    Adam Kokesh

Adam Kokesh is a 27 year-old Iraq War veteran running for Congress as an anti-war, anti-Neocon, anti-Federal Reserve Republican. You could dismiss him as just another tea-bagger, Sarah-Palin-wannabe, birther nutcase, but there's more thoughtfulness and intelligence to this guy. Apparently, he's emerged as the leading Republican challenger for New Mexico's 3rd District congressional seat. My intention for posting this thread isn't just to discuss Kokesh but the idea that there is now a legitimate anti-war movement and banking reform movement from old-school conservatives. Has the Democratic Party become so tied to Wall Street and corporate interests that progressive and independent voters should start looking at politicians like Adam Kokesh to change Washington?

Best of luck to the guy, but honestly I doubt he'll survive the savaging he'll get from his own party much less attract enough votes.

He's apparently leading the pack of Republicans, although it will be hard to win in a heavily Democrat district. I don't think he'll need Republican Party funds because he uses Ron Paul money-raising tecniques. I think the savaging will come from the mass media, who will paint him as a nutcase far-right radical.

He'd do better to run as an Independent.

^ The problem is, Independents are shut out. Even though the GOP is the party of big gov, Neo-Cons, and Jewish Zionists, anyone who can enter the party and bring their voice is a positive thing.

I left the GOP in 1996, and will never return. Disgusted by Dole nomination, GWB, Neo-Cons, and Zionist Jews in top policy positions.

i made it to about the 1 minute mark:

"our nation is drifting dangerously from freedom to fascism"
"the bands of tyranny are tightening around america..."

in the current political environment this sort of rhetoric plays well with some people, so he might win the seat.

More articulate than and able to put his rhetoric together better than Palin, but playing on the same fear and psuedo patriotic sentimentality as her. I didn't hear any ideas...only fear mongering and platitudes. I'd like to see him debate ideas with his opposition, who by what I gather would be someone who is not patriotic and who doesn't like the constitution, American freedom, personal liberty, etc.

The guy put his life on the line in Iraq. He's going against the entire political power structure. Life would be a lot easier for Kokesh if he was just another bullsh*t artist politician throwing out platitudes and taking in lobbyist money. What do you find fake about his patriotism?

I admire his courage, as I admire the courage of any Activist- much easier to take the easy way out, and sit back. Thats not to say I admire his convictions.

I do not think this Activist will have anywhere near the same impact as some of his predecessors, such as Nader or Chomsky, but I'd like him to win the GOP nomination, and at least run for election.
