A female US VP?
I think it will make good TV.
Aren't VPs mushrooms?
So what does it matter!
VPs only attend award ceremonies and get briefed. Their job (save Cheney) is to basically, do nothing.
In McCain's case there is more significance, because of his age of 72. You never know what can happen.
Nonetheless, the real race is between Obama and McCain.
^ any links to her picks?
i saw a report on TV that before their appearance in dayton, mccain only met palin once.
a single time.
i'm really starting to think that she wasn't his choice, and he bowed to the RNC.
and doesn't this look like a 'take your daughter to work day' photo...
https://teakdoor.com/images/smilies1/You_Rock_Emoticon.gif
or maybe it's a 'take your grandfather out of the nursing home day' photo.
.
McCain's choice has the smell of a publicity stunt designed to puncture any push in the polls Obama would receive from the DNC. Will we be surprised to learn next week that Palin has to step back and be replaced by someone closer to McCain's age with some political experience. If not then I guess McCain is toast.
correction.....it seems that mccain and palin met twice before their appearance in dayton yesterday.
meeting number 1: they were introduced at a conference in february.
meeting number 2: thursday morning where he offered her the position
and they spoke on the phone for the first time on sunday....and we know ol' john isn't sending emails.
so let's recap...an introduction in feb, a phone call on sunday, and he offered her the position on thursday.
^^
here's the link to the above info...

From your article Ray-
“We’re a party that desperately needs women and desperately needs young people,” noted Ed Rollins, a longtime Republican consultant. And the 44-year-old Palin brings both of those qualities.
I can think of no other reason for this admirable woman being picked. Astonishing.
Britney Spears is younger than Palin, and a woman -- and far more recognized.
^ Mebbe, but Paris actually put her hat in the ring for Pres. Should've picked her.

This is so common knowledge, that it's a waste of posting space to even mention.

I think it was because the race is unique, and more importantly, very close according national (but not electoral) polling.
Folks we're talking below the level of Politics 101, here.
Seems that mccain has had her pull her recent ad supporting ted stevens (inspite of his being under indictment for PORK++++). Real fighter, isn't she .......Quote:

Ms. Palin, in her first national appearance yesterday, revealed the occupational specialty, date and unit that her son will be deployed in Iraq. If this is the type of stupidity that we can expect from her in the future, staring down Vladamir Putin across the bargaining table might be a bit beyond her capabilities. She's very shaggable in a milfish sort of way, however.

Pretty entertaining to watch.
I think it's a risky choice. I'm not sure Hilary supporters will magically jump to support her just because she's a woman when her views are clearly conservative.
And, above all, for both candidates, the VP remains relatively insignificant. The reason people elect a President is for the candidate himself, not his VP pick.
I think it will prove to be a brilliant choice. She's clearly a breath of fresh air.
