Ed. Visa vs. Imm B? MSU

An immigrant B visa & work permit would cancel out an Educational visa correct? Or would I retain an Educational Visa and simply add the work permit?
I would like to attend university but would also like to work. What is the typical scenario for this situation?

I am very interested in attending University in Mahasirakham but am trying to figure out how many schools in that area have an EP. Not all school have this correct? Certainly if all schools are funding an English program the search is easy using google to locate all government & private schools. Anyone know how to find out?

The university in Maha does not have an international program. Schools use EP and some universities have an international program. You may not work on an ed visa.

Not sure that's entirely correct. The rules do change all the time though. I studied at Bangkok University (International College) for my BBA. I had the the Non-Imm ED visa for 4 years 2006-2010. I worked from the first year and had no trouble getting a work permit on the ED visa. However, it could be linked to what work you are doing, my job is marketing. I don't think you could get a teaching job on an ED visa, due to the teachers license requirement (unless you already held a degree).

If you want to study around Bangkok I would recommend you look at: Bangkok Uni (BUIC), Mahidol (MUIC), ABAC and if you're loaded Chula.

Hope that helps, good luck to you.

No offense, but I think perhaps you are misinformed.

As far as the visa itself, I do indeed hold a degree currently. The way I imagined it to work is I could have an Ed visa due to the fact that I will be a student, then simply acquire the work permit and use it over the ed visa rather than non imm b. The important thing is that I have the work permit I would imagine, what visa it is sitting on I wouldn't think would matter much.

I guess the bigger question I have is if I do not get an ed visa and go forward with a non-imm. B visa, could I still attend Uni?

I really didn't mean to cause any offense. The only reason I might have sounded over-confident is because I have been asking the program director questions about their international program the past few weeks.

Will attending Uni force me to get an educational visa or does that not matter?

You can enroll at uni if you're here for work purposes but you cannot work if you have educational visa. You should get a Non-Immigrant Visa Category “B” visa before you enter Thailand. After entering, you will need to apply for a work permit.
