You are right. I would rather have sold my house and transferred UK pounds at 55 baht to the pound but that will not happen for a while. It's a strange thing that I have never made my major mistake in running my financial affairs and while I have done my best to exercise proper judgment some of my good fortune has been due to luck. If not luck, then something else.
I don't believe in a "sixth sense" or ghosts or anything like that. I am forced, however, to come to the conclusion that somebody, somewhere is looking after me.
There are many major issues which may yet bring about financial and political turmoil in Thailand and it is looking more and more likely that an extended stay in the UK is in my best interests.
I only want to move to Thailand to ensure that my wife is near her family. I have no wish to be on a perpetual holiday and having lived in Thailand before I know exactly what to expect when I move there.
So, we have resigned ourselves to remaining in the UK for at least one more year. All I need to do is to stay alive. There is no rush, no panic. I live in a nice house which is situated at the very best location. We have nice lifestyle here, just returned from a few days break in Paris, and money in the bank. I am very fortunate.
I want to stay alive for as long as possible but I want to die in Thailand knowing that my wife is with her family.
Excellent sentiment. Well said.Originally Posted by can123

I was looking again a minute ago and it's been sold. I wonder if BKK Phil was smart enough to buy it, after all "Ajarn" is his "brand".
All this talk about death is giving me reflux.
I wonder if they ever found all the posts that Willy edited after they upgraded....that was friggin funny.
Sounds like very sweet sentiments.
I was wondering why you just don't stay safe and well living the good life as a pensioner in Blighty
When it's your turn to kick the can your wife can take her share of the estate and fly back to Thailand if she really wants to be with her family (that may well become dependent on her once she returns).
We had both come to the conclusion that there was no long term future in the UK regardless of the Brexit vote. I am urging my daughter to emigrate and she will do so when she is more experienced in her job. So, a couple of years, and we will all be away from the UK.Originally Posted by PeeCoffee
