I think Obama has a real chance. I must admit, the guy is growing on me. Intelligent, articulate, multicultural, and does not always run with the pack.

Maybe he is a good heir incumbent.

I called it 2 weeks ago.

Obama wins.

He's presidential. Many folks around the world will latch on to the hatred immediately.

Hate to sound like a fcuking naysayer, but that's exactly what will happen.

GWB has congealed the hatred. World opinion seeks a figure they can skirt off the coattails.

Absolute resentment, fiscal instability, diplomatic strife ... the winner is a loser. doesn't matter in world opinion. Hopefully the US can chose a leader that, like Bush, can see beyond the din -- Dem or Rep. The world craves leadership. It's quaking for a leader and that leader aint coming from Russia or China or India.

All candidates are a part of the establishment, as they have to be.

The only hope I would have is for Obama.

I worry about him.

I am for him.

Obama sure came out of left field, he speaks extremely well and does not seem to backed by any special interest groups.

Obama gives people hope again, of a young and vibrant and optimistic America. One where a black kid can become President. A true American story.

The Republicans will have to live with the bad taste left in everyone's mouth by GWB. He has been the most polarizing President in recent memory.

Obama is like a freight train. He seems to be gaining speed and picking up more believers each day - sorry for the mixed metaphor.

Americans don't really care how experienced their President is. They care about leadership, about morals, and about charisma. There are plenty of gnomes in the think tanks Obama can appoint to be his experts in areas he doesn't know. Americans know that. They want a righteous leader now. They want a change.

Hey, sounds like a campaign speech. Jeeze, here I am, a slightly conservative moderate extolling the virtues of a liberal.

perhaps i don't understand....are you saying that obama will become a despised world figure? if so, i think you're waaaay off base. the world will rally around obama...and if the bush economy continues to spiral down over the next few years, there's a very good chance he'll unfairly be more popular abroad than he is at home.

perhaps, but i think what they care most about is judgment.

obama knew this war was a mistake and he made that clear.....the vast majority of americans now know this to be true, but at the time, they bought the bullshit from white house.

I haven't been following as closely as I would like to and don't know him well enough to comment, but yours seem fair enough at least on the surface...though we can expect fear tactics to be used by both sides if things get desperate or even as a last resort both in the Primaries or in the Main Event, it remains to be seen how persuasive they are.

Problem is, and here is where cynicism cuts in, I can't see the argument holding that him becoming Pres would pacify the terminal griping by the hoards of blacks that they're put down and not given a chance in the USA...where it suits them they will treat is as the one exception, and the real diehards may even distort the reality by claiming the honkies gave the Presidency to a black man to shut them up, with business as usual after 2012.

Fact is, if facts are ever relevant, the US is the most progressive nation on this planet, with the UK a close second, despite never having a serious black candidate for the top job.

The times are just right for another JFK America.

JFK was a supply-sider, who avoided racial issues. A pretty conservative guy, JFK was.

I'm talking the sizzle really, not the steak. JFK was charismatic and enormously popular internationally- sure, he had faults.
You'd be amazed how many Brit's of 'a certain age' go misty eyed when you mention his assassination.

I'll never forget that day. I was in the 3rd grade. They pulled the entire school out of class and we assembled on the playground. The principal told the entire assembly what had happened. Teachers, students, janitors, everyone was balling. School was dismissed. Went home to find my mother in uncontrollable tears watching the TV. We were all glued to the TV for the next 24 hours.

As sharp in my memory as yesterday. No President has ever invoked such love in my lifetime.

Why in the U.S.A do they call these things "debates"? All they do is talk about their own policies, they never seem to be pressured into backing up what they are proposing by the other candidates, face to face. In the UK we have debates on TV where the politicians really debate it out with each other.

Look at his domestic policies alone, and you'll find some really bad decisions, IMO.

And I don't believe in following polls.
