Its reasonable for people to think about what could have been had they not run away to thailand.

I did not get the impression he had run away. Anyway, if I had not caught the No 36 bus the other day, I could have bumped into a famous entrepeneur and could now have a top flight managers job paying $110.000 a year, or even £

International House and British Coucil are Second World wannabe following funk. We're talking scraping the bottom of the dirty underwear here. There are also real schools with First World education plans...like American School of Bangkok, that don't bother with stooping so low to host ridiculous wannabe "teachers" on what is known as the Ajarn Forum.

Anyone see International School of Bangkok host a subforum on Ajarn?

The resounding answer is "F*** no!" They don't want to waste their time with such gibberish and unqualified "teachers" masquerading as mods and Admin.

    Is it?

But as an exercise after the event, it is as pointless as second-guessing any of life's decisions...

Do you advocate second-guessing all life's decisions? Or just second-guessing Thai TEFLing decisions?

Worry about today and the future, if you must. But there's no point worrying about the past.

Who is going to stay and teacher in LOS forever?

    No one.

We'll all leave sometime for other parts unless we are indpenedently and financially secure, or start a business that is steady and has endurance.
No, I mean he's running away.

He was outed last year and this was embarrassing for him. Plus he then had legal and tax problems with regards to his site. I believe he's also involved in a court case invoving defamation. Plus his site isn't that popular anymore - hence little advertising revenue and few bars that will pay for a positive review.

I really don't think teachers should be running sex sites of any kind, there are enough whore monger sites out there, I couldn't imagine bangkokphil doing a review of girls that are 3 holers etc, or even girls that swallow, why stickman has to do this I have no idea, I am sure his wife or ex wife was really impressed as well as his students and fellow teachers.

    Thanks for the reply DaveRobin,

    But I must ask:

    Is "running away" meaning he's:

    1. shutting down his site?
    2. leaving his site up and running but not writing as much?
    3. returning the NZ?

His site was very informative in many ways when I started reading in about 2000, or so.

Since then, there have been other blogs, forums, articles, and internet stuff.

When he was outed with the infamous banana thing, yes it was probably embarrassing.

I always thought Stickman was too wedged up an expat to be a teacher, that's the impression he gave off about 4 years ago, which was the last time I browsed his sorry website.

Now he's freely admitting to being a teacher, entertaining bargirls and on top of that, being an unqualified tosser with absolutely nothing to offer any classroom, even an empty one.

He's apparently a very bitter man.

What the hell did he expect to have with no teaching credentials to begin with??? And then the Thais were actually willing to do what his own country would not do: Hire someone without credentials to teach their children.

Something wrong with that whole picture.

Why would a Thai school or any other school ever dream of employing unqualified personnel to teach their children?
Why would you employ an unqualified or out of date airline pilot to fly you on your holidays? You would not!!!!!
As for all these sorry assed ajarns or whatever you want to call them, go back to school get a real teaching qualification, maybe a degree, gain some teaching experience and then come back to Thailand and teach.
If you are not qualified to teach English you should not be teaching English in any schools whatsoever. Children deserve better than teachers who want to be in Thailand for the social life. The job of a teacher is to educate, seems to me that the uneducated here are doing the teaching.I think he should just f*ck off back to the UK. Lets see if he gets a teaching job there "w*nker that he is.

The standards for TEFL teachers are (in theory) the same across the world.

TEFL, CELTA, are they recognized in the UK as bona fide teaching qualifications. Not so sure about that, my sister teaches mathematics in school a UK Comprehensive School. Now I know she went to University of St.Andrews because I was their at her graduation. Her teacher training credentials are from Teacher Training College in Glagow, she spent one year as a probationery teacher going round different schools in the Lanarkshire area, before she was accepted into a mainstream school as a teacher .I take it this is what happens on TEFL, CELTA?? tell me its true
