Incorrect as usual. There never was a "campaign" to shut down shopping. It was a campaign to raise awareness about excessive consumerism. Your cynical arrogance is disgusting.

Ah...raising awareness...right... Well they seem to have done an excellent job of getting people out to buy shit. $50 billion in sales....a new record.

Thank you occupiers.....from the 1% . Please continue raising awareness of excessive consumerism.....it's really working well for us...

^Cynical old fool. That sales record had nothing to do with the OWS movement. Your posts do nothing to address the problems that the country must address to move forward. Your responses are the typical from the right. Mocking those that are out effecting change but having no ideas of your own.

You have made it very clear on this thread that you are nothing more than a Corporatist and are not willing to step outside of that box to effect any change.

One day I hope it is me that kicks in your office door to deliver your egg salad sandwich. I will deliver it with a message. Your Corporate Plutocracy will fall of its own dead top heavy weight. The people will chop it down from below.

We are coming. This movement will stay ahead of you old fat cats. It will utilize new tools that most of you can not fully control or understand.

    We will beat you.

A brave new world is upon us.

That is a whole new thread and I am suffering jet lag.

I bought Coca-Colas and candy canes. Neither says where manufactured. I find it odd.

Darling please never set foot into a walmart. That corporation alone is responsible for a very massive amount of the US trade deficit with China. I think an argument can be made to try the Walton family with treason.

Are you saying the consuming sheep never knew they were buying cheap Chinese crap? Was that because they couldn't care or because Walmart somehow hid the fact from them?

There is nothing else to buy but goods manufactured outside America even if one shops locally.

People don't have much money. Not much choice but to buy cheap goods.

So American production died BEFORE Chinese goods flooded the market?

I'm not aware of any uproar from consumers in the past as to why there are only cheap Chinese shit on the shelves. It's the African syndrome. Blame someone else.

American consumers were the cause of the trade imbalance. Good ole Christian American exceptionalist consumers. Period. Until they take some responsibility for their actions, they should STFU about the manufacturers and retailers.

Now the bankers are another story altogether.

Lets see how a market works.

Back in the year Tut Walmart imported a few shipments of Cheap Chinese Junk .

Reborn Joe the Gunsmith goes into WM and says to himself; "Last time I bought Cheap Chinese Junk it was junk. I don't want Cheap Chinese Junk. Also I want to support good ole Joe the American Hero (read cannon fodder) that manufactures great Exceptionalist American Stuff, I'll go elsewhere."

Ya think Walmart will order more Cheap Chinese Junk?

The rest is excuses. African Syndrome.

Oh, you want a nanny state. The govt. must stop WM.

Get a grip bsnub....I posted a whole slate of "ideas" a while back which you seemed to approve of...... I'm "mocking" a rabble that has no fucking idea individually or collectively how to deal with the problems. Actually, you and the other anti-establishment loons on here don't either.... they mostly just copy and paste from some comedy shows posing as serious politial/financial debate.

You have made it very clear on this thread that you are nothing more than a Corporatist and are not willing to step outside of that box to effect any change.

I am outside the box....have been most of my life, but that would be hard to recognize by someone so entrenched in pseudo Marxist idealogy.
I've worked night shift in a unionized factory.....sold heavy trucks on straight commissions.....founded and built a company from the ground up.... spent 15 years in corporate management (financial sector) ....negotiated with two of the biggest unions in North America (biggest fucking liars and backstabbers on the planet..and the poor ,bastards that pay the dues actually believe that their best interests are being looked after by their sleezbag leaders) Believe me, I've been in and out of the "box" more that most....and I've seen and experienced life from both sides of the great divide. How about you.....?

One day I hope it is me that kicks in your office door to deliver your egg salad sandwich. I will deliver it with a message. Your Corporate Plutocracy will fall of its own dead top heavy weight. The people will chop it down from below.

Too late old boy......,I accepted my "package" a few years back. Just for the record my "government pension" is taxed back virtually 100%....to support the new age leaders of society who are currently waving signs, annoying the general public, and somehow imagining that they are going to change the world.

Go listen to that "speech" in Easy Rider posted a bit back.
That was made in the 1960ies....and it's the same shit that they are talking today. They were all going to change the world too.

There is not one iota of original thought coming from this "movement" They can not change the system because they don't really know anything about it, and they have no currency with the population at large, the corporate establishment, politicians or anyone else except the 5-10% fringe who are always available to protest about anything. That is a sizable number if you can assemble them but it will never achieve anywhere near the critical mass needed to achieve anything significant. Sorry, but that's the way it is..

We are coming. This movement will stay ahead of you old fat cats. It will utilize new tools that most of you can not fully control or understand.

    We will beat you.

A brave new world is upon us.
We invented the tools .... You won't beat anything, You will just be a nuisance ...an inconvenience, as long as we are prepared to humor you. Us old farts do believe in free speech and right of assembly you know.....but just like when the kiddies were acting up too much, we spanked them gently and sent them to bed.

Just to hedge my bets.....if you win, will tatoos and nose rings be mandatory in the brave new world?? What do we do with our Armani suits and Guccies....?

Oh....one more thing (my old Columbo line again) I really don't like egg salad sandwiches much.....but if you would'nt mind picking up a nice KFC dinner for me........got to support corporate American you know.....keep the faith

Not sure which thread you mean. If it's that endless circular debate over the US system, sorry I pass. The system in the US is a mess. Totally inequatible and 50 years behind the rest of the civilized world. It has been one of the things about America that I have never been able to come to terms with.....such entrenched positions and so much mis-information and posturing.......everybody defending their respective positions to the last drop of blood.

The insurance companies lie, cheat and steal....the doctors lie, cheat and steal, and the patients (via their lawyers) lie, cheat and steal. It should be fixed, but nothing I can possibly say will convince many Americans that a properly structured and funded national plan would solve 90%+ of the problems..... Obamacare is a mess....so is the status quo....what more can I say? Americans have been seriously misled by their own media, medical profession, drug companies and health insurers. Good care is expensive to the point of the ridiculous, and unavailable to so many. Am I sounding a bit Marxist here? bsnub will be along shortly to confirm......

I don't understand why having a government regulating international trade to make the playing field fair is a "nanny state" to you. The US will have to control good coming into the borders or insist other nations take more of our goods. If we don't, we are finished. You think banking should be regulated, don't you? Having a government working in the best interests of the population, not corporations, is what OWS is about and a worthy goal.

American's income has been shrinking for years so blaming them for buying cheaper goods is not fair. People do complain but they are not the majority and the majority isn't well informed.

Off topic, but very concise anyway.

Americans are indoctrinated throughout their lives to buy, buy, buy. We are taught to be dissatisfied with whatever we currently have and to constantly consume more and more. "Chasing the dragon" has become our way of life.

Occupy Wall Street has a benefit album planned with Jackson Browne, Third Eye Blind, Crosby & Nash, Devo, Lucinda Williams and even some of those drummers who kept an incessant beat at Manhattan’s Zuccotti Park.
Participants in the protest movement said Wednesday that “Occupy This Album,” which will be available sometime this winter, will also feature DJ Logic, Ladytron, Warren Haynes, Toots and the Maytals, Mike Limbaud, Aeroplane Pageant, Yo La Tengo and others.
Activist filmmaker Michael Moore is also planning to sing.
Jason Samel, a musician who is putting together the disc, said the goal is to raise between $1 million and $2 million to help fuel the movement that is protesting income disparity…

Fair comment, but there again, if people only bought what they needed instead of what they wanted.....we would probably still be living at about the level of 11th century England. What would all those Chinese do if we did not buy plastic crap and cheap underwear? We are throwing out perfectly good TV's because they are not flatscreens or HD LED's. In fact I'm considering dumping my 2 year old LCD because it's not as big as my next door neighbours...and I like the new generation LED's better. The idea of living 11th Century style holds no appeal whatsoever So you see, I am making my personal contribution to your standard of living......I hope ya'all appreciate it....
