“They’re doing it on the side. It’s better than nothing,” said immigration reform lobbyist Tamar Jacoby, who has attended meetings at the nearby Jackson Place complex and believes the undisclosed gatherings are better than none.
The White House scoffs at the notion of an ulterior motive for scheduling meetings in what are, after all, meeting rooms.
But at least four lobbyists who’ve been to the conference rooms just off Lafayette Square tell POLITICO they had the distinct impression they were being shunted off to Jackson Place — and off the books — so their visits wouldn’t later be made public.
Obama’s administration has touted its release of White House visitors logs as a breakthrough in transparency, as the first White House team to reveal the comings and goings around the West Wing and the Old Executive Office Building.
The Jackson Place townhouses are a different story.
There are no records of meetings at the row houses just off Lafayette Square that house the White House Conference Center and the Council on Environmental Quality, home to two of the busiest meeting spaces. The White House can’t say who attended meetings there, or how often. The Secret Service doesn’t log in visitors or require a background check the way it does at the main gates of the White House

The fact is that a free and fair democracy in these Middle Eastern countries is the REAL FANTASY. The reality is that western powers will endeavour to control the political landscape in the Middle East, not for any altruistic reasons, but solely in their own self interest.
The problem this poses for western governments is that it provokes resistance to the wests interference in their countries politics. And in the face of overwhelming military superiority, this drives ordinary Middle Eastern citizens into the waiting arms of radical Islam and resistance against the west by the only means they have which is terrorism.

The completion of the circle comes in the form of the Zionist lobby influence on US foreign affairs. The Zionist lobby controls the bulk of the media in USA and so can make or break US governments. The US politicans all know this and very few are prepared to take a moral stand against an overwhelming media cartel.
Thats just one country, all be it a critical one for USA and Israel.

Obama repeating Jimmy Carter's mistakes
The Obama administration is repeating the mistakes of President Jimmy Carter’s failed energy policies, which marred his term and stigmatized the 1970s. They are leading us straight into another national energy disaster.
Well, on reading the article what Forbes is really complaining about is simply the freeze on deep water drilling permits in the Gulf of Mexico, in the wake of the BP oil spill disaster. There will be many who strongly approve of that, others who strongly disagree. Forbes is clearly a 'drill, baby, drill' advocate- I would have thought he could have used the same print space to also complain about the restrictions on drilling in Alaska's national parks, or inshore drilling- which is restricted in the US. Topically, he uses the current political unrest in much of the middle east to add cogency to his case- although any 'energy crisis' caused by it exists only in his own mind.
One obvious thing the US should be doing to reduce hydrocarbon energy dependency would be to reduce the ongoing American drug addiction to gas guzzlers- ie tax oil a bit more, and add an extra sales rax on motor vegicles with unnecessarily large, polluting engines, such as the F100- last thing I knew, America's largest selling car. Yet the same oil companies and their advocates who argue for unrestricted drilling, or close to it, within the US and it's waters to 'reduce America's energy dependence' vehemently argue against that. To state the bleedin' obvious, that does somewhat dent their credibility- anyone would think they are purely lobbying out of self interest, ie to make a buck, but in reality don't give a damn about the energy dependency issue at all, in fact wish it to continue.
Of course, the fact that energy companies (Enron and Koch stand out) are also the largest funders of global warming denial, actively lobby against emission controls & carbon trading, tax breaks for alternative energy research etc, as well as anything else that might make the consumer actually reduce his energy consumption, well that would just seem to add weight to my scurrilous accusation.
In short, when Big Oil and it's lapdogs tries to lobby you, the Great Unwashed, with a 'caring and sharing' sort of approach, count your fingers and check your wallet. As of the mid term elections, they've already taken over the House Energy committee. Their interest is merely for you to keep guzzling oil, and for them to have unrestricted access to it :rolleyes:
