    Joe Biden

Let's start a Thread on Mad Joe Biden!

Aside from the usual we know about this second-rate hack, bet you didn't know he's already thrown in the towel!

"I will be unrelenting in my debate with governor, the governor of Alaska in terms of the positions she has taken. But I will not do what she is able to do so well, and many of it's not bad. I am not good at the one-line zingers that go at, you know, that's not my deal. So if that is going to be the measure of how these debates go, then I'm not going to do very well."

There isn't as much interest in Biden because he's more well-known. Again, the VP hype for him last about 2 days, IMO. Palin's hype will last 2-3 weeks, and then the campaign will get back to the fundamental and/or philosophical differences between Obama and McCain.

    Still 2 months to go.

During 35 years in the Senate, the fast-talking, often long-winded Biden has earned a reputation for gaffes. Republicans count two since last week’s Democratic National Convention — when he referred to Obama as “Barack America” and put himself on the top of the ticket by saying he was “running for president.”

On Wednesday, Biden made another slip of the tongue. In promising to help Americans if elected, he said, “the Biden, excuse me, the Obama-Biden administration.” Amid laughter, he added, “Believe me, you all got it right: Obama-Biden.”

^ Biden thinks he's running for President not Obama - actually Obama introduced him as the next president of the yankland in his intro speech.

Joe Biden is a known quantity and widely respected in the Capitol.
I think he was the logical choice for Obama, although some might be disappointed that the choice lacks the 'excitement' factor of picking someone like a Sarah Palin.

Not sure he's respected as you think - egotistical jerk is what most describe him as.

Exactly. Personally I hate him. He's an asshole who likes to insult the Republican party for no reason except that they're Republicans. He definitely weakens the ticket, in my opinion - dunno who I'm going to vote for now (although it probably doesn't really matter since I'm a CA resident). If Obama gets assassinated, I would not want this jerk in charge.

^That's a good point and not one many of us considered except perhaps Jet. What kind of idiot would be in charge if the President died. In McCain's case, I feel quite good about this lady.

Yes, he's like a stupid version of Jimmy Carter. He insults the opposite side for no reason just like another member of this forum does.

Weird- some of you feel more comfortable with an inexperienced small town Mayor/ small State Governor than one of the longest serving Senators, with extensive foreign policy experience. Sounds very Partisan from here.

Sabang, Biden is not the Presidential candidate. Obama is. The chances of any VP becoming President are quite remote.

Doubtful, but if Mccain actually wins, lets not forget his age. It would not be so unlikely we could see our first female US Presidant.

Biden has flubbed more in the first two weeks of being the VP candidate than GWB does in a year.

And he isn't even in the seat. The critics were howling when Bush said Austria (vs Australia) or some other mix-up.

But Biden gets a pass because ...

I really think partisanship makes the US government half as strong, efficient, productive as it could be. Some would argue deeply opposing views offer transparency. But at what cost?

I guess the rather lukewarm response to this thread does indicate that the choice of Joe Biden was anything but controversial.

And therefore a good choice one might suggest.

Some of the really stupid shit Biden has been accused of/done cannot be read without at least holding your nose.

Or that those GOP-leaning posters are more secure and don't have an irresistible urge to lash out against anything and everyone that might notionally be considered democrat.

    First Biden attacks AIPAC:
"They (AIPAC) think they know the Senate better than I do. They don't know the Senate better than I do," he said.

Biden lashed out at those who would impugn his Israel credentials, saying, "I take a backseat to no one - including AIPAC - when it comes to supporting Israel."
"They don't speak for the entire Jewish community. There are other organizations that are just as strong and consequential," he said. "AIPAC does not speak for the State of Israel."
Then he tries to kiss and make up (well the Obama press folks did - cover up for Biden flapping his gums earlier in the day and no doubt pissing off more than a few of those involved with AIPAC):

"Barack Obama and Joe Biden have both enjoyed close and effective cooperation with AIPAC over many years, grounded in their respect for its important mission to support Israel''s security and a strong US-Israel relationship," Obama spokeswoman Wendy Morigi said in a statement released later Wednesday.
"That is a mission they share, and they look forward to continuing to work closely with AIPAC on their common goals."
    All in the same day.

Biden backs Israel, criticizes AIPAC | Jerusalem Post
"Religion is an insult to human dignity. With or without it, you'd have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, it takes religion" - Steven Weinberg
