    Best online Masters degree

Which is it for teaching English as a second language..or third. And, which is best for getting a teaching license for teaching in the States. I want a degree that will allow me to work as an American teacher in overseas international schools. I was thinking of taking a term off to chill in Thailand at my home and perhaps doing a CELTA. Now, I'm thinking of taking a full year and doing an online Masters. Doing it in the countryside of 4 different countries. 3 mo Cambodia, 3mo Vietnam, 3mo Lao and the final 3 mo in Burma. Hopefully, I'll be able to bring my truck into each of these countries from Thailand and can have some 4X4 fun on the side.

I reckon this might be the plan.

The Thais seem to frown on group scenes. Dunno what it's like in Cambodia and others.

I dont think any online degree is the best for this, to be able to teach in the top schools, and overseas, they generally want you to have obtained some teaching experience and practice in schools.

    funny innit?

Framingham State College has a relatively painless course that is taught in BKK over 16 months. 8 x 1 week classes and 1 online course. It gets you an M.Ed in International Education.

They also have a fully online M.Ed in Curriculum and Instruction

If you want to specifically teach ESL try University of Missouri, they have a decent online masters.

Anybody know any scuttlebutt about university of Phoenix? Their program is pretty cheap and ostensibly well accredited.

Also, I hear there are a some programs here in thailand at the local high school or public library on the weekend that are pretty decent. If you are even remotely fluent in thai and can drop some money on the professors, it is possible to "make it work". (Oh, and I didn't mean bribes, I meant payment for "Special" lessons.)

Doing an MA in EFL/ESL is a joke. If you need the qualification, do it anywhere that's cheap and acceptable but, from an academic point of view, the 'degrees' are just ridiculous.
