All I want to know is WTF has Rush been doing for the last 8 years... Obviously not critiquing GWB... He should just STFU and let BO get on with business... No one can solve the US's problems overnight... All he is doing is inciting the right wing antagonists...

I do agree that throwing gasoline on a roaring fire is not the best way to extinguish the blaze... Much like borrowing / printing more greenbacks to flood the economy with $$$ as a solution for the woes of the country... The alternative is far to grim to stomach though... No good answers...
Give a man a match, and he'll be warm for a minute, but set him on fire, and he'll be warm for the rest of his life.

    Ahhhh. but, but, but.

Dissent and opposition voices are healthy. Remember? Of the people, by the people and for the people.

It's our right and obligation as citizens to critique and learn and vote responsibly. Right?

Or did all that nonsense end a week ago?

some think that the reason limbaugh has his panties in a twist is because he wasn't invited to that obama dinner at george will's house a couple of weeks ago. hell hath no fury like an obese, drug addicted talk show host scorned.

I did a search for the fairness doctrine thread (I thought there was one) but I couldn't find it, so I'll put this here.

Comments on the Fairness Doctrine? Will it ever return?

I think it should return. Entertainment with public policy is a bad mix, especially with so many poorly-read people in existence:

Clinton wants 'more balance' on airwaves

Even though no member of Congress has scheduled hearings on the Fairness Doctrine, it remains on a hot topic on both liberal and conservative shows.

Today, radio host Mario Solis Marich asked former President Bill Clinton if it was time for "some type of enforced media accountability."

"Well, you either ought to have the Fairness Doctrine or we ought to have more balance on the other side," Clinton said, "because essentially there's always been a lot of big money to support the right wing talk shows and let face it, you know, Rush Limbaugh is fairly entertaining even when he is saying things that I think are ridiculous...."

^ Was that issued after his speech at CPAC? hehe
Energising speech. He's good at rallying the troops. Of course the left is castigating him already for "hoping that Obama fails".

Yes it was as the Moonbat Liberals are worried about his ability to 'rally the folks' given their socialist agenda...

on his comedy radio program yesterday, entertainer rush limbaugh lashed out at michael steele.

it's like watching something on animal planet....

I hope that changes. I hope the RNC will get its act together. I hope the RNC chairman will realize he's not a talking head pundit, that he is supposed to be working on the grassroots and rebuilding it, and maybe doing something about our open primary system and fixing it so that Democrats do not nominate our candidates. It's time, Mr. Steele, for you to go behind the scenes and start doing the work that you were elected to do instead of trying to be some talking head media star, which you're having a tough time pulling off. I hope you figure out how to run a primary system. But it seems to me that it's Michael Steele who is off to a shaky start.

    The Dems won!

Rush and Steele airing their differences in public just make the Republicans more divided when they are in dire need of a voice to unite themselves. The Republicans are in need of another "great communicator". I don't see one emerging from the current ranks.

    Agreed.

The fact that a radio host can hold so much sway and publicly comment on differences with the head of the RNC, reveal the GOP is attempting to find a person or people to unite the party and also for the entire party to find solid ground on approaches.

This is why we saw Bobby Jindal put into the spotlight for the response to the State of the Nation speech.

The GOP has time, and is ernestly working on this. But I don't see anyone nor know of anyone that I can think of to put together the splintered factions.

    Yes, the Dems won.

    He does.

But he's been parroting the RNC line for years. I don't recall him criticizing GWB. He had 8 years to pound GWB and the Repubs and never did, as they spent and spent, and then passed Medicare-D.

Medicare-D required $17 Trillion dollars to be invested at Treasury rates. How much money did the gov have? $0.

GWB is one of the most socialist Presidents in history after FDR, and LBJ.

^ You could say he generaly didn't criticize Bush. He was critical about Bush over illegal immigration, medical prescription benefits, and gun control. There's others but can't think of them at the moment.

back in the day he may have been parroting, but now he's feeding the lines to the GOP.

there is little doubt that limbaugh is the leader of the GOP...due in large part to the fact they're most of them are scared to death of him.... and how he's able to incite his 20 million listeners to call a sitting republican representative or senator and say they're not going to vote for him/her.

when steele and jindal "genuflected" to him the other day his leadership position was confirmed.

your post indicates that you listen to limbaugh quite often.

in fact, it seems like you listen to quite a bit of talk radio.

who do you listen to more often, limbaugh or michael savage of 'savage nation'

on July 7, he was fired from his MSNBC television show after remarks made in response to a caller, later identified as prank caller Bob Foster. Foster insulted Savage's teeth. Savage then asked if Foster was a "sodomite", to which the caller answered, "Yes." Savage then said to the caller, "Oh, so you're one of those sodomites. You should only get AIDS and die, you pig; how's that? Why don't you see if you can sue me, you pig? You got nothing better to do than to put me down, you piece of garbage? You got nothing to do today? Go eat a sausage, and choke on it. Get trichinosis. Now do we have another nice caller here who's busy because he didn't have a nice night in the bathhouse who's angry at me today? Put another, put another sodomite on....no more calls?...I don't care about these bums; they mean nothing to me. They're all sausages."

hate filled talk radio is a key component in the GOP echo chamber.

But IS, Rush, a real conservative?

He has two things about him that I question of whether he is a real conservative:

    1. His personal life

    2. He follows the RNC - until a couple of weeks ago.

I don't buy it. Being "conservative" is a part of his schtick. He needs ratings.
