and secondly, it is widely recognized that journalism in the US took a decidedly revolting and downmarket turn once Murdoch's tentacles reached our shores.
Yep, Rupert Murdoch has a global news network serving up lowest common denominator crap for the lowest common denominators (for the LCD's here, that means stupid shit for stupid people).
I'm troubled that anyone can defend Fox news or Rupert Murdoch. It is blatantly biased and designed for the non-questioning/thinking mindless masses.
I also agree there's left wing bias amongst some American networks, but you don't defend and justify shit by pointing out other shit. 2 wrongs don't make a right. Such an argument is made by those of the lowest intelligence imaginable.
"Slavery is the daughter of darkness; an ignorant people is the blind instrument of its own destruction; ambition and intrigue take advantage of the credulity and inexperience of men who have no political, economic or civil knowledge. They mistake pure illusion for reality, license for freedom, treason for patriotism, vengeance for justice."-Simón Bolívar
I am 50 years old and have been watching American type entertainment and Politics and journalism, dressing style, crime style, music style, slowly try to creep in to my own country, if Murdoch has gotten his foot indoors in the US with a special brand of US media it was because it was more ripe for the taking than other places, although they call it Aussie and English I don't recall ever having seen anything no where near FOX when I was living in England, trying to wipe that special American flavour of on other nations is wrong, the overlying business principles of FOX might be the same as Murdoch use elsewhere, but content and presentation, personal styles is US all the way.
Politicians managed by spin-doctors with every word carefully choreographed, with impeccable backgrounds holding their impeccable wife's and children's hands delivering nothing but short type shallow easy digestible messages, is all the American (I want to puke) way, it rubs of in the whole way US media information is presented and belongs uniquely with US, it is rubbing of in Europe unfortunately.
You don't have to live in the US to follow what is going on there, the difference between the general knowledge about the going's on in other country's between Europeans and Americans are astonishing big, the Americans are generally way way behind on that score, even high up in politics and business.
Finally I don't consider myself an expert in anything but my former chosen trade, but I do have an personal opinion on things that interest me, it is my personal subjective take on things, that I have all the rights to air on this forum, if you don't like it I suggest you fuck off.
Says it all, don't it? BO's administration won't meet with FoxNews, but they will meet with the brutal regime of Myanmar (a.k.a. Burma).
^^
You forgot fist-bumping with Hugo Chavez, support for that commie in Hondouras, allowing the USD to sink to new levels, pimping for ACORN...the list goes on.
It's the vast Left wing conspiracy making all the noise currently.

Well, this has turned into the usual circle jerk of FOX supporters whilst real American Conservatives are once again left out in the cold by the loonies running the GOP.
No, and that is why I try to refrain from posting in threads that are Ameri-centric (often unsuccessfully as it seems) but I do comment in threads about my dear American friends and a subject such as FOX which is broadcast globally.Originally Posted by chitown
I do not generally participate in threads that bash Americans just for the hell of it, but this thread is about the FOX network and I watch it quite often so I feel able to comment about it.

No, and it's "you're" not "your" if you want to use a contraction of "you are" but as a loyal Beckerhead I'm sure you knew thatOriginally Posted by chitown
Heh...BO's REAL PROBLEM WITH FOX: What most bothered the White House about Fox is that it caused inconvenient reporting by other news organizations. . . . In other words, their problem is not that Fox isnt a real news organization, their problem is that it is.
just out of curiosity earl, how many hours/week do you watch fox?
sorry, "FNC" :snigger:
^Not many lately. Having trouble focusing on your own topic amigo?
Ray are you also incapable of distinguishing between "commentary" and "news"?
Clearly FNC was far more objective than either MSNBC or CNN during the 2008 elections.
Recent coverage of Van Jones was interesting and embarrassing for everyone but Fox.
Clearly you did not read the Pew Research Center report that featured the graph you cut and pasted, for it does not indicate that FOX is "far more objective" than MSNBC or CNN, far from it:
Of course there's going to be more negative stories about the McCain/Palin ticket, which even by Republican standards was one of the worst in history. On Fox News, in contrast, coverage of Obama was more negative than the norm (40% of stories vs. 29% overall) and less positive (25% of stories vs. 36% generally). For McCain, the news channel was somewhat more positive (22% vs. 14% in the press overall) and substantially less negative (40% vs. 57% in the press overall). Yet even here, his negative stories outweighed positive ones by almost 2 to 1.
I think Rachel Maddow really nailed the issue, and so far I haven't seen anyone else with this perspective, including the WH. If you're interested in clarity, watch Maddow's piece.
The pertinent fact is this : FOX is openly organizing and promoting protests against the US government. This is unequivocably where they've crossed the line and discredited themselves as a legitimate news organization. They are a special interest and advocacy group and not a news organization.
Journalists don't make the news, they report it.
^ Sorry, maddow makes me ill.
