Yes, they are both seen as routes... but are they both seen as equivalent to each other?

It seems odd that simply because the Certificate of Ed. is
Post Grad, it's seen as an equivalent to a 4 year Bachelor of Ed.

As they've only studied a single year in an eduactional field. As opposed to 4.

Sorry, but I'm still sceptical that they're viewed as the 'same'.

Basically the same mate.

A bachelor of ed is not 4 years of pedagogical study only.

it is the equivalent of a 3 year degree (science, history, english lit) plus a 1 year diploma or certificate of ed.

in other words the educational component is spread out of 4 years rather than studied in a sustained one year effort.

As a generalisation, a person studying a degree then a PGCE will have slightly more subject knowledge, and a person studying a BEd will have slightly more teaching experience (they do more teaching practise, spread over the four years)

The big downer about taking a BEd is that if you don't want to be a teacher afterwards, say you want to be a pharmacist rather than a chemistry teacher, it is not looked upon as favourably by the pharmacy sector as a straight science degree.

Furthermore, PGCE is seen as better for secondary teaching (need more subject knowledge) whereas BEd is better for primary.

That is the general consensus in the UK nowadays.

Absolutely right.

Salary is the best guide as all types of schools will try to use the name international school.
