    Mugabe is a Scumbag

Of the highest order. Greeted into power as a Liberator by the international community, he has single handedly turned Zimbabwe into an absolute hellhole. Once the Breadbasket of Africa, now the Basketcase of Africa. A good percentage of the street hookers in neighbouring Sth Africa are now Zimbabwean, and there have recently been riots there because of the influx of Zim refugees, and the competition for menial jobs that comes with it.

Does anyone have a single good thing to say about this bloke?

Anyway, voted out in the last 'elections'- in spite of the blatant intimidation campaign and electoral fraud carried out by his Goons, the Zanu PF. He's called 'Presidential run-off' elections, and the predictable Terror campaign against Opposition politicians and supporters is underway-

    Zimbabwe detains opposition leaders

The standard-bearer for Zimbabwe's opposition was twice detained by the police on Thursday, and one of his most important deputies was arrested to face treason charges. The events underscored the daunting obstacles to campaigning against President Robert Mugabe in the two weeks before a presidential runoff.

The opposition presidential candidate, Morgan Tsvangirai, who was detained twice last week, was held up by the police twice more on Thursday in what was supposed to have been a day of rallies and campaigning, his party said.

The arrest of the deputy, Tendai Biti, was even more chilling for the party, the Movement for Democratic Change. Biti, the party's secretary general, was swiftly apprehended at Harare's airport on Thursday as he returned from South Africa after a self-imposed absence of two months. He will be charged with treason, a police spokesman said...

Since Tsvangirai returned to campaign in Zimbabwe, his party's rallies have frequently been canceled by the authorities, and party officials say Mugabe appears determined to hang onto power through violence, intimidation and obstruction of a functioning democracy."

Zimbabwe detains opposition leaders - International Herald Tribune

I'm no fan of the Burmese junta, but if you ask me the international community should keep them on the backburner until this arsehole is kicked out, and preferably dead.

When Mugabe travels abroad he should just be arrested and taken to the Hague, I am sure there will be enough evidence forthcoming to make the charges stick. As for ZANU PF they are the real problem in Zimbabwe, if I remember correctly every freedom fighter who fought during the war was promised land to farm.

His moustache is on the cutting edge of fashion.

He's just another garden variety dictator who distinguishes himself by making disparaging comments about the UK. All-in-all not a bad guy.

    damn, caught again...

Mugabe's desperation to remain in power is pathetic. He's offering humanitarian-donated food to people in return for their identity papers (required for voting). I really don't think his public image can get worse.

the really sad thing is that morgan t claims victory in that he won 51% of the vote. if you consider that his only real opposition, mad bob mugabe probably won the other 49%, what does it say about the voters in zimbabwe?
mugabe is not unique in africa. it took the world this long to notice him, that is all. i see that the idiot was actually awarded honorary degrees by some ill-advised international universities, who also took a decade or two to realise what a twat this guy is

Robert Mugabe's militia burn opponent’s wife alive

The men who pulled up in three white pickup trucks were looking for Patson Chipiro, head of the Zimbabwean opposition party in Mhondoro district. His wife, Dadirai, told them he was in Harare but would be back later in the day, and the men departed.

An hour later they were back. They grabbed Mrs Chipiro and chopped off one of her hands and both her feet. Then they threw her into her hut, locked the door and threw a petrol bomb through the window.

Strange how eventual dictators, murderers and others are given the red carpet and support by international groups and powerful governements to take over power of the country they eventually distroy.
Won't name the main offending country as the last time I done this I got a red (BUT EVERYONE KNOWS ANYWAY).

What is needed is to create stories of nuclear proliferation, manufacture of weapons of mass destruction, chemicals weapons etc and the mighty mouth of the world will spring into action and wipe this muderous animal out.

Shit does Zimbabwe have oil. No there fcuked.

At the end of the day the institutions that created the problem are just as responsible to go in and fix the problem.

Waiting until the bastard dies of old age seems the only good result.

ok, lets get back on topic here, magabe is a scumbag

sabang,i found this just as i was watching bbc news, a village of people who had fought back were giving an interview, they said they will vote against him
ok maybe they are tough, but that is the last youll see of that village, all of them gone, and for what and why? i would think a lot of people would say, oil, money, power? no way, the media just fcuked that little group of loyalist, indepedant people, big style, think he wont just plough that village? think again
i dont usually put my opionions across here because ok its a fun site, thats why i posted in issues, but mr mugabe has lived a long life which has well surpassed his station in life and why? because theres too much going on outside africa, and not enough attention to africa, stop me if im wrong but it would be a tragedy if africa sliped further down the road to ruin

I think we need to see Mr. Mugabe in the Hague. I am sure there are "in country' issues that he and Zanu PF are responsible for. I remember when everyone said that Ian Smith and the the white ruling party were exploiting the people.
Mr.Smith will be turning in his grave now after seeing what this megalomaniac has done to what was once the most prosperous nation in Africa. He leaves Zimbabwe to travel on a regular basis just lift him and transport him to the Hague for trial. I would like the same for the Burmese junta leaders but they do not travel so frequently.

People like him need to be destroyed. He's nothing but a slavemaster. Someone should have hollowed out his skull while he was in Europe. It's a shame that free countries support invading countries like Iraq yet they don't do anything about assholes like Mugabe and the generals in Burma.

Mugabe: 'How can a pen fight a gun?'

He ain't gonna give up power, and if the opposition wins, there will be war. The terror campaign against opposition supporters and politicians is already in full swing. This is MugabeScums most definitive statement yet:-

"Robert Mugabe gave warning yesterday that he would not cede power if he loses next week’s election to the Opposition in his most explicit statement yet of his refusal to respect the result.

State-controlled media reported his comments to supporters at an election rally, the latest in a series of increasingly menacing threats as Zimbabwe counts down to the June 27 presidential run-off poll. Mr Mugabe’s military-backed regime has been carrying out a campaign of violence aimed at wiping out the opposition vote.
“We fought for this country, and a lot of blood was shed,” Mr Mugabe told his supporters. “We are not going to give up our country because of a mere X. How can a ballpoint fight with a gun?”

The warning came a day after he declared: “We are ready to go to war.” Evidence, say observers, of mounting concerns that he may not have done enough to secure the vote.

Mr Mugabe’s threat coincided with a sudden worsening in violence in the townships around Harare, as mobs of hundreds of Zanu (PF) youths marched through the streets at night, chanting war songs, dragging people out of their homes and beating them up with sticks, iron rods and axes. Until then the terror campaign had been confined largely to rural areas where security forces and militia groups have conspired to create “no-go zones”, banning aid organisations and all outsiders to prevent them witnessing the intimidation.

The level of violence has increased dramatically in the past two weeks, moving from beatings and torture to mutilation and killing, with several victims burnt alive and others shot.

The run-off vote was triggered after Morgan Tsvangirai, the opposition Movement for Democratic Change candidate, beat Mr Mugabe in March’s presidential elections but, according to the widely discredited official results, fell short of the 50 per cent needed for outright victory.

... Zimbabwe has barred monitors from Western countries, allowing in only those from the African Union and the Southern African Development Community. Neither of those organisations has ever given Zimbabwe a negative verdict on its elections, despite widespread fraud since 2002.

... Some have speculated that the Government might call off the election at the last minute if it is not confident of winning but that victory by any means remains their goal. "

Robert Mugabe warns Zimbabwe's voters: 'How can a pen fight a gun?' - Times Online

I think it's time for the international community to get some troops on standby- the only people these scum will listen to are those with a bigger stick.

Probably just put the winner under "house arrest". Seems a proven way for dictators to deal with the democratically elected.

The Opposition withdrew under violence and intimidation, Mugabescum was sworn in as President, the UN & African Union were too toothless to condemn him.
    Thats old news.

Now he's running out of paper to print Banknotes.

    Mugabe out of Monopoly money

HARARE: It has come to this - Zimbabwe is about to run out of the paper to print money on.
Fidelity Printers & Refiners, the state-owned company that tirelessly churns out bank notes for the Mugabe regime, was thrown into a crisis early this month after a German company stopped supplying bank note paper because of concerns over Zimbabwe's recent violent presidential election, widely seen as fraudulent by international observers.
The printing operation slowed drastically. Two-thirds of the 1000-strong workforce was ordered to take leave, and two of the three money-printing shifts were cancelled.
The result on the streets was an immediate cash crunch.
"If you think this currency shortage is bad, wait two weeks. By then it will be a disaster," said a senior Fidelity staffer, who spoke on condition of anonymity. The paper will run out in two weeks, he said....

Despite the recent currency shortage, the Zimbabwe dollar has continued to slide against the US dollar and shopkeepers are increasing prices steeply.
Before the crunch, a beer at a pub in Harare cost $15 billion. At 5pm on July 4, it cost $100 billion ($US4 at the time) in the same bar. An hour later, the price had gone up to $150 billion ($US6).

fucking awesome, I guess there is a limit after all for spiraling inflation

with a credit crunch like that, they will have no choice but remove manually a few 0 from those notes,

When everything else fails, the only way to stop inflation is to run out of paper

It's almost hard to believe now that there was genuine hope, excitment and a sense of promise for the future when Mugabe first came to power.
