Steve was visiting his family 1 month before he interviewed and did the demo at this school.

Lung cancer is not quick. It's a slow process in dying (sad to say).

I know a couple people that got lung cancer and died, and they knew it was coming (again, sad to say).

If you fly to interview and demo for a job, and you don't get it, you either:

1. leave, go somewhere else

2. stay in that town/city, and find another living arrangement and job.

^I was referring to the fact that AUA does not ask for criminal record checks, and John Wrenshall the Canadian teacher (his mentor) was not asked.

As low as AUA pays, it is still popular, yet still needs to fill spaces. It's a language center.

I think they'd only do the background checks if it was mandatory and enforced by the authorities.

The much-maligned Teacher's License should require a CBC, but it does not. But the TL does require that teachers attend a Thai culture course.

Steve does take a stand. I'll give him that. When Johnny Danger was boasting about being a violent criminal he wasn't afraid to say that people like this have no place in the classroom. People who have a history of violence should at least have the decency to condemn it rather than glorify it. I think forums have a dangerous edge to them: people with the most disgusting views can find large groups of like minded warped individuals who concur with their views. This lead them to believe their aberrant contentions be they paedophilic or violent are actually acceptable to society as a whole.
