^ The above post proves how little you really know about Americans or America for that matter Jet. Latinos identify more closely to Trayvon then to Zimmerman (who is only half latino) as they too are often victims of the same types of crimes, no if anything this incident will just strengthen latino support of Obama.
rubio was baptized as a mormon when he was a kid...he now identifies as some other type of christian (don't know which type, and don't care), but there is NO way that most evangelicals would vote for two mormons. they hate obama and will vote for almost anyone, but the fear in the GOP is that they'll stay home on election day if the ticket consists of two 'cult' members.
in short, he won't be on the ticket.
^^
Never let a serious crisis go to waste, eh?
The Obama Campaign just started selling hoodies on their website.
Obama for America | 2012 | Store | Collegiate Hooded Sweatshirt
Got yours yet, snub?
Kinda defines the Obama culture you'd have to admit...
I wear a hoodie whenever there is a a bit of a chill. I am leery of an ignorant culture that would try to in some bizarre way tie wearing a hoodie to criminal activity. That is a far more disturbing situation then Obama selling them on his website.Quote:

He may be a future candidate, but right now he's a pretty face with no experience. I reckon the GOP learnt surely it's lesson with Sarah Barracuda. No way he'll get nominated. At a guess, an 'old beltway hand' like Joe Biden might be the sort of person who'll get the Republican VP ticket.
Rubio's mentor Jeb Bush has the experience necessary. He's fluent in spanish and has a Mexican wife. He was very good for the hispanic community while governor.
^ but his last name is Bush and would be a drag on any ticket
I don't see blacks and hispanics walking arm in arm in some common cause or resisting some common nemisis. There is quite a bit of racial tension between them. The feel good stories presented on television run contrary to what goes on in neighborhood amongst youths.
so true..... the country is still cleaning up after W.Quote:

The Mess and how Obama inherited it
This tells the story, why Bush was so bad at the end of his term.
Don't just skim over this, read it slowly and let it sink in. If in doubt, check it out.
The day the democrats took over was not January 22nd 2009, it was actually January 3rd 2007 the day the Democrats took over the House of Representatives and the Senate, at the very start of the 110th Congress.
The Democrat Party controlled a majority in both chambers for the first time since the end of the 103rd Congress in 1995.
For those who are listening to the liberals propagating the fallacy that everything is "Bush's Fault", think about this:
January 3rd, 2007 was the day the Democrats took over the Senate and the Congress. At the time:
The DOW Jones closed at 12,621.77
The GDP for the previous quarter was 3.5%
The Unemployment rate was 4.6%
George Bush's Economic policies SET A RECORD of 52 STRAIGHT MONTHS of JOB GROWTH
Remember the day...
January 3rd, 2007 was the day that Barney Frank took over the House Financial Services Committee and Chris Dodd took over the Senate Banking Committee.
The economic meltdown that happened 15 months later was in what part of the economy?
BANKING AND FINANCIAL SERVICES!
Unemployment... to this CRISIS by (among MANY other things) dumping 5-6 TRILLION Dollars of toxic loans on the economy from YOUR Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac FIASCOES!
Bush asked Congress 17 TIMES to stop Fannie & Freddie - starting in 2001 because it was financially risky for the US economy.
And who took the THIRD highest pay-off from Fannie Mae AND Freddie Mac? OBAMA
And who fought against reform of Fannie and Freddie?
OBAMA and the Democrat Congress
So when someone tries to blame Bush...
REMEMBER JANUARY 3rd, 2007.... THE DAY THE DEMOCRATS TOOK OVER!"
Budgets do not come from the White House. They come from Congress and the party that controlled Congress since January 2007 is the Democrat Party.
Furthermore, the Democrats controlled the budget process for 2008 & 2009 as well as 2010 &2011.
In that first year, they had to contend with George Bush, which caused them to compromise on spending, when Bush somewhat belatedly got tough on spending increases.
For 2009 though, Nancy Pelosi & Harry Reid bypassed George Bush entirely, passing continuing resolutions to keep government running until Barack Obama could take office. At that time, they passed a massive omnibus spending bill to complete the 2009 budgets.
And where was Barack Obama during this time? He was a member of that very Congress that passed all of these massive spending bills, and he signed the omnibus bill as President to complete 2009.
If the Democrats inherited any deficit, it was the 2007 deficit, the last of the Republican budgets. That deficit was the lowest in five years, and the fourth straight decline in deficit spending. After that, Democrats in Congress took control of spending, and that includes Barack Obama, who voted for the budgets.
If Obama inherited anything, he inherited it from himself. In a nutshell, what Obama is saying is I inherited a deficit that I voted for and then I voted to expand that deficit four-fold since January 20th.
That is one of those unnatributable chain Emails the right wing blogosphere is so well known for- I really don't think it belongs on a thread about Marco Rubio, who apart from being a tea party darling and a pretty face, is only a recently elected politician in Fla. It seems to have first cropped up on 'Free Republic' around the 12th April, author unknown (it's usually either that, or falsely attributed to someone). Of course it is full of lies and half truths. Do you have a Link for that SEA? We do ask for one, although a quick google provides a few RW blogs it is replicated on.
The bottom line is though, the GOP running on a 'Bush wasn't so bad' ticket would be a disaster for them- the facts speak for themselves, and are easily rehashed. That kind of stuff plays to the Republican faithful, and reverberates around the right wing blogosphere. It is not them, any more than it is the left wing of the Dem's (and further left) who will determine the outcome of Potus 2012.
The 'gorilla in the room' is mounting US government debt, and what to do about it. I would think the GOP will push that angle, and leave dubya unmentioned. :)
Agreed.
Rubio is too young and looks too young.
I'm getting curious as to the Romney VP pick. We can speculate all we want. 8-10 weeks he;ll announce (that's the way it usually goes, right?) Before the convention.
When the VP is announced is creates more media hoopla, speculation, and "analysis" from the talking heads: with this VP attract certain voters in certain areas....yadda, yadda.
Romney is a moderate. In some ways, reminiscent of Bill Clinton (although he's certainly no Bill Clinton).
Will Romney pick a "conservative Protstant?" in an attempt to draw Evangeicals and other Xtian righters to the polls?
what the right doesn't understand about Rubio but will soon find out why he will never ever become more than a token for the rethugs,.........
When it comes to immigrating to the United States, Cubans get preferred status. Thanks to the Cuban Adjustment Act, which was enacted in 1966 -- or four years after Rubio's grandfather came to the United States -- Cuban refugees who flee the Island and reach the U.S. shoreline have a clear path to legal residency and eventual citizenship.
Mexican immigrants aren't so fortunate. So when Cuban-Americans do what Rubio has done since arriving in the Senate 16 months ago and take a hardline against illegal immigration, Mexicans and Mexican-Americans have been known to cringe. After all, that's easy for them to say.
Last year, Rubio came under criticism from fellow Latinos for getting wrong the year that his parents came to United States. It turned out that they left Cuba before Castro took power, making them immigrants and not refugees.
So here we have one more thing that Mexicans and Mexican-Americans can use against Rubio to try to take him down a peg or two. They'll gladly remind him that he's no better than they are, and that while some of their ancestors may have come to this country illegally, so did at least one of his.
As bad as this relationship has been, it's about to get worse because of "grandpa-gate." Stories like this make Rubio damaged goods and less useful in luring Latinos to the Republican ticket. That being the case, his vice presidential stock has to be plummeting. What good does it do the ticket for Rubio to be popular with whites and Cuban-Americans? Republicans are likely to get the majority of those votes anyway. His value is all wrapped up in how well he plays with Mexicans and Mexican-Americans. And right now, the answer is "not well."
entire story: Why Marco Rubio can't save the GOP - CNN.com
I'd be curious to know how much of the Latino vote in Florida is still made up of Cubans, especially if you include Brazilians (and why not?).
this guy is toast.....
first, there are now even more ethics problems that have come to light (on top of the previous scandals)...
Quote:
In a negotiated settlement finalized last month but only publicly released now, Marco Rubio for Senate acknowledged taking in more than $210,000 in “prohibited, excessive and other impermissible contributions” during his Senate campaign and failing to refund or “redesignate” the funds within the allowed time frame.
but the lie that will likely deny him the VP nod is that he claimed for years that his parents had fled castro's cuba...but the fact is that they left cuba approximately 3 years before the revolution.

whoops.
oh, and btw, he was baptized a mormon.

two baptized mormons on the GOP ticket will really help turnout the evangelicals in the bible belt.
NEXT!
Rubio received less than 50% of the vote here in Florida when he ran for the senate. I don’t think Rubio would have won if either one Meek (D) or Crist (I) would have stayed out of the race. Meek and Crist split the vote opposing Rubio.
Rubio might have a more difficult time holding on to that Senate seat the next time around now that more information about him and his past has been drug up.
What gets me is this,…….
I think some of the Cubans tolerate him and his lie now because they have put so much money behind him and he is in the Senate and can push their agenda (Communisto, Communisto, Communisto).
But I am sure some Cuban men (and some women and their children) who came here early via the shark infested waters off of the Florida coast on some type of flotation device, after escaping prison while out on work detail and then holding up in the mangroves along the key because they are too frightened to come out are pissed that Rubio got into office by embellishing the fact about his parents who were flying back and forth to Cuba while requesting a Pepsi in an air-conditioned cabin of a airplane.
Whether the right understands this or not,…….the story of Rubio’s parents (the way Rubio tells it) will carry a person here in South Florida a long way with the Hispanic voting population.
Fuck him! And his story.
Better Rubio is vetted now and not during the presidential run or the Rethugs might end up with another retard VP (wannabe) like Palin.

Two mormons on the ticket? That's waaay too much Boney Moronie.
By the way, how did that "Fannie and Freddie caused the housing crisis" crock of shit (aka, lie) get on this thread? If you think GSEs caused the cascading shock through the system that brought down Lehman, Bear, AIG and others, it's because you want to believe it, not because of evidence, but because. . .poor people, blacks and the gummint! (not necessarily in that order) One of the great zombie lies of the crisis: http://www.cepr.net/index.php/blogs/...ie-and-freddie
I think two constitutes a conspiracy, how about make it three with Orrin Hatch for SecState?
^If they understood what it might mean (LDS for everyone),…they would run for the hills :)
Maybe it's time to buy shares of a magic underwear maker. Hanes make those? Maybe I'll ask the pair of Elders that hang out near my local BTS station. To be fair, when I asked if they were Romney campaign operatives drumming up support in Bangkok their response was friendly.
to be fair to rubio, he claims he's no longer a mormon....but i don't think that's really going to wash with the evangelical nut jobs.
