Yes, God is real.
No, it's a big scam.
Not sure, I'll know when I die.

God is real AND religions are essentially a scam. I'm definitely with Stroller on this one. God is evident everywhere, that evidence being the natural beauty, order and complexity of the world. As the deists like to say, "God gave us reason, not religion".
(I'm glad Texpat is keeping score, because I'm not sure if this post means that the American nonbelievers' win streak has been stopped at 5.)
^ I basically go along with that.

I have no problem with people saying that they don't believe in God.
People that say that God doesn't exist, there is no proof etc etc. Well that is your opinion and there is plenty of proof.
As I do believe in God that must mean all of you who say he does not exist think that I am a liar.
News is what someone, somewhere is trying to suppress - everything else is just advertising.
One could choose to call it evidence of god. I agree nature is evidence of a system of order but I do not believe this order is the result of some supreme intelligent being but rather a product of the way the universe works. From mankind's most primitive times we have always attributed god/gods/spirits as the cause of an observable effect we can not explain. As we increase understanding of the powers within the universe and how they all interact our perception of god evolves accordingly. This evolutionary perception of "god" will continue indefinitely for the simple reason humans seem to have an insatiable need to explain the unexplainable. We will never reach the point where all things can be explained but in the distant future our current belief's will be looked upon as quaint mythology!Originally Posted by floorpotato

^ by that logic, does this mean that truth is to believe ? what if I believe that the sky is green, is that any true ?

What do you mean by real?
I'm an atheist, so I don't believe in the physical existence of any kind of supernatural being with superhuman powers. But God as an idea is certainly real and he/she/it exists in the minds of believers in the same way that joy or envy exist in peoples' minds. And like any abstract noun, God can affect behaviour here in the physical world.
The sleep of reason brings forth monsters.
And belief in god becomes even more believable when millions agree with your belief.Originally Posted by benbaaa

People are individuals and they believe in different things God is one of them, and no I would not call you a liar, you have the right to your own opinion. But at the same time I will ask if you also believe that God created the world we live in, cause that's a bit harder to swallow.Originally Posted by MeMock

That is a central part of the Christian understanding of 'god'. He is the creator.Originally Posted by Dalton
