don't you ever get tired of being wrong about US politics?

9 VPs have taken over for a president who died in office or resigned...that's 20%......and in case you've forgotten (or more likely didn't know), mccain is a 72 year old cancer patient.

If the National Enquirer is fair game on the Palin thread, I guess these linkies should be fair game in a Biden thread:

Newsmax.com – Joe Biden Needs an Off Button
RC peaked my interst in Newsmax:

One of the innumerable TV talking heads made the prescient observation last week that Sen. Joe Biden “doesn’t have an off button.” He doesn’t have a lot of other buttons, either, like an honesty button, a non-partisan button, or a modesty button.

What he does have is a big ego button, a narcissism button, a windbag button, an arrogance button, a phony button, and a huge B.S. button.
Biden’s widely touted foreign policy experience is a canard, being rather a catalog of what not to do. As chairman of the foreign relations committee, he can raise a lot of dust and fog, but his judgments and pronouncements are generally wrong-headed.
One reason that Biden was a non-starter in the Democratic primary is the perception that he cannot be trusted at face value. People recall that in a previous presidential run, Biden plagiarized parts of a speech by British Labour Party leader Neal Kinnock. And, in another case, he falsified his educational record.

    And another one:
    Joe Biden: Consummate political prostitute
Sen. and Democratic vice-presidential nominee Joe Biden's declaration that the nation of Israel ought to "reconcile itself to the nuclearization of Iran" is tantamount to suggesting a woman ought to "lay back and enjoy it" should she become a victim of rape.
Biden, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, was no doubt chosen by Obama for his alleged experience in the area of foreign policy. However, a little research – easy for any of us in this age of accessible information – reveals that the senator's foreign policy has been in question for a long time.
Biden's statement, which a spokesman has since denied the senator ever uttered, is but a foretaste of the sort of blithering foreign policy to which we can look forward if Obama-Biden triumphs in November. From killing the amendment (H.R. 4444) that would sanction China in the event that they were to sell illicit weapons of mass destruction, to supporting every measure favoring unfettered foreign aid packages, Joe Biden has proven himself to be a consummate political prostitute as well as a force for the United States' geopolitical demoralization.

Haha! That last bit is a gem, and the type of yellow journalism that we're going to see a lot in the coming weeks before the election. Both Obama and McCain have promised to play nice and run a clean campaign without the smears, however, I really don't see that happening now that Biden has been invited to play.

Generally speaking that is kind of part of the role of the VP candidates - to be the attack dogs. This is suppose to allow the guys at the top of the ticket to appear to be above such things, while the guys at the bottom of the ticket piss all over the other campaigns.

527's have also evolved into the attack arms of most campaigns. Again to allow the party to appear above some of the near slanderous ads that the 527's run.

Biden was complimented as a great "knife fighter" shortly after his being chiosen.

Frankly, the Biden/Palin debates couldnt offer anymore contrasts

And for a person like me who cares but ultimately see's this as theatre, it will be interesting. sort of like one of those nature shows where a killer whale nearly beaches it's self to grab its growling four legged dinner and swim away.

I must say, I fucking love it!

The people here are correct. Biden is seen as a loudmouth camera seeking knob. I think he takes the train home to Deleware every night because he is not welcomed in Washington DC.

Joe Biden has proven himself to be a consummate political prostitute as well as a force for the United States' geopolitical demoralization.

Was he paid to entertain the Euros? Whoring himself and dragging his country into his whoring act; it goes beyond shameless and ventures into the realm of abuse. I doubt the USA consented to the participation nor was it paid.

Knife fighter? It's attack dog, you git. Biden is a spaniel compared to Palin -- she's a pitbull.
And orcas (there, a new word for you) don't attack or eat people. Get your info right, please.

Biden thinks Palin will be formidable. Yes, she will be a force to reckon with, not the least coz she's not a plagiarizing windbag and she's a quick study.

first of all, how do you know this? what is it based on? the fact that she had to go to 5 colleges in 6 years to get an undergraduate degree?
and after all the crap you posted about obama's supposed inexperience, you're now lauding someone who is a 'quick study'.

Would have been refreshing had the Obama camp not come out later in the day to kiss and make up with AIPAC.

It would not have worked because of the affair. Not even possible. A lot of politicians have not. And there are additional circumstances with his wife's cancer, and his $400 haircuts.

Just my bias. I've never thought he was good at all. He's the type of politician who wanted "end poverty" by spending money. He's done. Stick a fork in him. Thank god he wasn't chosen, because the affair would have been an issue to attack him, his character, and Obama's leadership, if he had picked him.

Also, Edwards is young and lack foreign policy experience. Biden is the counter-balance.

Biden can't tell the difference between a Brigade and a Battalion!
    Real fine VP material!
[H]eralding his own experience, Biden also said he “know(s) as much as anyone in government about” national security and foreign policy.
And for the third time since his acceptance speech a week ago, the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee confused battalions and brigades.
“Over a year and a half ago,” Biden said of Obama. “He said we need two more combat battalions in Afghanistan.”

Actually, Obama called for two more combat brigades.

A brigade is bigger than a battalion — a brigade, in fact, is composed of a varying number of battalions.

Plus, this asshole wants to put GWB on trial for the war he himself voted for!

Obama sounds like a fine CinC. Biden's remarks are irrelevant as last time I checked a VP was not the CinC. Sides, probably more important Obama's Secretary of Defense have this knowledge. Hey, McCain for Sec Defense!!! It has a nice ring to it.
