    Rick Perry

Since it's going to be either Perry or that flip-flopper Romney, a thread devoted to the Texas Gov is appropriate:

“We’re not angry,” he says. “We’re indignant.”

to early to tell who the GOP candidate will be as they are just now getting out of the gate. lets just hope that whom ever it is, appeals to the masses and has strong moral character because the clown that is in the white house now has proven to be a low point in the country's history.

Rick Perry sounds like George Bush's retarded brother. However Perry has a lot of money behind him and he's a political street brawler who will shred Michele Bachman in the primaries. It's not clear how Perry can expand his base beyond the Christian Right and the Tea Party rabble (Perry has claimed that Medicare and Social Security are unconstitutional). These groups could give Perry the Republican party nomination but not much else. Obama has got be very happy that this meathead is jumping into the ring.

It will be fun to watch, but barring the unforeseen I don't see any major threat to Obama's incumbency. He's like a mild enema pitted against a strong purgative- and that's the way he's set it up.

Really though, the Congressional results will be more important than the increasingly discredited and impotent Oval Orifice.

I've got a problem with his stance that 'intelligent design' should be taught in school in science class- Evangelical Christians don't sit well with me.

all out of greens but nice read... not that I agree with all of his policies, but certainly better than what is currently in office.

I know who booner's going for, but whats the preference between Perry & Romney amongst our resident republicans- or any other preferences for that matter? 'Anyone but Obama' is a bit vague- you might end up with Pelosi.

    Rick Perry
    Gay?

yada, yada, yada,...........it's bizarre that the Christian right is rallying around the one guy in the GOP field, Texas Governor Rick Perry, who's been dogging rumors for years that he's gay. Then again, they never were the smartest bunch (they totally believed former GOP party chair Ken Mehlman when he told them years ago to ignore the rumors that he was gay - he is gay, and recently came out). And while I'm sure Team Perry will try to spin this as just another "birther"-type conspiracy, as I said years ago during all the speculation about Mehlman, when there's this much chatter about a guy being gay, it often ends up being true.

not that I have anything against it,.but come out of that closet:
AMERICAblog News: Will the religious right give us America’s first gay president?

'Madonna' Bachmann accused of Perry snub

    Ooooo'hh, Bitchhy :-

Michele Bachmann has been accused of snubbing Rick Perry, her new rival for the White House, at a party dinner in her home town, insisting on her own lighting and entering the hall "like she was Madonna".

.... Mrs Bachmann had made clear to organisers that she did not want to be in the hall while Mr Perry was speaking. Instead, she waited in her campaign bus.

When Mr Perry had finished, he went back to his seat to listen to Mrs Bachmann. But it took more than five minutes for her to reach the stage as the lighting was changed and the Minnesota congresswoman signed autographs.

During her speech, Mrs Bachmann, who was lit much more brightly than Mr Perry, mentioned the Abraham Lincoln impersonator but not the Texas governor, who smiled and applauded periodically.

Mrs Bachmann emphasised her Waterloo roots, stating that she was "a real person ... a champion, a fighter, somebody who's going to stand up and have guts". Unlike Mr Perry, she did not take questions.

Afterwards, Mr Perry waited at his table until it became apparent that Mrs Bachmann, protected by a phalanx of aides and signing more autographs, was not going to move over to talk to him.

I think this is the case, also.

    He's a politician - with a lot of experience.

He knows the Romney vote will come his way (Romney is a mo'mon.)

He's pandering to the military like all politicians.

He's going after the Fed, Bernanke, etc., etc., for the Paul vote.

And, remember, Perry was down 10% points against K.B. Hutchison in his last Governor re-election bid - he then went on his public "Texas secede" rant, and went up by almost 20%.

    Yes, people are....stupid.

The question is, is he sustainable.

I've been wrong before, but he may be the nominee for the GOP. Personally I think he'w a buffoon, but I'll wait a year before really making an opinion.

If the Dem's could run Obama in on a virtual landslide, then the GOP should have no problems with a closet queen.

Rick Perry is a walking talking quote machine. After speaking freely to reporters and holding several campaign events, the Texas governor has already racked up a bunch of Texas sized one-liners.

    Here are the top 10:

    10) “I hate cancer." Perry on why he supported a vaccine mandate in Texas.

    9) “We’re going to stop spending the money, unless I run out of ink in a veto pen.” Perry on how he's going to get a balanced budget.

    8) “I think you want a president who is passionate about America — that’s in love with America.” Rick Perry

    7) “Give him my love” Perry to reporters about fellow GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney

    6) “You don’t need a teleprompter to use it,” Perry on New Hampshire Motto "Live Free or Die."

    5) "We don’t have tsunamis in Texas.” Perry on why he supports nuclear energy.
    4) “I went to Texas A&M; he went to Yale. George Bush is not my opponent.” Perry on George W. Bush
    3) “This was Al Gore before he invented the Internet and got to be Mr. Global Warming" Perry on why he supported Al Gore in 1988

    2) "I never comment on whether I'm carrying a handgun or not . . that's why it's called concealed." Perry on whether he was armed while at the Iowa State Fair

    1) “Anybody that wears that color pants, you gotta win,” Perry to a man wearing salmon colored pants.

Rick Perry: “I’m President Obama’s Worst Nightmare

New GOP presidential darling Rick Perry wants to haunt President Obama’s dreams.

“I hope I’m President Obama’s worst nightmare,” the Texas governor told Fox News. “He’s the real problem. It’s his policies.”

Perry said he’s focus like a laser on fixing the economy, noting that on his watch Texas created “more jobs than any other state in the nation — from June of 2009 until present, 40% of all the jobs in America.”
He also sought to tamp down comparisons to the last President from the Lone Star State: George W. Bush.
“They’re not all carbon copies in Texas. I tell people that one of the quick ways you can tell the difference is he is a Yale graduate and I’m a Texas A&M graduate,” he said.
“The next President of the United States, what state you’re from doesn’t matter. What matters is what is in their heart, what’s in their mind. What’s in my mind and what’s in my heart is we are going to get America working again.”
And Perry defended hosting a day-long prayer meeting earlier this month.
“I think the liberals, they hate anytime faith shows up anywhere. This wasn’t about me. It was just a group of people we asked to get together to pray for this nation.

“I think that makes a lot of sense. I hope people all over this country pray for America. Lord knows we need it,” he added.

Heh, it's going to get interesting for sure.

That glosses over the issue, really- he supported a measure that required all girls entering 6th grade to receive a vaccination against HPV- now, while I would say getting immunized is a good idea, should the government really be mandating health care procedures on our children?

If my kid needs any medical treatment, I'll consult with my doctor and make the call myself- I don't need the government forcing the issue.
There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

Cough. Well there booner, in my short visit to Texas I was treated to a day in Galveston.....
I'm pleased all that antebellum architecture has survived- since they raised it on stilts.

    1900 Galveston hurricane

The Galveston Hurricane of 1900 is to date the deadliest natural disaster ever to strike the United States.

....death toll between 6,000 and 12,000 individuals

Typical names for the storm include the Galveston Hurricane of 1900, the Great Galveston Hurricane, and, especially in older documents, the Galveston Flood. It is often referred to by Galveston locals as The Great Storm or The 1900 Storm.

As you point out, it was a hurricane that hit Galveston and since then there's been a huge sea wall erected. Did you see that too? Besides, Perry's nuclear reactors don't have to be on the coast now do they?
