Rick Perry’s (R) record is a “carbon copy” of Washington Republicans, President Obama’s reelection campaign said of the newest candidate for the GOP presidential nomination.The Obama campaign sought to lump Perry together with the Tea Party, and charged that his economic record as governor, about which he often brags, is not being what it seems.
“Governor Perry’s economic policies are a carbon copy of the economic policies of Washington Republicans,” said Ben LaBolt, the Obama campaign’s press secretary.
LaBolt pointed to Perry’s endorsement of the “Cut, Cap and Balance” approach to addressing the debt-ceiling that many of the other presidential candidates had backed. That plan passed the House, but failed to make its way through the Senate.

how did he create one job outside of government? Its funny presidents & govenors don't create job one outside of government! Nor do they control the stock market... when times are good they take credit and when times are bad they don't.

Yes texas has faired well through the economic down turn but so has Hawaii and Washington whose state governments are filled with Democrats... and what kind of jobs were created? more burger flippers & gardeners or good high end jobs? just curious...

Texas has that "black gold, Texas tea" thing which goes a long way toward helping third-world economies appear to be faring well. That and low-end service jobs, plus some tech in and around the educational centers like Austin, have fueled the job growth.

Perry is a slick, charming lightweight who is either telling the loony Christians what they want to hear or is actually a true believer. Let's hope it is the former- if so he is pretty damned convincing. If like Bachmann he is a true Dominionist, well, been nice knowin' y'all.

And after all of his huffing and puffing about small government he took the Federal stimulus money and used it for projects which created jobs that he took credit for.

Seriously, do any of the posters on this thread really believe BamBam will fail to be reelected? Worst POTUS ever? Gets my vote. But who's going to beat him? And, at this point with BamBam in office and NO challengers, does anyone even care? Dollar is in the toilet, economy is in ruins, and it's time to face the fact that America is a country in serious decline.

Texas is struggling right along with every other state. According to the Bureau of Labor and Statistics, Texas had recently bumped up to 8.2 percent unemployment in June which puts it below the national average. Still plenty of states without miracles posted lower unemployment rates; New York, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Minnesota, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Wisconsin, among others are all out performing Texas. Drill down even further into the numbers and there are plenty of residents that haven't felt the miracle.

Small matters such as the fact Rick was a long term Democrat, has passed suspiciously 'government' like legislation in Texas, and was an academic airhead even by Aggie standards (and thats saying sumfin) will be airbrushed.

By the time they finish vetting Perry he might prove to be crazier than Bachmann, if that is possible.

It is entertaining, but I wish the Republicans could find/do better. This has to be the most pitiful group of Republicans I have ever seen run for the nomination (Not including Mr. Huntsman). It surly is the strangest bunch.

It seems some higher-ups in the party are also displeased with the field and are trying to encourage Ryan to run,……….

Daniels says he has spoken to Ryan about a bid and encouraged him to run, but that they haven’t talked in the past couple of weeks.

Another prominent conservative reformer, Jeb Bush, also thinks Ryan should run.

“I’ll be with him in the next couple days and I expect to have some good long talks,” Bennett says from Colorado.

Rick Perry has only been in the race for five days, but his run of flaky off-the-cuff remarks already has the rumor mills rekindling over Paul Ryan and Chris Christie. (Though not for Rudy Giuliani, if you can believe that.) Come on, folks. If you can't win with any of the folks already running, you can't win.
