Thai Nazi School - Thewpaingarm Bangkok

I just read a thread on this website:

TEFL School Reviews Forum • View topic - Thewpaingarm School in Bangkok

That's about a Thai School in Bangkok where the students were allowed to dress as Nazis and parade around the school giving each other a sieg heil. Now, nothing wrong with teaching the little bumpkins about the holocaust, but treating it as some sort of pantomime is insulting to probably just about everyone on this board as well as the memories of the victims and soldiers who were involved in this period of evil from our history.

When the Thais most revered person is denigrated in anyway, their ambassador will make an official complaint, the government will block websites and her people will launch vitriol on websites attacking insensitive heathen farang.

Should we stand back and take it up the arse, or announce to the world what a bunch of cnuts the owners, teachers and staff of the school are?

Most Thais have never heard of the holocaust.

Many do not even know about the genocide in Cambodia either

Waiting for some apologist to come on and tell us it's an ancient oriental symbol.

This is an old report on this school, I think it happened a couple of years ago.

One thing that springs to mind here is the genocide of native Americans. Go to a kids fancy dress party anywhere in the western world and there will some kid dressed as a cowboy shooting his gun at an Indian.

When did this happen? (Has to be recent to be newsworthy)

What was the rationale behind it and who's idea was it?

What is the background of this school. (eg location, size, students, ages)

Has it been reported in the Press?

If there's a teacher there who can go on the record, I should be able to get this into the international newspapers without much problem. If its an old story, then its can just stay as Forum fodder for grumpy old men. The marching kids seem to be more interested in their fingernails than gassing Jews.

answer....it was december 2006. Not news or of interest to anyone.

The swastika is an ancient symbol that has been used for over 3,000 years. (That even predates the ancient Egyptian symbol, the Ankh!) Artifacts such as pottery and coins from ancient Troy show that the swastika was a commonly used symbol as far back as 1000 BCE.
During the following thousand years, the image of the swastika was used by many cultures around the world, including in China, Japan, India, and southern Europe. By the Middle Ages, the swastika was a well known, if not commonly used, symbol but was called by many different names: Though it is not known for exactly how long, Native Americans also have long used the symbol of the swastika.

    The Original Meaning
The word "swastika" comes from the Sanskrit svastika - "su" meaning "good," "asti" meaning "to be," and "ka" as a suffix.
Until the Nazis used this symbol, the swastika was used by many cultures throughout the past 3,000 years to represent life, sun, power, strength, and good luck. Even in the early twentieth century, the swastika was still a symbol with positive connotations. For instance, the swastika was a common decoration that often adorned cigarette cases, postcards, coins, and buildings. During World War I, the swastika could even be found on the shoulder patches of the American 45th Division and on the Finnish air force until after World War II.

A freakish leader who is worshipped.

    Humans casually slaughtered.

    Propaganda, mantras, oaths.

Institutionalized and legal discrimination against non-Thais.

So, a fat drunk kraut paints a moustache on to an image of the K### a couple of years back and received 10 years in the clink - later deported.

The K is revered so much that you go to prison if you mention his name and a negative connotation can be found in anything you say. However, it's ok for his people to take the piss out of the holocaust and its victims. Even a baboon understands there's a big difference between respecting a rich and privileged person and 60 million dead people (I've included the dead of the other nations who were victims of WWII).

Even a baboon, but apparently not the Thais, Ant or Jandajoy.
