What is DELTA?

I'd agree if that was the major assessment tool, but I don't think it is. I had to research seven different areas of grammar, lexis, phonology, materials, course design, and discourse over the course of seven months, write essays about them, teach lessons based on them and be observed teaching those lessons. I also had to do an in-depth study of one student and write about 12,000 words including appendices, analysing strengths and weaknesses and making suggestions about what the student could do to improve in weak areas.

Anyway, it's all over now, so I can get back to surfing for porn and chatting to you nob jockeys (c) CMN.

I took a comprehensive final for an MA a few years back, same drill. Couldn't beat off for a week. Congrats.

Where did you do your teaching practices?

I ask because a BC teacher I know had to fly in the observer from HK or go to HK. This was around 4 years ago though.

Chiang Mai. Flew in a guy from Brunei for the last observation. For the other observations, a guy from BKK flew up.

I was going to say that you have no excuse not to come out on the piss next week, but I think you're going to be a right bore.

Congrats! I know a few people who've done it; it's quite an achievement.

Good question. In theory:

* Personal challenge, the need to be stretched;
* A feeling that I really wanted to develop a greater depth and breadth of knowledge about teaching and learning;
* Better job opportunities - elsewhere in the world, not Thailand, obviously;

In practice:

* More money;
* An easier life;
* My employer paid;
* Makes it harder to sack me if I fuck something up big time.

Congrats. I know someone who did it in Barcelona and said it was the toughest thing she had ever done. Less than half the group passed.
