Another reason why Bachmann will not ever become president of the US.
She has a problem with Catholics,…….
Mind you, she was a member of the church for ten years but only quit once she wanted to run for President. Not that it's at all unusual for conservatives to think that Catholics worship the anti-Christ, it's a common belief among Southern Baptists, aka evangelical Christians. It just isn't talked about much, until you want to run for President and America's Catholics find out that you think they worship Satan.
And Bachmann thought her fey husband would be a drag (queen) on her campaign.

I’ll keep a running tally on the groups that Bachmann offends and the different voting blocks that will not vote for her.
1) Gays
2) Catholics
3) Sane people
^Read this on a blog this morning, sums things up nicely:
cab drollery: Tiresome
"What her church and what she herself believes is actually none of my business, but it becomes my business when she and other candidates continually shove it in my face with smug superiority. It also becomes my business when candidates make it clear that those religious beliefs will become national policy."
^The religious on the left, even the far left or fringe, don't tend to make religion the issue. The Christian Nation meme is pretty much mainstream in the Republican party except among the libertarians. Fear of Islam is also expressed the loudest on the right, and who knows, maybe they understand the Muslim extremists better than the rest of us, being so much like them.

Regarding Michelle Backmann and Sara Palin.
‪Bill Maher Targets Michele Bachmann, Sarah Palin in On-Air Tirade‬‏ - YouTube
^
Yep...absolutely no standards left these days. Bill Maher bashed Sarah Palin’s children as a family of “inbred weirdos.” Of course, the audience loved it.
Now, I’m not saying that sexism doesn’t exist and isn’t real. And we can’t, but we can’t throw around the word “sexist” just to stop people like me from pointing out that Michele Bachmann, now running second for the Republican presidential nomination, isn’t a dangerous nincompoop. And when I point out that Sarah Palin is a vainglorious braggart, a liar, a whiner, a professional victim, a scold, a know-it-all, a chiseler, a bully who sells patriotism like a pimp, and the leader of a strange family of inbred weirdos straight out of “The Hills Have Eyes,” that’s not sexist. I’m saying it because it’s true, not because it’s true of a woman.

Newt Gingrich’s Presidential Campaign Owes $1,000,000 (And It’s Not To Tiffany’s)
ATLANTA, GA — Newt Gingrich’s presidential campaign is more than $1 million in debt, according to his campaign disclosure provided to The Associated Press on Friday.
The former House speaker’s campaign raised $2.1 million since he got into the race earlier this year. But he spent $1.8 million.
Gingrich said he has $322,222 cash on hand.
Gingrich, however, listed $1.03 million in debt, almost half of that for private air travel. The Republican owes $451,946 to Washington, D.C.-based Moby Dick Airways and more than $100,000 for legal fees.
Facing a cash shortfall, Gingrich has in recent months has scaled back his spending, flying commercial airlines rather than corporate jets. His campaign said he had received contributions from 20,217 donors, with 17,959 writing checks for $100 or less.
One of his campaign’s creditors is Gingrich himself. The campaign owes him $47,005 for its use of mailing lists owned by the former Georgia congressman.

Rick Perry is closer to announcing:
https://teakdoor.com/images/smilies1/You_Rock_Emoticon.gif
Gov. Rick Perry will need money, organization, staff and stamina if he runs for president. But he appears to already have the support that’s most important for the race — his wife’s.
Following a brief meeting on state finances Tuesday, Perry talked expansively for the first time on what his wife, Anita, has been telling him about a White House run.
“My wife was talking to me and saying: ‘Listen . . . get out of your comfort zone. Yeah, being governor of Texas is a great job, but sometimes you’re called to step into the fray,’” the governor said.
As an experienced political wife, Anita Perry has been stepping into the fray with her husband since he ran for the Texas House in 1984.
Holding a master’s degree in nursing, she worked as a nurse for 17 years.
Perry said his wife is worried how the new health care law will affect health care.
The concern about such issues as health care and federal debt, he said, spurred him into thinking about the White House.
Slightly more 'Presidential' than that failed community organizer that presently holds the office, eh?:mid:

Rick Perry has one advantage only- he is naturally telegenic. A male Yingluck.
That alone puts him near the top of the GOP candidacy list, given the quality of the opposition.
Hardly a statement of confidence in US politics though.
Not much news this past week with the Republicans contenders (well maybe, we know Bachmann gets headaches and her husband is still in the closet).
But there were these stories/polls,…….
Huntsman campaign manager Susie Wiles resigns
Former Utah governor Jon Huntsman’s (R) presidential campaign manager, Susie Wiles, is resigning and will be replaced by communications director Matt David, according to the campaign.
Huntsman is announcing the changes to his staff at a meeting this afternoon. Top adviser John Weaver confirmed the changes to The Fix.
“Susie has served the campaign well and was vital in getting it off the ground in such a short time-frame,” Weaver said in a statement provided by the campaign. “In just under three months, Governor Huntsman has returned from China, launched a campaign and created a strong infrastructure in the three early primary states. He’s built important relationships with donors, as well as political, policy and grassroots leaders that other candidates have been courting for half a decade.

Beck and Limbaugh join forces to mock little girls | Media Matters for America
Limbaugh, Beck mock Obama's daughters
Limbaugh imitates Malia Obama: "Daddy, did you shake down BP yet?" On the June 16 edition of his nationally syndicated radio program, Rush Limbaugh mocked Malia Obama, imitating her voice and asking: "Daddy? Did you shake down BP yet, Daddy? Are you going to make them pay, Daddy?" Limbaugh was referring to a remark President Obama made during his May 27 press conference, in which he said that Malia had asked him of the Gulf oil spill: "Did you plug the hole yet, Daddy?" In his June 15 speech from the Oval Office, Obama said: "But make no mistake: We will fight this spill with everything we've got for as long as it takes. We will make BP pay for the damage their company has caused."
Beck smeared Obama girls' intelligence, later apologized. On his May 28 radio program, Glenn Beck also mockingly affected Malia's voice, asking, among other things, "Daddy ... Why do you hate black people so much?" At one point, Beck attacked Obama's daughters' intelligence, saying: "Is that's their -- that's the level of their education, that they're coming to -- they're coming to daddy and saying 'Daddy, did you plug the hole yet?' " Beck, who routinely attacks the president's family, later apologized.
Limbaugh previously smeared young Chelsea Clinton
Reportedly called then-teenage Clinton the "White House dog." According to the late columnist Molly Ivins:
On his [Limbaugh's] TV show, early in the Clinton administration, Limbaugh put up a picture of Socks, the White House cat, and asked, "Did you know there's a White House dog?" Then he put up a picture of Chelsea Clinton, who was 13 years old at the time and as far as I know had never done any harm to anyone.
When viewers objected, he claimed, in typical Limbaugh fashion, that the gag was an accident and that without his permission some technician had put up the picture of Chelsea -- which I found as disgusting as his original attempt at humor. [Mother Jones, May/June 1995]
Not much coverage on the 2012 Republican/s Campaign trail this past week maybe due to news about the debt ceiling.
There was some rumor about Perry entering the race during the second half of August and some right wingers seem to be upset that Perry and Palin will be left off of the Ames straw poll in Iowa. But there was some talk about writing them in anyways. I don’t understand why they would be upset,….they are not running as of this date (and one has no intentions on running).

There was some news about two candidates, Cain and Bachmann.
Cain is now sucking up to Muslim leaders.
Herman Cain hosted a quiet meeting with a small group of Muslim leaders on Wednesday in an effort to rebuild relations frayed by his comments about not wanting to appoint Muslims to government posts and blocking the construction of mosques.
Cain’s campaign announced plans to convene the outreach meeting this week, but refused to provide details even after the meeting, which was held at the All Dulles Area Muslim Society (ADAMS) Center in Sterling, Va.

And Bachmann is showing many (again) she is/was being a hypocrite.
Bachmann got GSE loan days before calling for end to GSEs
Just a few weeks before Bachmann called for dismantling the programs during a House Financial Services Committee hearing, she and her husband signed for a $417,000 home loan to help finance their move to a 5,200-square-foot golf-course home, public records show. Experts who examined the loan documents for The Washington Post say that they are confident the loan was backed by Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac.

Explain to me how Limbaugh talking in a little girl's voice is mocking Obama's daughter. How does it demean her? How does it diminish her? Limbaugh is mocking Obama.
The Chelsea Clinton joke was wrong. Limbaugh and Saturday Night Live each made a joke about her and the negative response was tremendous. I never heard another joke about her.
So two Chelsea Clinton joke entitles people to endlessly hound Palin's children. That's justification for the treatment of Palin's family? Weak tea. Palin's family has endured more ridicule than a national pariah.
Thnx for reminding me I have a topic I've been meaning to post for months.Quote:
naturally because they are bullies and therefore cowards at heart.
Another slow news week this week with the Republican Contenders. However the snowbilly/half-term governor/FOX contributor (Palin) compliments Bachmann while taking a shot at Romney about their stance on the debt ceiling,………
But on Tuesday night, when she talked Republican presidential candidates with Sean Hannity on Fox News, Palin played the role of hockey mom. Palin says Bachmann did the right thing, soaring into the chambers from on high, trying, but failing to stop the U.S. House from passing a bill to raise the debt ceiling.
From a different article,……
Flirting with a kingmaker role, Sarah Palin bashed Mitt Romney and praised Michele Bachmann in an interview with Sean Hannity on Tuesday night.
"Bless his heart, I have respect for Mitt Romney, but I do not have respect for what he has done through this debt increase debate," she said. "He waited until it was a done deal that we would increase the debt ceiling and more money would be spent, more money would be borrowed and spent on bigger government, and then he came out and made a statement that he didn't like the deal after all. You can't defer an issue and assume that the problem is then going to be avoided."

Romney has now signed a pledge to show he’s a homophobe (Bachmann and Santorum already signed it),….
Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney has joined Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann and former Sen. Pennsylvania Rick Santorum in signing a pledge to oppose same-sex marriage on a number of specific fronts.
The three candidates signed the pledge advanced by the National Organization for Marriage, which has led national and state campaigns to limit marriage to a man and a woman. The signature of the front-runner, Romney, is a bit of a coup for the group, as he's been careful about committing to other pledges, including a broad promise to a socially conservative Iowa group that caused trouble for other candidates.
Romney, Bachmann and Santorum signed on to support a federal constitutional amendment defining marriage, to appoint federal judges who don't see a constitutional right to same-sex marriage and to back the Defense of Marriage Act.
They've also pledged to support a referendum on marriage in Washington and to establish a "presidential commission on religious liberty" aimed at protecting the rights of marriage foes to speak out.

Romney gets a million dollars from a dummy company,……..
A mystery company that pumped $1 million into a political committee backing Mitt Romney has been dissolved just months after it was formed, leaving few clues as to who was behind one of the biggest contributions yet of the 2012 presidential campaign.
The existence of the million-dollar donation — as gleaned from campaign and corporate records obtained by NBC News — provides a vivid example of how secret campaign cash is being funneled in ever more circuitous ways into the political system.

We also learned that Rick Perry’s (who says he’ll announce his bid during the 2nd half of August) lights are on but nobody is home,………
One reason that might explain his hostility toward the system: He didn't do very well in it. A source in Texas passed The Huffington Post Perry's transcripts from his years at Texas A&M University. The future politician did not distinguish himself much in the classroom. While he later became a student leader, he had to get out of academic probation to do so. He rarely earned anything above a C in his courses -- earning a C in U.S. History, a D in Shakespeare, and a D in the principles of economics. Perry got a C in gym.
Perry also did poorly on classes within his animal science major. In fall semester 1970, he received a D in veterinary anatomy, a F in a second course on organic chemistry and a C in animal breeding. He did get an A in world military systems and “Improv. of Learning” -- his only two As while at A&M.
"A&M wasn't exactly Harvard on the Brazos River," recalled a Perry classmate in an interview with The Huffington Post. "This was not the brightest guy around. We always kind of laughed. He was always kind of a joke."

Some Florida polling numbers,…….
Florida voters surveyed after the deal say 50 - 42 percent that Obama does not deserve to be reelected, compared to a 47 - 46 percent split before the deal and 50 - 44 percent support for his reelection May 26.
Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, the leading Republican challenger in the 2012 presidential race, ties Obama 44 - 44 percent post-deal, compared to a 46 - 41 percent Obama lead pre-deal. Obama has double-digit leads over other top Republicans pre-deal and post-deal, except for Texas Gov. Rick Perry who trails Obama 44 - 39 percent post-deal.
Link: Florida (FL) Poll * August 4, 2011 * Debt Deal Doesn't Rescue Obama - Quinnipiac University – Hamden, Connecticut
And the most surprising bit of news; (to me) that I learned this week, is the reason why Chris Christie will Never Ever become the Republican Nominee for the United States (he’s just not crazy enough),……..
Obama might not deserve to be re-elected, but most of the people who voted for him will do so again unless the Thugs decide to run someone their Teahadi base won't like at all. Obama's real problem is people who will vote for him might not work very enthusiastically for his campaign.
^ I agree. Obama is a gormless toady, and apart from the major achievement of getting HC reform underway, his Presidency is a damp squib if you ask me. Certainly a major disappointment to those who voted for him, just a well groomed, politically correct Uncle Tom. In my eyes, he stands for precisely nothing besides getting re-elected- and he will. I'd quite like to see his renomination challenged within the Democrat party actually, preferably by someone who stands for something.
I'm afraid that accolade goes to Nancy booner. Barbara Bush was no oil painting either, but she was a likable matriarch.
some news and an update,.....................
the news:
Rick Perry to make 2012 intentions clear Saturday
Rick Perry intends to use a speech in South Carolina on Saturday to make clear that he's running for president, POLITICO has learned.
According to two sources familiar with the plan, the Texas governor will remove any doubt about his White House intentions during his appearance at a RedState conference in Charleston.
It's uncertain whether Saturday will mark a formal declaration, but Perry's decision to disclose his intentions the same day as the Ames straw poll — and then hours later make his first trip to New Hampshire — will send shock waves through the race and upend whatever results come out of the straw poll.
Immediately following his speech in South Carolina, Perry will make his New Hampshire debut at a house party at the Portsmouth-area home of a state representative, Pamela Tucker, the Union Leader reported Monday. Tucker was among the Granite Staters who went to Texas last week to encourage Perry to run.
Perry is expected to head to Iowa in the days following his New Hampshire trek, too, POLITICO has learned.
This week, the Texan will continue the private meetings he's held in Austin for the past month. On Thursday, Perry will meet with a small group of national small-business association CEOs to discuss job creation and his economic record.
Whether the Ames winner is Michele Bachmann, Tim Pawlenty or someone else, they will immediately have to compete with Perry for attention in the aftermath of his kickoff, particularly given his plans to visit Iowa. The Texan is not on the straw poll ballot, but several Iowa operatives said the 527 group "Americans for Rick Perry," has been aggressively working GOP events to boost his write-in performance.
The Texan would immediately be a formidable figure in the race, appealing to conservatives hungering for more options — particularly in states where the GOP base is heavily conservative, like Iowa and South Carolina, Perry would have an opportunity to unite both tea party activists and more traditional party regulars who want a mix of conservatism and electability.

update on this story:
Mystery Mitt Romney donor comes forward
The anonymous donor behind the headline-making $1 million contribution to a pro-Mitt Romney super PAC is a former Bain Capital official with long ties to the candidate, who's asking the outside group to amend its filings, POLITICO has learned.
The check-writer is Ed Conard, who was a top official at Bain, the private-equity firm Romney helped create, and who has been a strong supporter of his over the years.
