Heh...so much for BO's approval ratings, eh? Measured by Rasmussen Reports, it's been at 56 percent for the last three days. His "approval index"--the difference between those who strongly approve of his performance and those who strongly disapprove-- now stands at + 6, the lowest level so far:

The Republicans are long on partisan bickering, but devoid of answers and alternatives. I don't know if they have any 'plan' as such- it is basically a headless party at the moment- but it seems they are staking their medium term political future on the stimulus package being a failure, which of course they would then politicise to look good in comparison.

Strange how quickly they abandon their 'patriotic' rhetoric when it no longer suits their political agenda, isn't it? You've now got people like Limbaugh loudly hoping his country will fail. Interesting also that this has not been highlighted in the 'Libbie' press.

Anyway, they have made their own beds as committed obstructionists, and Obama doesn't have to bother too much about reaching out to them anymore. They'll only ever moan and gripe.

Some economists think the rescue package is too small:-

"President Obama’s plan to stimulate the economy was “massive,” “giant,” “enormous.” So the American people were told, especially by TV news, during the run-up to the stimulus vote. Watching the news, you might have thought that the only question was whether the plan was too big, too ambitious.

Yet many economists, myself included, actually argued that the plan was too small and too cautious. The latest data confirm those worries — and suggest that the Obama administration’s economic policies are already falling behind the curve.

To see how bad the numbers are, consider this: The administration’s budget proposals, released less than two weeks ago, assumed an average unemployment rate of 8.1 percent for the whole of this year. In reality, unemployment hit that level in February — and it’s rising fast."

Can't rule out the possibility that significantly more money may yet need to be appropriated for the Bailout.

^ I disagree. The problem with the plan is that it is much of the spending is set for the future when more money should be used NOW. Then the total could have been cut because the cash would get people back to work and spending NOW. Sure, there are some bridges and roads that started already; how nice for the ditch diggers.

reach around, once again you miss the point. People, except the hard-left libbies like yourself, are looking ahead. As Booner's graph shows, bambam is losing appeal, mostly for his policies and inaction. He's so busy basking in his fans' adoration, he don't have time for nuthin else. Get to work, BO. (Oh, right, Pelosi and Reid make the policies, so he just has to sign them so he can go off in the presidential vehicles and wave to fans in different cities.) What a goof-off.

He's working very hard, indeed. Some of his Aides say too hard- but he's obviously stepped into the job at a time of crisis, and he certainly takes care of his fitness.

You could hardly have accused dubya of being a workaholic.

^ I suppose I'm 'talking my own Book' here, but I wanna see it drop lower. Might be approaching fair value though- jeez, this ex-stockbroker hasn't been in the stockmarket for over four years.

^ Fair value? You looking at P/Es or book value, Doc? ie, GM and C's P/Es are NA. CAT's is 4.2. If this were a year ago, we would be buying on those valuations alone. hehe

6,000 even would be quite nice, NASDAQ used to be 4,500 it never recovered from that March 2000 high

I reckon we are in fair valuation territory, some guys have predicted another 20% drop but I fail to see how this would be possible unless we are seeing massive bank runs or a few giants falling, but then another drop of 20% would be the last of our worries

He also left office with a budget surplus.
Dubya left BO with the biggest deficit in US history.

that's easy to do when you just sit back and leave the problems to someone else to resolve..But I don't expect you to understand the cause and effect relationship involved..

Just as I stated previously about infrastructure, it doesn't get cheaper as the years and needs go on it gets more expensive the longer it's put off, the job gets bigger and costs go up it's unavoidable so saying something necessary is too expensive now is just avoiding the inevitable and passing on the problems to someone else so at least now the people who made the mess finally have hold of the problems they created, the chickens have come home to roost..

^ ^What are you babbling about?
What cause and effect? Dubya broke the country with pork barrel politics and unecessary, politically dubious tax cuts and disasterous foreign policy.

His future reputation as the worst US president is assured.

yes....you're confused Dug, the home grown moron was the federal building in Colorado, the first attack on the WTC was Al Queda in 93
