Yeah, I never said it was the best, just highest sales. I think their high sales are more based on the case a day folks than the have a couple IPAs at the pub folks.
When I was back in Canada for Covid I drank all different kinds and enjoyed them all, now its just Leo so I'm obviously not a picky beer drinker.

Here’s how annexing Canada would change American politics
    By JONATHAN LAI
    01/08/2025 10:00 AM EST

So after weeks of this recurring bit, Score decided to take Trump literally, not seriously: What are the immediate political implications of Canada becoming part of the United State.

The answer, our analysis found, is that Democrats would benefit significantly, with the new great state of Canada serving as a kind of second California, a massive blue state that would hold dozens of House seats and create a huge Democratic advantage in the Electoral College.Canada would be solidly blue, and we’re not just talking about the temperature: An informal survey of our colleagues in the Great White North — subscribe to Ottawa Playbook! — found they were confident their countrymen would vote for Democrats, and a hypothetical preelection poll found Canadians overwhelmingly siding with Kamala Harris over Trump.

With Canada secured, Democrats would need to win just two battleground states in the 2028 presidential election. (That doesn’t make the White House a sure thing: Trump would have still defeated Harris in 2024 even with Canada in the union, since she lost every battleground.)Let’s run some numbers.

The Senate is easiest: Canada would get two senators, and given its overall liberal politics there’s little question they’d be Democrats. That would shrink Republicans’ margin from the current Congress slightly: There would be 53 Republicans and 49 Democrats in the Senate. Republicans would be able to afford two defections, with Vice President-elect JD Vance breaking a 51-51 tie.

The House is more complicated (and fun). Keeping the chamber at 435 members, reapportionment would give Canada 45 seats. That’d be just one fewer than California, which would have 46 seats. In total, 31 states would lose seats to Canada. California would lose six; Texas would lose four; Florida would lose three; New York, Illinois, Pennsylvania, and North Carolina would lose two each; and two dozen would each lose one seat. That would almost certainly boost Democrats’ numbers in the House, but it’s impossible to know to what extent, because of redistricting. A blue state can lose a red seat and vice versa, and some of Canada’s 45 districts would be Republican. Aggressive gerrymandering by either party could significantly shift the outcomes.

That’s a daunting disadvantage for Republicans, but not an insurmountable one. Trump, after all, would still have won.
But 2028 would sure be interesting — especially once Greenland becomes the 52nd state.

    Just a moment...
There's a map in the link too.

My father always told me that 'Pearl Harbour' was the 51st state. My school teacher said it wasn't. My father then said 'it was when the Japs finished with it'.

Stephen Harper has ‘a real problem’ with Donald Trump’s claims about Canada

The former prime minister described Trump’s recent statements as incorrect and out-of-sync with the longstanding friendship between Canada and the United States.

    Updated 50 mins ago Jan. 13, 2025

OTTAWA — Former prime minister Stephen Harper says he has “a real problem” with some of Donald Trump’s recent statements about Canada, describing them as incorrect and out-of-sync with the long-standing friendship between this country and the United States.

His comments come after former prime minister Jean Chrétien wrote an op-ed in the Globe and Mail calling on Trump to “give your head a shake,” after the U.S. president-elect spoke of using “economic force” to annex Canada.

Trump has also repeatedly taunted Prime Minister Justin Trudeau as the “governor” of a fictional “51st” American state.

Harper, the leader who helped found the modern Conservative party now dominating in national opinion polls, made his comments in an interview on a podcast with conservative commentator Gabriel Groisman. “I must admit to being shocked by some of the things he said,” Harper said in the interview

Describing himself as probably “the most pro-American prime minister in the history of our country,” Harper pushed back on a series of Trump’s recent claims about Canada. He questioned Trump’s insistence that the U.S. is subsidizing Canada to the tune of tens of billions of dollars, which Trump has
raised when discussing the need for punishing 25-per-cent tariffs on all Canadian imports.

Echoing recent comments from current Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre, Harper said the “modest” trade deficit that the U.S. has with Canada is largely because the country buys so much oil and gas from Western Canada — fossil fuels sold at a “discount” because the Canadian market relies so much on the sole customer of the U.S.

“It’s actually Canada that subsidizes the United States in this regard,” Harper said. “Maybe Canadians, if Mr. Trump feels this way, should be looking at selling their oil and gas to other people.” Harper also said he doesn’t understand how Trump can argue the U.S. is paying for Canadian defence, stating that the two countries have a partnership to defend North America.

“The United States does that because it’s in the vital interest of the United States. Do you want Canada to be a neutral country?” Harper said.

The former prime minister from 2006 to 2015 then took aim at Trump’s claim — which he made in threatening steep tariffs — that illegal migrants and drugs are entering the U.S. from Canada and causing crime.

Statistics from the U.S. government show seizures of fentanyl and the interception of people illegally entering that country from Canada are a fraction of those at the American border with Mexico, prompting Harper to strongly criticize outgoing President Joe Biden’s policies.

“Of course President Trump wants to change that. But there is no migrant flow happening from Canada to the United States in any significant numbers. And I’m going to tell you right now: guns, drugs, crime — most of those things flow north, not south,” Harper said.

“I have a real problem with some of the things Donald Trump is saying,” he added. “It doesn’t sound to me like the pronouncements of somebody who’s a friend, a partner, and an ally — which is what I’ve always thought the United States is for our country.”

In an interview this weekend with CTV, Chrétien — who was Liberal prime minister from 1993 to 2003 — said he doesn’t expect Trump’s threats to escalate into a trade war. I’m not losing sleep over that, because they will probably suffer much more than we will if we have that type of war,” he said.

^It isn't just me that thinks that, William.

The Canada Border Services Agency says there’s been an increase in the confiscation of illegal items at border crossings, as well as a jump in inadmissible foreign nationals attempting to enter Canada from the U.S., this year compared to last.
According to the agency, there have been more seizures of dangerous drugs, firearms and stolen vehicles in the first 10 months of 2024 compared to the same period in 2023.

From Jan. 1 through Oct. 31, agents seized:

    • 15,500 weapons and 850 firearms at ports of entry with the vast majority coming from the U.S. The number of firearms seized is 50 more than in the same timeframe in 2023.
    • 25,600 kg of illegal drugs
    • 5,000 kg of cannabis
    • 547,000 kg of undeclared tobacco
    • 4.9 kg of fentanyl, an increase of 775 per cent over the same period in 2023
    • 3,955 kg of cocaine, an increase of 168 per cent over the same period in 2023
    • 37 kg of heroin
    • 21,457 kg of other drugs, narcotics and precursor chemicals
    • 237 kg of other opioids (including opium, methadone, morphine and morphine base)

Agents also intercepted 2,070 stolen vehicles before they were shipped abroad which, according to the CBSA, is nearly 500 more than last year.

The CBSA is also reporting an increase in the number of inadmissible foreign nationals attempting to enter Canada at land border crossings with the U.S. In the first 10 months of this year, agents turned away nearly 34,000 people considered inadmissible, roughly 30 per cent more than the 25,500 identified in the same period in 2023.
The agency also removed more than 14,000 foreign nationals from Canada between New Year’s Day and Halloween this year due to violations of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
The increase in seizures and inadmissible foreign nationals is being met by an increase in CBSA staff. The agency says it will have welcomed over 500 new officer trainees and 18 new detector dog teams by the end of this year.

Doug Ford sports a ‘CANADA IS NOT FOR SALE’ hat amid Trump’s 51st state taunts

Doug Ford is pulling an Uno-reverse card on Donald Trump, firing back on the U.S. president-elect’s threats to turn Canada into the 51st state.

At a press conference Tuesday, Ford sported a reverse of Donald Trump’s now-iconic, glaring red hat, usually embossed with Trump’s infamous catch phrase, “MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN.”

Ford’s version? Tory blue, with a Canadian flag, that read “CANADA IS NOT FOR SALE.”

Every year Canadians sell 1 Billion dollars of American liquor, spirits, wine at the LCBO. Today we saw that American stuff go bye bye off the shelves.
