This guys my hero. He's got a good thing going with a couple of willing ladies- one of whom is a Lobbyist! Neither one is his loyal Wife of course (he is a Republican, after all). That would be boring.

Lobbyists like that can Lobby me anytime. How d'ya get these good jobs Mike? Unfortunately, Mike was heard boasting about his sexual exploits to some of his fellow Family values Republicans during a Legislative hearing- because a microphone was left on!

Assemblyman Mike Duvall resigns after his sex comments are broadcast

KCAL-TV in Los Angeles played a tape of the married Yorba Linda Republican speaking about sex with two women. He apparently did not realize a microphone was on during a legislative hearing.

Legislative leaders had earlier expressed disgust at the comments of Duvall, who was vice chairman of the Utilities and Commerce Committee and a member of the Rules Committee. And at least one Republican Party official had said the lawmaker should consider resigning.

His remarks were caught on videotape during a July hearing of the Assembly Appropriations committee and aired on a KCAL television news report Tuesday night. In the videotape, the married, socially conservative Duvall talks with a colleague in uninhibited detail about his apparent trysts with two women, neither of them his wife.

The KCAL report says one of the women is a lobbyist for a major utility with business before Duvall's committee. In the videotape, Duvall says her birthday is July 6, the same date as a Sacramento lobbyist for the San Diego-based energy firm Sempra.

The Capitol Resource Institute, a conservative, self-described "pro-family" advocacy organization that had given Duvall a "100%" score for his voting record on issues of concern to the group, denounced the lawmaker in a statement today. .

"It is always disappointing when a champion of traditional values does not practice the same in his private life," said Karen England, executive director of CRI. "And this appears to be the case with Assemblyman Duvall."

Chapman University awarded Duvall the Ethics in America Award in 2000 for his "demonstration of the highest standards of ethical integrity" while a member of the Chamber team.

As legislator, Duvall has "blasted" efforts to promote gay marriage. The conservative Capitol Resource Institute gave him a 100% rating, calling him "a consistent trooper for the conservative causes" who "voted time and time again to protect and preserve family values in California"

Of course we all know the real issue about this- the vice chairman of the Utilities and Commerce Committee in CA has been having an affair with a Lobbyist for (you guessed it) a major Utility, Sempra, which controls- SAN DIEGO GAS & ELECTRIC, SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA GAS COMPANY & SEMPRA ENERGY GLOBAL ENTERPRISES. It is a Fortune 500 company.

A serious conflict of interest, and a serious ethical lapse on both of their part. The moral aspect, well thats good for a laugh too- but not the main issue here.
