To summarize the chart,………..
(from the link) Under Democratic presidencies, job creation goes up. Every Democrat who followed a Republican did better than the Republican who preceded them. Every Republican who followed a Democrat produced fewer jobs than their predecessor.

how come we haven't heard anything from the GOP recently about privatizing social security?
in case anyone here has forgotten, their big plan was to plan was to take put this safety net into the hands of wall st.

It was never going to happen.
This just reinforces the fact that the Social Security in its present form, is a disaster, and there are not viable, and logical ways to change it.

Top GOP strategist says Steele is out as GOP chair if he keeps screwing up
Some people just don't know their place.
"What is amazing is that Steele was elected because of his communications skills, and it is those skills that are damaging the Republican Party. Before people begin to completely judge him as worthless, Steele needs to focus and knuckle down on building a strong foundation at RNC so we can begin rebuilding our majority," says a top GOP strategist who has worked for House and Senate Republican leaders. "If his implosion continues, RNC members are likely to call a special session to dump him for an effective chairman. There is not much patience for failure."

I think the Right wing Republican faithful- who might broadly be defined as those who remain loyal to the Bush administration and it's goals, and believe the 'neo-cons' are right- seem to be exhibiting a bunker mentality at the moment.
Traditionally, it was the Democrats seen as the more broad ranging, fractious party. That mantle seems to have shifted to the GOP.

It comes down to the fact that the "party of No" were in fact the starters of all this bailout stuff- something like $1 trillion was pledged by the Bush administration.
A lot of Americans are concerned at the amont of money being spent, and the GOP is tapping into this. But they can hardly do so without looking ridiculous, as they were the ones that decided it (rather than going the Libertarian or Free market route), and who started the Bailouts. So of course, they bring Ron Paul back in from the cold. I'm surprised Ron Paul doesn't pull them up on their hypocricy actually, given the appalling way he was treated by them in the Primaries. And you can bet he will be dropped like a hot potato once his usefulness is expended.
The reality is however, the true free market route was never an option. It would have meant a total collapse of the banking system, credit lines, working capital for enterprise and so on. Followed by soup kitchens and probably widespread civil unrest. Such valid arguments as are out there concern the extent of the bailout package- and I should point out some economists such as Paul Krugman argue it is too small.
The GOP needs a leader like Jack Kemp. May he rest in peace.
