I think the "endorsements" are kind of silly.

I wished Mr Christie would run for prez. I am hoping Marco Rubio will relent and be the running mate for whoever gets the nomination. We have had enough of hopeless hope and horrid change.

Some Republicans are turning this campaign into a real circus,……
Trump to Moderate Republican Debate
It’s officially a reality television Republican primary now. Donald Trump is pairing up with Newsmax, the conservative magazine and news Web site, to moderate a presidential debate in Des Moines on Dec. 27.
“Our readers and the grass roots really love Trump,” said Christopher Ruddy, chief executive of Newsmax Media. “They may not agree with him on everything, but they don’t see him as owned by the Washington establishment, the media establishment.”
Mr. Trump’s role in the debate, which will be broadcast on the cable network Ion Television, is sure to be one of the more memorable moments in a primary season that has already delivered its fair share of circus-like spectacle.

^
As opposed to having some far left loon from NBC etc be the Moderator?
There are no non-biased news talking heads out there so The Donald is possibly the only objective guy they can find.
btw, this says it all: Meghan McCain: Bachmann Is ‘Just More Smarter’ Than Palin.
"Trump might do a great job of spotting and calling out the Republican flip-floppers, since nobody flip-flops like The Donald."
:)
But a couple contenders will not be showing up.
From the Paul camp,.......
"The selection of a reality television personality to host a presidential debate that voters nationwide will be watching is beneath the office of the Presidency and flies in the face of that office's history and dignity," Jesse Benton, Ron Paul's national campaign chairman, said in a statement.
He added, "Mr. Trump's participation as moderator will distract from questions and answers concerning important issues such as the national economy, crushing federal government debt, the role of the federal government, foreign policy, and the like. To be sure, Mr. Trump's participation will contribute to an unwanted circus-like atmosphere."
From the Huntsman camp,...........
"We have declined to participate in the 'Presidential Apprentice' Debate with The Donald," Huntsman spokesman Tim Miller said in a statement. "The Republican Party deserves a serious discussion of the issues so voters can choose a leader they trust to defeat President Obama and turn our economy around."

^The enormous gummy-candy Donald will not have many non-romneys to play with. You're fired, Rick.
Michele Bachmann was interviewed yesterday on MSNBC's Morning Joe, apparently for the first time. She discussed her background and called herself a consistent conservative. She characterized Romney and Gingrich as the “great pretenders”, and called Gingrich the consummate insider influence peddler. She gave some good ideas on fixing the US tax code and unemployment.
This morning on Morning Joe, two of the participants apologized for what they had said about her in the past, saying she came across in yesterday's show as extremely intelligent in her views.
This is what the Republican candidates need to do: get away from the nut-jobs on Fox News and show the rest of America that they are intelligent, caring individuals with reasonable ideas of how the US should be run.

Gingrich Breaks Federal Law with Bolton Pledge, Bashes State Department As Appeasers
Eunomia
Newt Gingrich pledged to name John Bolton as Secretary of State in his RJC speech today. In addition to being a horrifyingly bad selection for many reasons, Gingrich’s promise of an office to someone before the election is apparently a violation of federal law:
According to U.S. law, a candidate cannot “directly or indirectly” promise or pledge an appointment. If a candidate violates this, they can be fined or imprisoned.
This is what Title 18, Part I, Chapter 29, Section 599 of the U.S. Code says:
Whoever, being a candidate, directly or indirectly promises or pledges the appointment, or the use of his influence or support for the appointment of any person to any public or private position or employment, for the purpose of procuring support in his candidacy shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one year, or both; and if the violation was willful, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than two years, or both.

Of course, the Republican position appears to be "law, schmaw," so this won't phase them.
Pffft. Compared to the travesties made by the likes of Chuck Rangel, tax evaders Franken & McCaskill to name a few, Clinton's easy slip from perjury charges, Barney Frank & his male prostitute ring...who besmirches the law?
Too good not to share; Charlie Pierce on the Republican clown show in Iowa:
". . .it became plain that a lot of Republicans all over the country were willing to vote for practically anyone except [Willard "Mittens" Romney], including the gay-crazy Michele Bachmann, the sub-verbal Goodhair, and, of course, Herman Cain, Sex Machine. As these fell away, all of that healthy Willard-loathing had to coalesce behind somebody, and there was Gingrich, sole ruler of his own intellectual universe and the Nolan Ryan of Republican poo-flinging. Suddenly, Iowa became important again. So everybody — especially Willard — went to their closets, found their propeller beanies and their really big shoes and their red rubber noses again, and climbed into the clown car to drive to the show.

Bachmann to Trump: You’re fired
Michele Bachmann’s campaign tells The Brody File that she will NOT attend the Newsmax debate moderated by Donald Trump on December 27th. Mitt Romney, Rick Perry, Ron Paul and Jon Huntsman have also declined. That leaves Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum as the only ones who have said they will attend.
it will be a small clown car: Bachmann to Trump: You’re fired
maybe no clown car at all,...........
Trump: I might call off the debate
If Michele Bachmann thought that The Donald would take her refusal to attend his Newmax debate on December 27th quietly, Trump made it clear this morning on Fox Business’s Don Imus show that he’s going to hold a grudge. In talking with Imus, Trump said that Bachmann discussed making him her VP pick if she won the nomination, and that he sees Bachmann’s snub as a sign of disloyalty:

Thankfully, this debacle looks like it will fall apart on its own shortly.
looks like? :) I don't think many people would have tuned in on the 27th (between C-mas and New Years to a Religious Paxton channel no one has ever heard of),...video of Imus and crazy hair guy in the link: Trump: I might call off the debate
I think it was just a shameless grab at making some of the money back he'd blown on his pointless presidential bid. Im sure traditional Republicans are flattered that the donald offered his services in their name.
The inimitable Charlie Pierce on why the Rethuglican establishment is so bent out of shape about Newtie:
The problem, of course, is that, if they nominate Newt, they might wind up with Barack Obama as president for another term. They think Newt will lose. Period. All the rest is the tattered filigree of a hundred cheap alibis. For example, if George W. Bush's march through Babylon had been the triumph that his paid liars told the country it would be, then David Frum would still be writing books with that thooleramawn Richard Perle, and Andrew would still be calling people like me "fifth-columnists." You know when these guys decided there was a problem with C-Plus Augustus? When their pet war went bad, that's when, and the termites began rooting in whatever consciences they had left.

I think Newt is a formidable candidate.
American have short memories - and honestly - Newt did not piss off the Center/Independents.
If he plays a smart campaign strategy - no attacks, respect, knowledge - he has a serious chance at winning the potus, IMO.
It's the electoral college that matters.
As Pierce points out, if the Republican establishment agreed with you they'd be behind him. We'll see.
All that Willard the Mormon has to do is keep his foot out of his mouth, and he's a shoe in.
Look at the other Matzorian candidates-
Pizza stud didn't know China had nukes. FAIL.
Sarahcuda could see Russia from her window. FAIL.
Newt said Palestinians are an invented people. FAIL (ps- what does that make Americans)
Blow wave Rick keeps fluffing the simplest lines. FAIL
And as for nutty Bachmann. Divine FAIL
Sure, have a cheap laugh- but it is actually sad to see the once proud Republican party reduced to this grotesque parody. Will they ever wake up? They've got next to no talent left.
The only two candidates the GOP has been able to attract that are in the least bit credible are two blokes with a point to prove, because they're Mormon.
Bend low to Israel, praise God, blame Wetbacks, and slash taxes for your rich sponsors. What a divine vision. FAIL.
