sure it's just 500.

Thai stamping in bloke checks the stamp out and in every time, I clocked it! Still worth a try I s'pose. What can they do but send you back for the cambodian stamp? Can shrug the shoulders and say 'me stupid twatty farang twat who no bleedin understand, krap" imagine they have a deal with cambodian matey with twats like me overpaying and their due split.
