Worry not.

I was concerned when I read how advanced the Trump acolytes were planning, not just insurrection, but detailed plans of what they want to do ‘when’ Trump wins.

Even quite reasonable voices from pro democrat media are seemingly shocked by Trumps latest tirade against Liz Cheney.

’This is not acceptable language in US political debate’. WTF, this is not acceptable language in any part of humanity. Fuck the political arena horror show. Tell it like it is. Everyone has got used to ignoring the many Trump excesses in political debate, and his supporters routinely excuse such conduct as exaggeration or ‘So what?’ comments!

Even the most staunch MAGA morons should not accept these comments, trying to dehumanize a fellow Republican, because she dared to disagree with him.
Trump has got away with this kind of rhetoric for too long, and his suggestion that Cheney faces a firing squad is a step too far.

Unfortunately the trailer trash that support him are too dumb to realise he's just using them. They love all this shit.

They're living proof that settlers mated with farm animals.

I think Trump's outrageous rhetoric appeals to many Americans. They share his anger against the establishment and the speech police. He's close to beating another establishment woman.

Not at all. I find Trump's candidacy worrying on many levels. But I don't feel the visceral sense of revulsion that many feel about him.

One problem is that he is genuinely funny and entertaining and democracy is essentially a popularity contest and being funny is a way to be popular. Even if it does not translate to effective governance capabilities.

What does not destroy democracy makes it stronger. I think the institutions of American democracy will survive Trump and be strengthened by the stress test he is submitting them to.

I watched the Trump movie tonight. It is quite an interesting portrait of his rise as a media figure, focusing on his relationship with mentor Roy Cohn who is played very effectively by Jeremy String, the eldest of the successors in Succession.

Yes, in some respects Trump is great fun, but not in others. If he was half competent, he'd easily beat Harris. As a president, I see him as totally incompetent. Totally out of his depth. I don't think he's going to be re-elected.

Hitler did effectively destroy/cancel democracy in Germany after he was elected in 1933.

I don't think Trump is Orange Hitler. He is not an ideologically driven thinker. He may be a narcissistic oaf who craves the personal adulation of the trumpanzees to the extent that he is willing to push the boundaries of traditional political etiquette when it comes to transfer of power.

But, it is all about personal ego rather than about ideological belief and so I see it as more of a simple embarrassment to the West than a real danger to Western democracy.

Cringe, Trump has been fellating a microphone. Oh dear, let's hope he doesn't do that again if he's re-elected.
