^ BCS is spot on with his description, care to discuss the finer points of intelligence vis-a-vis Bush, Reagan and Palin instead?
Why on earth do you read blogs like this? And do you really think quoting someone like this give you some kudos-points?Originally Posted by Boon Mee

No doubt Palin is going to make a lot of money out of her book recounting her few weeks of national fame. She is a national embarrassment, but none the less still has enough supporters in a country the size of USA to suck a few dollars out of them and get very rich. One of the reasons USA is so often held up to ridicule around the world. Not that such a thing would worry people like Palin.
Sarah absolutely does not have what it takes to make it big in national politics, and frankly she would be a fool to try.
She can make more money for less stress from book sales, and then getting some lucrative media job after her term as Governor. Can't say I'd blame her really, and she does like money.

Sure, but that doesn't seem to have harmed the likes of Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, Sean Hannity or Michelle Malkin. All the media bosses care about is that she will have drawing power with the Right wing Faithul.Originally Posted by Panda

But so is GWB.
I would love to see them both on a show together. Reckon it would make the top ratings. The satirists dont even need to send them up. Just let em go on their own. Probably the two biggest political clowns USA has ever produced.

Ah yes, and Australia made international headlines with Pauline Hanson, the fish'n'chip lady. That was fun.

^ Sure. She was fun and venomously right of right. Hated anyone who wasn't white. Just like most of you Ozzers pretending to be libbie. Hey, you should have an adopt an aboriginal friend day. Do YOU have an aboriginal friend, hatter?Let's see, which countrymen led the charge of raping East Timor of its natural resources?

Jet has a basket full of red herrings to toss when things arnt going her way.

And there you are, predictably, completely wrong . . . as with everything you say, you have no clue. Your life is a throw-away line you heard in some conversation you happened to overhear as you have no friends to have discussions with.Originally Posted by Jet Gorgon
What rubbish- have you ever been to Australia Jet? PH was an interesting phenomenon though- given the amount of Asian immigration into Oz both then and now, she attracted an inordinate amount of attention in the region, and struck a chord with a minority in Australia. I was living in HK at the time, married to a HK'er. If you want to start a thread on her, feel free Jet.Originally Posted by Jet Gorgon

Wrong Jet, she actually had some good points. Basically it was about stricter immi policies, and looking at the trouble the Leb's are causing in Sydney who can blame her.Sure. She was fun and venomously right of right. Hated anyone who wasn't white.
I can't remeber the name of the band or the song but many years ago the lyrics went something like this.
everyones welcome, but you'll march our march and you'll drink our beer.

Oooo, hit a nerve there, did I?
Yes, Sabang, I lived in Oz for one year. Quite enough for me, thank you.
If I remember correctly, Oz had a White Policy until 1975 wasn't it? -- quite a bit behind the US which you still bash for racism (oh, up til now with BO as Pres-elect). You folks here may be the beacon of civil rights and multiculturalism, but please do not tell me most of your citizens are thus. Any aboriginals in your parliament down there? How many aborigines and Asians live in your immediate neighbourhoods? I think the concept of many Ozzers' idea of ethnicity is the range of ethnic restaurants about.
I think Hanson conveyed the opinions of many of your citizens. Guess she's an embarrassment for y'all here tho.
I think I'll read up some more on Oz business and ethical practises, especially in East Timor. I already heard stories from bizmen who were there.
Here's a quote from Enc Britannica about your White Policy, just so you don't think I made it up and in case you forgot.
The Australian colonies had passed restrictive legislation as early as the 1860s. This was directed specifically at Chinese immigrants, but later a popular cry was raised against the increasingly numerous Japanese—especially after Japan’s victory over China in the 1894–95 Sino-Japanese War—and against South Asians and Kanakas (South Pacific islanders) as well. Fear of military invasion by Japan, the threat to the standard of living presented by the cheap but efficient Asian labourers, and white racism (oops) were the principal factors behind the White Australia movement. In 1901 the Immigration Restriction Actof Australia effectively ended all non-European immigration by providing for entrance examinations in European languages. Supplementary legislation in 1901 provided for the deportation by 1906 of the country’s kanakas. Popular support for White Australia, always strong, was bolstered at the Paris Peace Conference in 1919 when the Australian delegation led the fight to defeat a Japanese-sponsored racial-equality amendment to the League of Nations Covenant. From about 1950 on, the policy became less stringent, first under Liberal governments and also (more markedly) under Labor, from 1972 to 1975.

^ You don't get the Hint do you jettie?? Totally Off topic- start a new thread if you wish. If all you want to do is stuff this thread, expect deletions to follow. You might be surprised at some of the similar Issues in Us & Oz politics, then again you might not.
P.s:- I think you're referring to the White Australia policy? I don't know of any White party.
Not popular then? I wonder why.Originally Posted by Jet Gorgon

Governor Palin, you had your 15 minutes of fame, and now they’re thankfully over. America has far more important things to do than listen to you right now. If, in the future, the war against terror or another political, economic, social or environmental meltdown demands the best mooseburger recipe, rest assured we will call you at 3:00 am (EST).
best thing that ever happened to the Democrat campaign , Palin.

Where did I say White PARTY?
This is off topic? Sure. All of our thread posts deviate. I was making a comparison; since you lot love to trash Palin, I drew a comparison with a female politician in OZ that was ridiculed. It seems you take umbrage at me reminding folks of her. Embarrassed? She got a lot of votes, no? Not bad for a fish'n'chip lady, while you ridicule a US state governor. Fair, innit?
I left OZ coz I couldn't stand the lack of manners and intelligence. Almost all of my friends and lovers there were farang, except for one lady from Perth. She was great.
