Gov Lingle (Hawaii) rook awhile to warm up, but she's a spear hunter!
Just in case any missed this in the Sarah Palin thread. A significant turn of events which could change the outcome of the election.
The Dems are in big trouble. God is on the side of the GOP.
Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin told ministry students at her former church that the United States sent troops to fight in the Iraq war on a "task that is from God."
In an address last June, the Republican vice presidential candidate also urged ministry students to pray for a plan to build a $30 billion natural gas pipeline in the state, calling it "God's will."
Palin asked the students to pray for the troops in Iraq, and noted that her eldest son, Track, was expected to be deployed there.
"Our national leaders are sending them out on a task that is from God," she said. "That's what we have to make sure that we're praying for, that there is a plan and that plan is God's plan."
Palin: Iraq war 'a task that is from God' - Yahoo! News
^ Old news, Norts. Don't forget that the Reps pray before their convention openings, too. Katie Couric apologised to listeners for a program break but explained that the station would get into trouble if it broadcast then. Libby press at work.
Take note so do the Dems! Old news? Open the link and you might see how old it is.;)Quote:

Jet, do you also see the US' military actions as being God's will? Whose God? Mine didn't tell me anything of the sort, aren't Christians supposed to be a peaceful people . . . amazing how similar the Koran and the Bible are . . . in theory and how bastardised they become in practise.
God's war? Fuck that for a laugh and I hope God smites those that use his name for their unholy deeds . . .
(Whew, religio-talk from me? My parents would be bewildered)
old news? :)Quote:

Is it still Sept 3rd where you're posting from?
The artical Norton posted might have been from Sept 3rd, but reports were out about this as early as Sept 2, which means the main stream press started posting this at least two days ago.
Palin Asks for Prayers That War Be "Task That Is From God" | The Trail | washingtonpost.com
From the Washington Post - Sept 2:
As I understand it she said this in Church in June, and it was posted on the Church website. So it has been out there for folks to see for months. No reason for anyone to report on it until after McCain picked her.Quote:
"I can do my part in doing things like working really, really hard to get a natural gas pipeline, a $30 billion dollar project that's going to create a lot of jobs for people in Alaska, and we're going to have a lot of energy flowing through here -- and pray about that also -- I think God's will has to be done in unifying people and companies to get that gas line built, so pray for that," she told them, "but I can do my job there, in developing our natural resources, and doing things like getting the roads paved, and making sure our troopers have their cop cars and their uniforms, their guns, and making sure our public schools are funded. But really, all that stuff doesn't do any good if the people of Alaska's heart isn't right with God."
Switching to the war in Iraq, Palin told the group of students that they should not only pray for men and women in the military but to make sure the leaders of this country are sending U.S. soldiers "out on a task that is from God. That's what we have to make sure that we're praying for, that there is a plan and that that plan is God's plan."
I don't agree with what was said because I don't believe in god. But it is not uncommon for those that are devout to believe what ever their task/goal that god also believe in the same task/goal. Heck most US sports team pray to god prior to the game thinking that god wants them to win more than the other team. Funny bit is both teams are doing it, and both teams seem to think god really wants them to win more than the other team.
Not any more. The site's been pulled. :)Quote:

Ain't it the truth. God is a big factor in America. Separation between religion and politics is non existent. So far the country has done pretty good at separating religion and the state but it to is slowly creeping in. Dangerous stuff if the founding fathers can be believed.Quote:

I hope she is wearing the 280K earrings.
Are they on loan like for the Oscars? Besides what do you care if she actually owns them? You could own a pair too if you ever came up with an idea which would help make people's lives easier or safer or more comfortable... use your brain and think of something.
I do own a pair. my daddy made a fortune on booze and when he croaked I bought them.
They are so very lovely. I clip them on my nipples.
Oh, and please call me kunt like my new daddy does.
:)
Why would I want to do that?
Because you are a reactionary? :)
McCain gave a crap speech. He will lose big time if this is the best he can do.
The dude cannot speak, its that simple. This is why Obama has to debate him.
Speeches aren't his strong point - everyone knows this. Debates - dare say Obama will be schooled.
^ TThe messiah doesn't do very well without a scrip and his tele-promter.
I thought the McCain speech was fine.
I especially like the part about leading following or getting out of the way. The issue of energy independance is very big and has very large worldwide economic implications.
We should be paying close attention to what's going on here. I thinks.:afro:
I’m not sure how the Palin comments are comparable to the Rev Wright, with the exception that they are both related to religion?
Rev Wright has been shown to be a pretty controversial character, and even Obama has thrown him to the curb.
As I explained in an earlier post what Palin said is not really very extreme when one considers it was coming from a person that appears to be devout in her religion. It is really pretty common for folks regardless or race, gender, or party, in the US, who are devoutly religious to claim god is on their side – Or that they are carrying out acts with the support or in the name of god.
Having problems with reading comprehension there RC? I posted basically the same thing (that there was no reason to report on it until after McCain picked her), and you even included my comment in your reply.
First you called is a "load of crap", and then you repeated part of what I said stated a bit differently? So I guess you feel the load of crap part was the bit you did not rephrase?
didnt see the mccain speech -- anymore characterizations from those did?
