Former model Stacey Williams is latest woman to accuse Trump of sexual misconduct

Another woman has accused Donald Trump of sexual misconduct, adding to a list of more than a dozen women who have accused the former president of inappropriate sexual behavior.

Stacey Williams, a former Sports Illustrated model, claims Trump groped her in 1993, while Jeffrey Epstein, who was later convicted of sex offenses, looked on. She recounted the incident to CNN this week, as well as on a Zoom call with Survivors for Kamala, a group that’s unaffiliated with the campaign.

“The second he was in front of me, he pulled me into him, and his hands were just on me and didn’t come off,” she told CNN in an interview.

Walz compares Trump’s Madison Square Garden rally to 1939 pro-Nazi event

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, the Democratic vice presidential nominee, compared former President Trump’s Sunday rally at New York’s Madison Square Garden in to a 1939 pro-Nazi event.

“Donald Trump’s got this big rally going at Madison Square Garden,” Walz said at an event in Henderson, Nev. “There’s a direct parallel to a big rally that happened in the mid-1930s at Madison Square Garden.”

An American Nazi Party held a rally at Madison Square Garden in February 1939 that lured 20,000 supporters to the iconic New York City landmark.

“And don’t think that he doesn’t know for one second exactly what they’re doing there,” Walz said.

Democrats think ground game can save Harris, beat Trump

Democrats say they have the secret sauce when it comes to defeating former President Trump: It all comes down to their ground game.

During the final stretch of the campaign, their operation in the seven battleground states will be put to the test, as an army of staff and volunteers are expected to knock on doors, make calls and hold events.

Doubts have crept into the party about Harris’s chances of winning in recent days, but operatives have said their boots on the ground in the battleground states could make the difference.

“So many Democrats I’ve spoken to think the ground operation will be the saving grace, full stop,” one Democratic strategist close to the campaign said. “It’s an operation that’s been built over months, and we’re rooted in communities across all the battlegrounds.”

“What the other side has pales in comparison,” the strategist said.

The Harris campaign touts its robust operation: 2,505 staff and 358 offices across the battleground states, numbers they say far surpass Trump’s operations there.

“Across the battlegrounds, we’re applying an all-of-the-above voter contact strategy, reaching voters on the ground, on the airwaves, on digital and anywhere else voters are,” one Harris campaign aide said. “We know in this fragmented media environment where voters can easily tune political news out, we have to talk to voters as many times and as many ways as we can.”

The Harris aide said they believe their path to victory is in mobilizing significant turnout in not only traditionally blue areas but also cutting into Trump’s margins in rural, traditionally red areas.

About one-third of the campaign’s Pennsylvania offices, for example, are in predominantly rural counties that Trump carried by double-digits during the 2020 presidential race, the aide said.

“In an election this close, closing the margins in these red counties could be the difference maker,” the aide said.

But Republicans say what the Harris campaign is doing is far from effective.

Speaker at Trump rally compares Puerto Rico to ‘island of garbage’

A speaker at former President Trump’s Madison Square Garden rally on Sunday spent a portion of his time attacking Puerto Rico, drawing backlash from Democrats and the Harris campaign.

Comedian Tony Hinchcliffe, who goes by Kill Tony, delivered a set to the crowd ahead of the former president’s speech.

“There’s a lot going on. Like, I don’t know if you know this but there’s literally a floating island of garbage in the middle of the ocean right now. I think it’s called Puerto Rico,” Hinchcliffe said, eliciting mixed reactions from the crowd.

At another point, Hinchcliffe said Latinos “love making babies.”

“They do. There’s no pulling out. They don’t do that. They come inside. Just like they did to our country,” he said.

Trump campaign senior adviser Danielle Alvarez said in a statement that Hinchcliffe’s “joke does not reflect the views of President Trump or the campaign.”

The remarks, particularly about Puerto Rico, were swiftly condemned by Democrats, as well as some Republicans.

    _________

Harris vows to launch Puerto Rico task force

Vice President Harris vowed to launch “a new Puerto Rico Opportunity Economy Task Force” in the case she wins the presidency in a video posted Sunday to Instagram.

“As president, I will bring down the cost of housing, invest in small businesses and entrepreneurs and fight to finally secure equal access to programs that strengthen the health care system and support children, seniors and working people,” Harris said in the video.

“I will create a new Puerto Rico Opportunity Economy Task Force, where the federal government will work with the private sector, with nonprofits and community leaders, to foster economic growth and create thousands of new, good paying jobs in Puerto Rico, including for our young people,” the vice president added.

Puerto Rico has faced hardships including a debt crisis, devastation from Hurricane Maria and problems with its electric grid all within the last decade. The island also lacks voting power in Congress, as well as having no say when it comes to who wins the White House every four years (though Puerto Rico does participate in presidential primaries).

Harris’s video came on the same day as a speaker at a Trump rally went after the Caribbean island and U.S. territory, drawing backlash from her campaign and other Democrats. In his comments at the rally, comedian Tony Hinchcliffe said “I don’t know if you know this but there’s literally a floating island of garbage in the middle of the ocean right now,” adding that he believes “it’s called Puerto Rico.”

    __________

Bad Bunny shares Kamala Harris’s video on Puerto Rico on Instagram

Puerto Rican rapper and superstar Bad Bunny posted a video from Vice President Harris on his Instagram story Sunday.

In the video, Harris talks to Puerto Ricans, saying, “This election is not just a choice between Donald Trump and me — it is a choice between two very different visions for our nation.”

“One, his, focused on the past and on himself, and the other, ours, that is focused on the future and on you,” Harris continues. “Puerto Rico is home to some of the most talented, innovative and ambitious people in our nation, and Puerto Ricans deserve a president who sees and invests in that strength.”

Bad Bunny’s post came on the same day that a speaker at a Trump rally at Madison Square Garden in New York went after Puerto Rico.

“There’s a lot going on. Like, I don’t know if you know this, but there’s literally a floating island of garbage in the middle of the ocean right now. I think it’s called Puerto Rico,” comedian Tony Hinchcliffe said at the rally.

    __________

    Who won the day? Harris

If Donald Trump loses on Nov. 5, the racist carnival he curated at Madison Square Garden could be remembered as the day that cost him this margin-of-error election.

As Kamala Harris visited a Puerto Rican restaurant in Pennsylvania, talking about her “Puerto Rican Opportunity Economy Task Force,” Trump was at Madison Square Garden, where Tony Hinchcliffe, the host of Kill Tony podcast, called the U.S. territory a “floating island of garbage.” It was a split screen the Harris campaign welcomed. Nearly half a million people of Puerto Rican descent live in battleground Pennsylvania, and lots more elsewhere were certainly absorbing the headlines.

    And Harris won the day.

VP Kamala Harris, Gov. Tim Walz & Maggie Rogers | When We Vote We Win Rally in Ann Arbor

Harris makes appeal to workers on Michigan swing ahead of Election Day

Vice President Harris made an appeal to Michigan workers Monday on her three-stop swing across the critical battleground, trying to appease to voters in the “blue wall” state just more than a week out from Election Day.

Harris toured an International Union of Painters and Allied Trades training facility to meet with workers in Macomb County, Mich., in an effort to reach out to the key voting bloc that is considered essential to winning the White House in November.

    ________

Harris to sit for additional interview with Charlamagne tha God

Vice President Harris will sit for another interview with Charlamagne tha God on Tuesday morning. It will be her second interview with the radio host since announcing her campaign back in July.

Harris sat with Charlamagne two weeks ago for a town hall in Detroit.

She faced questions from both the radio host and his audience, though the interview was cut short at the end.

That interview gave Harris the opportunity to speak directly to Black voters, who overwhelmingly support her over former President Trump despite her struggles with young Black men.

Harris touted her history as a prosecutor and her “Opportunity for Black Men” agenda. She spoke of addressing police brutality and responded to allegations that she is “scripted” in all her interviews.

Tuesday’s interview on “The Breakfast Club,” set to air at 7 a.m., comes one week ahead of Election Day.

The race for the White House is incredibly close, and both Harris and Trump are hoping to build Black voter support in the last few days.

    ________

Harris widens lead over Trump to 4 points in national poll

Vice President Harris regained her 4-point lead over former President Trump in a new national survey from ABC News and Ipsos.

Harris leads Trump by 4 points among likely voters nationally, 51 percent to 47 percent, in the survey conducted Oct. 18-22 and released Sunday. Among registered voters, Harris has a narrower lead, 49 percent to 47 percent.

Harris led Trump among likely voters by 4 points early in August, 49 percent to Trump’s 45 percent. She widened her lead to 5 points in the two subsequent surveys — in late August and mid-September — with 51 percent support, compared to Trump’s 46 percent.

Her advantage among likely voters narrowed in the most recent survey, however, when she led Trump by 2 points: 50 percent to 48 percent.

Harris leads Trump by 1 point, 48 percent to 47 percent, among independent voters — a group Biden won by 13 points in 2020, according to ABC News’s exit polls from the election.

Among women who are likely voters, Harris has a 14-point advantage over Trump, 56 percent to 42 percent. Among men who are likely voters, Trump leads by 6 points, 51 percent to 45 percent.

Harris leads Trump by 83 points among Black likely voters, 90 percent to 7 percent; she leads Trump by 30 points among Hispanic likely voters, 64 percent to 34 percent; and Trump leads Harris by 11 points among white voters, 54 percent to 43 percent.

Trump edges out Harris by 1 point in battleground Wisconsin survey

Former President Trump and Vice President Harris are nearly tied in a new survey of likely Wisconsin voters.

The USA Today/Suffolk University poll, released Monday, shows Trump leading Harris by 1 point, 48 to 47 percent, among likely voters in Wisconsin — a key battleground state that could help determine the election.

The survey shows a large gender gap in Wisconsin between the two presidential nominees — a trend seen in many recent surveys across the country. Harris leads Trump 55 percent to 41 percent among likely female voters in Wisconsin, while Trump leads Harris 56 percent to 38 percent among likely male voters.

HarrisÂ’s 14-point edge over Trump among women falls just short of the 17-point advantage she has over Trump in the USA Today/Suffolk University national poll of female voters, 53 percent to 36 percent. Men, meanwhile, favor Trump nationally 53 percent to 37 percent.

Kamala Harris, Tim Walz are joined by singer-songwriter Maggie Rogers in Ann Arbor for rally

    __________

Tim Walz breaks free from his bubble

In the weeks following the vice presidential debate, Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Walz has been sounding more like the aggressive campaigner who got the role than the buttoned-up figure he’s cut since joining the ticket.

Dressed in khakis and a navy Harris-Walz sweatshirt Monday, Walz delivered some of his sharpest attacks yet against former President Donald Trump. Walz appeared more natural in his latest appearances on the trail, including in his signature flannel in rural Pennsylvania, after shedding the blue sport coat and white collared shirt he’s favored for the last few months.

He’s also getting back on the TV circuit, with appearances coming up on "The View" and "The Daily Show," according to a campaign official, after Walz went viral pre-running mate selection with his labeling of the GOP ticket as “weird” in a cable news interview.

“I’m one or two interviews from being a regular on Fox News,” Walz said at a campaign stop in Valencia, Pennsylvania, on Tuesday. The Democrat appeared on “Fox News Sunday” two weekends in a row, and he said at the campaign stop that he returned to speak directly to undecided voters watching the channel.

Harris calls on Michigan to vote early, hoping for a boost in the critical battleground state

Vice President Harris on Monday courted voters in Michigan, urging them to vote early in hopes of a boost just over a week before Election Day in the critical battleground state.

“We need you to vote early Michigan because we have just eight days to go, eight days left in one of the most consequential elections of our lifetime and as everybody here knows, this is going to be a tight race until the very end. So, we have a lot of work ahead of us, but we like hard work,” she said at a rally in Ann Arbor. “Make no mistake, we will win.”

“Now is the time to get out the vote Michigan,” she later said as a sea of attendees holding blue and yellow “vote” signs chanted behind her.

Harris spent the day in Michigan on Monday, traveling around the state to meet with union workers before she held her rally.

Closing Argument Speech from Vice President Kamala Harris

    Early voting tops 50M

More than 51 million voters have already cast their ballots, according to a tracker from the University of Florida, with just a week to go until Election Day.

Over 24 million mail ballots have been returned, and nearly 27 million early votes have been cast in-person as of around 4 p.m. Eastern on Tuesday, the UF Election LabÂ’s data showed.

The latest totals are nearly a third of the 2020 vote count, when more than 154 million Americans turned out to cast their ballots, according to the U.S. Census, as the country grappled with the COVID-19 pandemic, which pushed many to opt for mail-in voting. At roughly 66 percent turnout, the 2020 presidential cycle marked the highest rate for any national election since 1900, according to Pew Research.

While early votes arenÂ’t a strong predictor of the general election results, they can give insights into who is turning out in a tight race.

Democrats have a slight edge in early ballots, casting 39.5 percent of votes so far, per the UF Election Lab. Harris’s campaign has been pushing the party to vote early this cycle, given that key demographics — like young people energized by her fast-tracked bid — are seen as potentially unreliable Election Day voters.

Republicans make up 36.1 percent of the ballots cast so far, and minor party or unaffiliated voters make up a combined 24.4 percent. Trump and Republicans have been skeptical about early voting in the past, but the party has moved to be less hostile toward the process this cycle.

    Harris tops Trump
by 5 points in Michigan: Poll

Vice President Harris is leading former President Trump in battleground Michigan by 5 points, a new survey found.

The poll from Susquehanna University Polling and Research shows Harris garnering 51.7 percent support to TrumpÂ’s 46.6 percent in the critical swing state. About half a percent of respondents, 0.5 percent, said they are still undecided, and even less, 0.4 percent, say they will choose someone other than the party nominees.

Most people who were surveyed said they have “excellent” chances of voting in the upcoming election. Voters tend to say their top issues are inflation and the economy, illegal immigration and protecting democracy, the survey found.

    __________

The Memo: Trump campaign struggles to contain Puerto Rico October surprise

he Trump campaign is struggling to contain an October surprise of its own making, just one week from Election Day.

A racist remark by comedian Tony Hinchcliffe, one of many warm-up speakers for former President Trump at a Sunday rally in New YorkÂ’s Madison Square Garden, is reverberating hard.

Vice President Harris and other Democrats are working to make sure the gibe reaches the ears of as many Latino voters as possible — especially in the swing states that will decide the election.

Republicans, including Trump’s running mate, Sen. JD Vance (Ohio), are trying to minimize the damage — either by distancing themselves from what Hinchcliffe said or by suggesting that a remark made in jest should not spark such outrage.

At the rally, Hinchcliffe referred to Puerto Rico as a “floating island of garbage.” He also used other racist tropes including a reference to Black people and watermelons, and a crude reference linking procreation and immigration.

The comments were slammed as offensive in their own right. But they could also have serious electoral repercussions.

More than 400,000 people born in Puerto Rico or of Puerto Rican descent live in Pennsylvania, the largest of the seven battleground states. The state is essentially deadlocked, with Trump leading Harris by just four-tenths of a percentage point in the polling average maintained by The Hill/Decision Desk HQ.

    __________

Jennifer Lopez to give star-studded boost to Harris campaign rally in Las Vegas

Jennifer Lopez is getting loud for Vice President Harris’s White House bid, appearing at a campaign rally in battleground state Nevada this week.

The singer and “Unstoppable” star will speak at the Las Vegas “When We Vote We Win” event on Thursday, the Harris campaign announced Tuesday. Mexican music group Maná will also perform.

The 55-year-old singer is expected to deliver remarks focused on “the importance of voting, what’s at stake for the country with this election and why she is endorsing” Harris, the campaign said. The pre-Election Day rally is timed to take place on the last day of early voting in the Silver State.

Lopez, whose parents are Puerto Rican, performed at President Biden’s inauguration in 2021, reciting part of the Pledge of Allegiance in Spanish.

Earlier this week, she voiced support for Harris’s campaign to her 250 million Instagram followers after comedian Tony Hinchcliffe made inflammatory jokes about Puerto Rico at a New York City rally for former President Trump, comparing the U.S. territory to a “floating island of garbage.”

Lopez is the latest in a superstar-filled push for Harris in the final days of the presidential race. In recent days, several famous names have hit the campaign trail for the vice president, including Beyoncé, Bruce Springsteen, Spike Lee and others.

Harris holds 12-point leadin key Nebraska congressional district: Poll

Vice President Harris continues to hold on to Nebraska’s “blue dot” Omaha presidential electoral voting bloc, according to the latest polling in the district.

A new poll from The New York Times and Siena College has found that Harris leads former President Trump with 54 percent support to his 42 percent in the reliably Republican state’s only Democratic district.

Nebraska is one of few states that doesn’t take a winner-take-all approach to its electoral votes. Two of the state’s five electors go to the winner statewide, and each congressional district gets to decide one electoral vote individually.

Local media outlets reported last month that an increasing number of the “blue dot” signs — signs that are white with simply a blue circle in the middle — were popping up to highlight the district’s unique swing status in the state.

Harris supporters in the Omaha-based district have spent recent months putting out “blue dot” signs, signaling that they would be resisting the rural state’s overall vote in favor of Trump and at least give one potentially critical electoral vote to the Democratic nominee.

The so-called swing district went to Democrats during the 2020 presidential election.

Blue Dot Nebraska, a nonprofit group, offers the simple yard signs for free with a suggested $10 donation.

    ___________

Democrats alarmed Harris’s economic message isn’t breaking through

Democrats are frustrated Vice President Harris hasn’t done more to sell her economic message and worry former President Trump continues to have a sizable advantage on what many voters say is their No. 1 issue.

Harris has focused on attacking Trump in recent weeks. But she has lost ground to him in the polls, as voters say they are less likely to be motivated by additional criticisms of Trump, whose flaws are well-known after standing in the national spotlight for more than eight years.

The Harris campaign says it will put more focus on the economy in the final week of the campaign, but abortion-rights and criticisms of Trump’s character get more applause at Harris’s rallies with stars such as Michelle Obama, Bruce Springsteen and Maggie Rogers.

Some Democratic strategists view Harris’s scathing criticisms of Trump as necessary and effective, but they acknowledge she could be doing a better job of talking about the economy — a challenge that also vexed President Biden before he dropped his bid for reelection.

“Where I don’t think she’s done a good enough job is, [Trump] gets away with saying, ‘The economy is the worst it’s ever been, there’s more unemployment, inflation is the highest it’s ever been.’ None of that is true,” said Steve Jarding, a Democratic strategist.

    __________

Bad Bunny releases video love letter to Puerto Rico after Trump rally slam

Puerto Rican singer Bad Bunny is highlighting his love for his home island Tuesday, following the fracas over a comedy set at former President Trump’s Madison Square Garden rally Sunday that equated Puerto Rico to a garbage patch.

Bad Bunny posted a Spanish-language video on Instagram that he’d previously used in his “P FKN R” concert in San Juan’s Hiram Bithorn Stadium in 2021, which had since remained unpublished.

The video is a tribute to Puerto Rico and Puerto Ricans featuring a host of top stars from all walks of life — from entertainment to politics to sports — with a connection to the island.

“This is the chronicle of a star that jumped from the depths of a great volcano at the bottom of the sea to another galaxy,” it says.

It’s the second time a Bad Bunny post has jumped on the national political stage this week, after he included a post by Vice President Harris on his Instagram story.

Bad Bunny’s political presence is a rarity at a national level — the musical superstar has generally been more active on local issues.

Inside the climate movement’s final push for Harris

Advocates from multiple climate and environmental advocacy groups will make calls, unleash advertisements, knock on doors and utilize star power in support of Vice President Harris in the final stretch of the 2024 campaign, underscoring how critical they consider the White House race to be for the future of their cause.

“We know that so much is on the line for climate,” activist Saad Amer told The Hill ahead of a strategy session with movement leaders Monday. “I am feeling like we can totally do this.”

Climate activists see this election as having dire consequences for the planet, marking a starkly contrasting choice between Harris, who they believe could implement significant policies to mitigate climate change, and former President Trump, who has repeatedly minimized the issue and pledged to repeal a number of measures aimed at combating it.

The Biden administration has taken historic climate actions, including through the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act, which included billions of dollars for low-carbon energy sources. However, some climate advocates have said President Biden and Harris haven’t gone far enough to address the issue. Many of these progressive voters have also expressed disappointment on other issues, including the administration’s handling of the war in Gaza.

Harris’s campaign, meanwhile, has toed a fine line on climate change, noting its commitment to combating the global crisis while also distancing itself from more progressive stances such as her previous support for a fracking ban when she ran in the Democratic primary last cycle.

Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.), a member of the progressive caucus and a surrogate for the Harris campaign, spoke during Monday’s strategy session about how to appeal to voters who may feel Harris falls short on climate.

Saying he has been in Dearborn, Mich., trying to make a case to voters who don’t think the vice president’s policy on the Middle East is good enough, he said a similar case can be made to climate voters.

“If Donald Trump wins, none of us are going to be at the table. None of us are going to have any voice at all on Middle East policy or on climate policy,” Khanna said. “With the vice president, we’re going to be in the room, and that is the fundamental difference for people who have views that go beyond where the vice president is.”

Khanna has said he’s been visiting college campuses, and will continue to do so in places such as Georgia, which, like Michigan, is among the group of tightly contested swing states that could determine the outcome of the election.

Other movement leaders also detailed their planned efforts in the days ahead.

Amer said he was invited to speak during a Billie Eilish concert in Atlanta. The 22-year-old pop star is particularly popular with young people.

“She’s putting together this whole effort around climate at her concert where she brings tens of thousands of people,” Amer said.

A group called Climate Power is also utilizing celebrities. The group’s “Too Hot Not to Vote” campaign has already featured stars including Bill Nye, and this week is working with college athletes in Michigan and Pennsylvania, said Heather Hargreaves, Climate Power’s deputy executive director for campaigns.

Hargreaves said the group is trying to get the athletes to post videos about turning out to vote and why climate change matters.

“We’re really excited about that as a tactic to make sure … we’re reaching people on their phones, which is where we know everybody is,” she said.

Meanwhile, David Kieve, president of Environmental Defense Fund Action, said his group has spent $6 million, including $3 million this coming week, on Spanish-language ads, saying the organization hopes to sway undecided Latino voters.

In a press release Tuesday, the progressive Sunrise Movement said that so far it has reached more than 1.9 million young voters in swing states and will continue phone and text banks and in-person canvassing in Arizona, North Carolina, Michigan and Pennsylvania.

Climate change has been a driving issue for young and progressive voters, and advocates agreed it can be a motivating factor to drive supporters in the final stretch of the election.

Khanna said Monday that turnout and enthusiasm need to improve, however.

“We can win with the current turnout, but it’s not where it was in 2020,” he said. “We’ve got to figure out how we ignite that passion to get the turnout in the next week up where it needs to be.”

“Our numbers are good, but they’re not quite at 2020 levels. If we hit 2020 levels, we win, so that’s why this kind of call to action … to reach voters where they’re at is key,” Khanna later told reporters.

Harris campaign feels ‘really good’ about early voting numbers, adviser says

Vice President Harris’s campaign feels “really good” about early voting numbers, a campaign senior advisor said, despite Republicans having submitted more ballots so far in some swing states.

“We’re seeing a lot of Republicans voting early this time that didn’t vote early four years ago,” said Ian Sams, Harris’s campaign senior adviser, during his Tuesday appearance on NewsNation’s “The Hill.”

“Four years ago, Donald Trump was running around trashing early voting and saying, ‘Don’t do it. It’s corrupt. It was a lie.’ But that’s [not] what he was saying this time,” he added. “He’s actually encouraging his voters to go vote early. And so what we’re actually seeing in the data is that these are a lot of Donald Trump’s own 2020 Election Day voters who are just casting their ballot early.”

Even with GOP voters having cast more ballots in battleground states of Arizona, Nevada and North Carolina, Sams argued the Democratic nominee’s campaign is fine with the current numbers and added that they have surpassed surpassed its “internal metric” from two years ago.

“We feel really good about the numbers that we’re seeing in our own early vote push,” Sams said. “We’re exceeding our own internal metrics from 2022, and we’re excited about bringing us home next week.”

More than 53 million voters across the country have cast their ballots this with less than a week before Election Day, according to the University of FloridaÂ’s tracker. More than 25 million ballots have been returned, while more than 27 million were cast in person.

Harris has 6-point lead in Wisconsin, 5-point lead in Michigan in newCNN polls

New polls for CNN find Vice President Harris with a 6-point lead over former President Trump in Wisconsin and a 5-point lead in Michigan.

The polls, conducted by SSRS, found Harris leading Trump in Wisconsin with 51 percent support to his 45 percent among likely voters. In Michigan, she led with 48 percent support to 43 percent.

The showings are better than Harris has managed in other recent polls of the two critical swing states.

In Pennsylvania, one of the “blue wall” states for Democrats, the two candidates are tied at 48 percent support among likely voters, the CNN poll found.

While the percentages from the poll in Michigan did not reveal an increase from a previous survey taken in August, support did increase by 1 percentage point for each candidate in Pennsylvania, going from 47 percent to 48 percent each. In Wisconsin, support for both Harris and Trump increased by 1 point since August, the poll found.

When asked if their choice was more a vote for Harris or more a vote against Trump, 59 percent of likely voters in Michigan said it was for Harris, compared to 40 percent who said it was against Trump, the survey showed.

In Pennsylvania, 58 percent of respondents said their vote was more based on support for Harris compared to 42 percent who said it was more a vote against Trump. In Wisconsin, 62 percent said their vote was for Harris, while 37 percent said it was against Trump, the poll found.

Reggaeton star Nicky Jam withdraws Trump endorsement over Puerto Rico joke

Reggaeton star Nicky Jam walked back his previous endorsement of former President Trump Wednesday in the wake of fallout over a poorly received joke at TrumpÂ’s Madison Square Garden rally on Sunday.

In an Instagram post in Spanish, the singer born Nick Rivera Caminero explained he had endorsed Trump for his economic proposals, with “[Trump] being a businessman, I thought it was the best move.”

“Never in my life did I think that a month later a comedian would come to criticize my country, to speak poorly of my country, and therefore I renounce any support to Donald Trump and move aside from any political situation. Puerto Rico se respeta, Nicky Jam,” he said.

The Trump campaign has spent the past three days trying to contain damage following comedian Tony HinchcliffeÂ’s joke at the rally, where he equated Puerto Rico to floating garbage.

    Harris addresses Biden’s ‘garbage’ comments

Vice President Harris on Wednesday distanced herself from President Biden’s comments a day earlier in which he appeared to refer to former President Trump’s supporters as “garbage.”

“First of all, he clarified his comments, but let me be clear: I strongly disagree with any criticism of people based on who they vote for,” Harris told reporters as she departed for a three-state campaign swing.

“You heard my speech last night and continuously throughout my career. I believe that the work I do is about representing all the people, whether they support me or not,” Harris added. “And as president of the United States, I will be a president for all Americans whether you vote for me or not.”

Harris said she spoke with Biden on Tuesday night, but his comments did not come up.

Puerto Rico’s biggest newspaper endorses Harris

The paper’s editor called Trump “cowardly” and “narcissistic.”

El Nuevo Día, Puerto Rico’s biggest newspaper, endorsed Kamala Harris on Tuesday following backlash to a comedian who disparaged Puerto Rico at Donald Trump’s rally in New York Sunday.

“The hearts of all of us who love this beautiful Garden of America, and of the world, clench with rage and pain. Puerto Ricans are a noble and peaceful people, who deeply love their island,” the paper’s editor, María Luisa Ferré Rangel, wrote.

Arnold Schwarzenegger endorses Kamala Harris: ‘I will always be an American before I am a Republican’

The former Republican governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger has announced that he is backing Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris in next week’s election.

In a long post on X, Schwarzenegger, 77, said that while he doesn’t “really do endorsements” … “hate[s] politics” and doesn’t “trust most politicians”, he felt compelled to formally endorse Harris and her pick for vice president Tim Walz.

I don’t really do endorsements. I’m not shy about sharing my views, but I hate politics and don’t trust most politicians.

I also understand that people want to hear from me because I am not just a celebrity, I am a former Republican Governor.

My time as Governor taught me to…

    — Arnold (@Schwarzenegger) October 30, 2024

“I will always be an American before I am a Republican,” he wrote. “That’s why, this week, I am voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz. I’m sharing it with all of you because I think there are a lot of you who feel like I do. You don’t recognise our country. And you are right to be furious.”

Judge Luttig: Trump not fit to be president again

Retired federal Judge J. Michael Luttig said former President Trump is not fit to return to the presidency, writing in an op-ed piece for The New York Times published Tuesday that he no longer recognizes the Republican Party.

“We Americans live in faith with our Constitution and with the past generations of Americans who swore to protect it and fought to defend it,” wrote the conservative jurist, who has frequently criticized Trump in the past.

“One week from today, we will decide whether Donald Trump is fit to be president of the United States again. He is not.”

“When we entrusted our Constitution and our democracy to him before, he betrayed us,” wrote Luttig, who previously endorsed Vice President Harris for the White House.

“Campaigning for the presidency again, he now promises to exact vengeance against his fellow Americans whom he deems ‘the enemy from within,’ those who have dared to challenge his betrayal, an enemies list that includes Republicans and Democrats alike,” he continued.

Harris campaign to advertise on Las Vegas Sphere, a political first: Report

Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign will advertise on the Las Vegas Sphere, becoming the first political campaign to do so, Nexstar’s KLAS has learned.

The advertisements will coincide with Harris’ visit to Las Vegas on Thursday. The campaign hopes the imagery will reach millions of voters in Nevada and online, a spokesperson said.

A video of the 90-second advertisement shared with KLAS includes Harris’ signature campaign phrase: “When we vote, we win.”

Earlier this month, Harris told radio talk show host Howard Stern that she snuck away from the campaign trail and attended a U2 concert while campaigning in Las Vegas earlier this year.

“Oh my god, have you been to the Sphere?” Harris asked Stern. “It’s extraordinary. You’re sitting there and it’s almost like Disneyland or Disney World where things just start to change around you and you feel like you lose sense of gravity. It’s really phenomenal.”

Sphere Las Vegas’ exosphere is the largest screen in the world. The concert venue began displaying its exterior imagery in July 2023.

Trump takes 1-point lead over Harris in Pennsylvania survey

Former President Trump is ahead of Vice President Harris by 1 point in Pennsylvania in a new survey from Quinnipiac University.

The survey found Trump garnering 47 percent support from likely voters to Harris’s 46 percent support. Two percent said they were backing the Green Party’s Jill Stein, and 1 percent said they were backing the Libertarian Party’s Chase Oliver.

Harris lead narrows to 1 point over Trump in national poll

Vice President Harris has a razor-thin lead over former President Trump nationally, according to a new poll.

The Reuters/Ipsos survey, released Tuesday, shows Harris with 44 percent support compared to Trump’s 43 percent. Her lead has “steadily shrunk” since last month, pollsters wrote, pointing to a separate survey from earlier this month that showed her up by 2 points.

The Hill/Decision Desk HQ’s polling average also shows a downturn for the Democratic nominee. With less than a week until Election Day, Harris is leading Trump by less than 1 point — 48.6 percent to 47.9 percent.

Survey respondents pointed to the economy and jobs as the top priority heading into the election, with 26 percent saying as much. Trump brought in 47 percent support compared to Harris’s 37 percent when voters were asked who could best handle the issue.

Supreme Court docket heats up with election disputes

The Supreme Court is increasingly being pulled into the upcoming presidential contest.

With a week to go until Election Day, the justices this week are dealing with four election-related applications on their emergency docket.

On Tuesday, the court denied two requests from former Independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to be taken off the ballot in the key swing states of Michigan and Wisconsin.

Still pending is the Republican National Committee’s (RNC) challenge to who can cast provisional ballots in Pennsylvania, with potentially thousands of votes hanging in the balance. Meanwhile, Republican officials in Virginia are asking to remove more than 1,600 people from the voter rolls over accusations they are noncitizens.

The disputes are just some of the dozens of legal battles playing out in courts across the country surrounding this year’s presidential contest. Some of those cases, as well as new ones filed after Election Day, could ultimately reach the Supreme Court.

“I think there are legal issues that arise out of the political process. And so, the Supreme Court has to be prepared to respond, if — if that should be necessary,” Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson noted during an August interview with CBS.

Jackson is the only sitting justice who was not on the court when it rejected challenges to the 2020 election results, when former President Trump baselessly contested his loss to President Biden.

Half of Gen Z voters say they’ve lied about their votes: Survey

Half of Generation Z’s voters said they have lied about their votes, according to a new Axios Vibes survey by The Harris Poll.

Among the Gen Z voters in the survey, 48 percent said they had previously “lied to” those with whom they are close about which candidates received their votes, more than double the 23 percent of registered voters across all age groups that said they had previously done the same.

The survey took place Oct. 22-24, only a few weeks out from Election Day, which will follow a chaotic and heavily polarized campaign season. The 2024 general election brings with it multiple key Senate and House races, as well as a heated competition for the presidency between former President Trump and Vice President Harris.

In the Axios and Harris survey, 22 percent of the registered voters said they might lie “to someone close” about the candidates they cast their ballot for in the 2024 election, while 78 percent said they wouldn’t.

Trump wants you to believe that the US economy is doing terribly. It’s untrue

If Donald Trump wins next week’s election, it would be the first time in US history that a candidate wins based on such a huge lie – his falsehood that we have “the worst economy ever”. The former president’s big lie has distorted the views of millions of Americans, wrongly convincing many that the US economy is in bad shape.

There’s no denying that many Americans are struggling economically and that inflation was painfully high back in 2022, but inflation is far lower now, and most economists agree that our economy is strong. The unemployment rate is low, inflation is way down, economic growth is solid, and job growth has been remarkably strong. Indeed, the country has added nearly 18m jobs – a record – under the Biden-Harris administration. Not only that, median household income has climbed to $80,610, higher than it was in Trump’s last year in office.

“In the 35 years I’ve been an economist, I’ve rarely seen an economy performing as well as it is,” Mark Zandi, chief economist of Moody’s Analytics, said recently. “I’d give it an A+.” But the US public, still upset about the surge in inflation several years ago, sees things very differently: 62% say the economy is in bad shape, while just 38% say it’s in good shape, according to an October AP-NORC poll.

The public holds this negative view even though there’s been very good news for blue-collar workers: the US has added more than 700,000 factory jobs under the Biden-Harris administration, far more than during Trump’s presidency, indeed more than under any president since the 1970s. There’s also been good news for small businesses – a record 19m new business applications have been filed under Biden. There’s also good news for the wealthy – the stock market has climbed to record levels, which is Wall Street’s way of saying the economy is in excellent shape. Let’s not forget that Trump warned that if Biden was elected president, the stock market would crash. Wrong again, Donald. Under Biden, the Dow Jones Industrial Average is 36% higher than when Trump left office, and the S&P 500 is 53% higher.

Trump’s repeated claim that today’s economy is the worst ever shows either an appalling ignorance of history or an appalling contempt for the truth. The truth is that the economy was in far worse shape during Trump’s last year in office, when the unemployment rate soared to 14.8% during the pandemic, compared with 4.1% now. Moreover, there were many other times when the economy was in worse shape – it was worse during the 2008 recession under George W Bush, far worse during the 1980-81 and 1974-75 recessions, and catastrophically worse during the Great Depression of the 1930s. When Trump tells his Maga crowds that today’s economy is the worst ever, he’s taking everyone for an idiot.

The US economy has grown the fastest among major industrial nations since the pandemic began. Our economy has grown twice as fast as Canada’s, three times as fast as France’s and Japan’s, and four times as fast as Britain’s. Under Biden, the average unemployment rate has been lower than under any president since Lyndon Johnson.

If Harris loses to Trump, historians and economists will long debate why she lost while Ronald Reagan was re-elected in a landslide in 1984 even though unemployment was far higher back then (7.2% versus 4.1% today), inflation was higher (4% versus 2.4% today), and the Federal Reserve’s interest rates were far higher (10% versus 5% today). One thing working for Reagan was that GDP growth was strong in 1984.

I don’t think that we are going to see a President Harris.

The bookmakers worldwide have Trump as an odds on favourite to win.

Harris leads Trump in Michigan, Pennsylvania; trails in North Carolina: Surveys

Vice President Harris leads former President Trump in the battleground states of Michigan and Pennsylvania while she trails him in North Carolina, according to a new set of surveys released Thursday.

In the new polls, from UMass Lowell Center for Public Opinion and YouGov, Harris is ahead of Trump by 4 points, 49 percent to 45 percent, among MichiganÂ’s likely voters. Her gap is smaller in Pennsylvania where she is outpacing the former president by 1 point, 48 percent to 47 percent, with the stateÂ’s likely voters. Trump, on the other hand, is doing better in North Carolina, leading the Democratic nominee by 2 points, 47 percent to 45 percent, according to the survey. All leads were within the pollsÂ’ margin of error.

    Historians for Harris

As American historians, we are deeply alarmed by the impending election. Since 1789, the nation has prospered under a Constitution dedicated to securing the general welfare, under a national government bound by the rule of law in which no one interest or person holds absolute power. In 1860, an elite interest dedicated to human slavery attempted to shatter the Union rather than accede to the constitutional rule of law by accepting the outcome of the election, plunging the nation into Civil War.

Today, Donald Trump, openly hostile to democracy and to American constitutional customs, seeks to return to office as president. He has flagrantly defied the rule of law. He repeatedly sought to thwart the result of the free and fair election of 2020. His performance has persuaded many of those who worked most closely with him that he is an authoritarian. Now a convicted felon, he has stated his intention to use his power to intimidate, prosecute and imprison his political critics and opponents, whom he designates as “the enemy within.” Given the free hand that he would enjoy today by the Supreme Court’s presidential immunity decision, we take his threats with utmost seriousness as a clear and present danger to American democracy.

Kamala Harris has dedicated her life to affirming the rule of law and democracy. As a prosecutor and California attorney-general, she pursued justice without fear or favor. As U.S. Senator, she confronted those who would aid and abet the malign use of authority. As Vice President, she has worked to find solutions to urgent problems, domestic and foreign. As a presidential candidate, she has called out her opponent as a disgrace to his oath as president to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution.

We believe, based on our study of the past, that the nation stands at an unprecedented historical as well as a political crossroads. On the outcome of this election, no less than the election of 1860, hangs the fate of both the spirit and the letter of the Constitution. We appeal to our fellow citizens, whether conservative, independent, or liberal, regardless of party affiliation, to vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz. We make this call not as partisans but as historians who believe in the pursuit of a more perfect Union—and we urge all Americans to join us.

Julia Roberts Reminds Us - Your Vote, Your Choice

Conservatives in furor over Julia Roberts ad

A new Harris-Walz campaign ad voiced by actor Julia Roberts encourages women to vote for Vice President Harris in the presidential election, even if their husbands are backing former President Trump.

The Roberts ad, put out by Vote Common Good, also alludes to abortion rights, which is seen as a pivotal issue in a race that has seen Trump with big polling leads among male voters and Harris with a large lead among female voters.

“In the one place in America where women still have a right to choose, you can vote any way you want. And no one will ever know,” Roberts says in the ad as a woman on screen meets up with her husband after casting her ballot for Harris.

The voter winks at a fellow female voter as her husband asks if she made the “right choice.”

Republicans have responded to the video with outrage, with some claiming that a wife lying about her vote is as bad as an affair.

“If I found out Emma was going to the voting booth and pulling the lever for Harris, that’s the same thing as having an affair,” Fox News host Jesse Watters said on air Wednesday in a clip highlighted by Mediaite.

Money from oil execs flows to Trump

The executives made significant contributions supporting former President TrumpÂ’s campaign after the GOP nominee asked the industry for $1 billion to support his reelection bid.

Trump reportedly said at an April fundraiser that the $1 billion request would be a “deal” for energy executives, while a source told The Hill earlier this year it was not framed as any sort of quid pro quo.

Still, Democrats have described the incident as corruption and have vowed to investigate it.

Two executives who reportedly attended Trump oil industry fundraisers this spring later made significant contributions to Trump-aligned political committees — something they hadn’t done in previous presidential cycles.

Cheniere Energy CEO Jack Fusco donated $250,000 to the joint fundraising Trump 47 Committee in June, according to records from the Federal Election Commission (FEC). The committee then distributed $6,600 to the Trump campaign and $243,400 to the Republican National Committee (RNC).

In July, Occidental President and CEO Vicki Hollub appears to have donated $41,300 to the RNC through the Trump 47 Committee, according to the contribution memo, and another $41,300 to the RNC on the same day. Campaign finance records show she gave $6,600 to the Trump campaign and $5,000 to Save America, TrumpÂ’s leadership PAC, through Trump 47.

The Washington Post reported that Fusco attended a dinner where Trump told energy executives they should raise $1 billion to support his return to the presidency and that doing so would be a “deal” because of the money they would save on taxes and regulations. Occidental was also represented at that dinner, per the report.

Separately, the Post reported that at a different fundraiser in May, Trump promised oil and gas executives including Hollub that he would make sure they were treated better by the Federal Trade Commission.

    ___________

The Sun endorses Kamala Harris and Tim Walz to lead the nation

The upcoming presidential election presents a pivotal moment for the United States, offering a choice between preserving democracy or sliding into autocracy.

The Republican Party has nominated a womanizing narcissist and aspiring dictator as its candidate. He and his supporters believe in trampling on the rights of women, providing greater protections to guns than schoolchildren, silencing the history and existence of people of color and LGBTQ+ people, forcing working class families and seniors to choose between food and medicine and ceaselessly attacking the immigrants who dream of a better life.

The Democratic Party, on the other hand, has nominated a leader who will fight to preserve the rights and institutions that have made the United States the envy of the world while championing the promise of the American dream. She believes in fighting for the rights of women to choose what happens to their body, protecting children from criminals armed with weapons of war, preserving Social Security and health care programs that Americans have paid into their entire lives, giving a helping hand to those in need and creating pathways to citizenship for immigrants who contribute to our economy and our communities.

Kamala Harris represents a bridge between the measured approach of Joe Biden and the hunger for change that drove millions to support Donald Trump. While we understand the belief held by many Americans that they are being left behind, Trump is not the answer. His disregard for democratic institutions, tarnishing of the judiciary and inability to conceive of a government that serves anyone or anything beyond his personal interests are the hallmarks of an aspiring dictator. Harris, on the other hand, offers the stability and confidence of a veteran public servant and the bold vision, energy and adaptability that is needed in a rapidly evolving world.

Michael Bloomberg Endorses Kamala Harris For President

Former New York City mayor and billionaire entrepreneur Michael Bloomberg has publicly endorsed Senator Kamala Harris for president in the upcoming election. In an Op-Ed published on Thursday, Bloomberg expressed his support for Harris while also criticizing President Donald Trump.

Bloomberg highlighted that while he may not agree with Harris on every issue, he voted for her without hesitation based on his assessment of policy positions and personal integrity. He emphasized the stark contrast between the two candidates, praising Harris for her campaign policies and positive vision for the country.

In his critique of Trump, Bloomberg condemned the president's rhetoric towards immigrants, likening it to language used by Nazis. He also criticized Trump's handling of White supremacists and his divisive messaging about the future of America.

Despite not having a close personal relationship with Harris, Bloomberg commended her for her inclusive campaign approach, reaching out to voters across party lines. It was revealed that Bloomberg had donated $50 million to entities supporting Harris, underscoring his commitment to her candidacy.

Harris steps up Latino outreach amid Trump rally fallout

Vice President Harris is stepping up her outreach to Latino voters in the final days of the election as former President Trump grapples with the fallout from his Madison Square Garden rally.

Harris renewed her pitch to those voters in an interview on Spanish-language radio earlier this week, and her campaign was quick to release a new ad highlighting the offensive remarks made at the rally, in which a comedian mocked Latinos and Puerto Rico.

The furor over Trump’s rally has given Harris a fresh opportunity to reach a voting bloc she has somewhat struggled with over the past several months, and observers think it could be a tipping point for more Latino voters to support her.

“Ironically, Donald Trump did what the Harris campaign wasn’t able to do, which is move his support levels with Latinos down,” said Mike Madrid, a leading Latino GOP political consultant. “I certainly wouldn’t mess with that if I were the Harris campaign. You want to amplify that, play into that, lean into that as a closing message, as a reminder of sort of who he is and why he was fired in the first place, and what he would mean to the community going forward.”

How would the economy look under Trump? Elon Musk predicts hardship from planned spending cuts

In the home stretch of the 2024 election, voters who’ve been weighing both campaigns’ proposals to tackle living costs are now hearing a new pitch from the Republican side: accept some short-term economic pain to rein in government spending.

That message has emerged from former President Donald Trump’s wealthiest backer, Elon Musk, who says that the GOP nominee’s plans to put the U.S. on firmer fiscal footing would likely entail “temporary hardship” for ordinary Americans.

At a virtual town hall event Friday held on Musk’s social media platform, X, the multibillionaire Tesla and SpaceX executive said he was “praying for a victory” for Trump, so he could begin working in a high-level Cabinet role to axe federal spending.

“We have to reduce spending to live within our means,” Musk said. “And, you know, that necessarily involves some temporary hardship, but it will ensure long-term prosperity.”

Many economists agree that Trump’s economic and fiscal proposals could spark an economic calamity, though it is not clear whether they have considered, or given credence, to Musk’s calls for austerity.

Trump, Harris separated by 1 point in Georgia, North Carolina: Polls

Former President Trump and Vice President Harris are separated by only 1 point in the battleground states of Georgia and North Carolina, according to polling released Thursday.

The surveys from CNN, which were conducted by SSRS, found that Trump leads Harris by 1 point — with 48 percent support to her 47 percent — among likely voters in Georgia, while Harris sports the same margin among North Carolina’s likely voters, with 48 percent support to 47 percent.

Both leads are within the margin of error, meaning the candidates are statistically tied. Little has changed since CNN’s polls of both states came out in the past two months.

Gov. Tim Walz Releases Halloween Video With Blue Wall Governors

Gov. Tim Walz Releases Halloween Video With Minnesota Governor Tim Walz recently made headlines by releasing a Halloween-themed video featuring himself alongside Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer and Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers. In the video, the governors engage in a light-hearted Q&A session, discussing topics such as candy corn and pumpkin carving.

One amusing moment in the video shows Governor Whitmer asking Governor Walz about his stance on candy corn, to which he responds positively, stating, 'I’m for it.' The governors also touch on the topic of pumpkin carving, with Whitmer questioning Walz about his preference for carving pumpkins early or on the day of Halloween. Walz humorously replies that he prefers to carve pumpkins early to enjoy them longer, drawing a parallel to voting early.

Trump says Liz Cheney might not be such a ‘war hawk’ if she had guns pointed at her

Trump called Cheney “a deranged person,” then added: “But the reason she couldn’t stand me is that she always wanted to go to war with people. If it were up to her we’d be in 50 different countries.”

After calling Cheney “a very dumb individual,” he said: “She’s a radical war hawk. Let’s put her with the rifle standing there with nine barrels shooting at her. OK, let’s see how she feels about it. You know, when the guns are trained on her face.

“You know they’re all war hawks when they’re sitting in Washington in a nice building saying, oh gee, well let’s send 10,000 troops right into the mouth of the enemy,” Trump said.

After Harris’ campaign and other Trump critics on social media pounced on the quote, Trump’s campaign responded that he “was talking about how Liz Cheney wants to send America’s sons and daughters to fight in wars despite never being in a war herself.”

VP Kamala Harris in Milwaukee, WI | When We Vote We Win Rally | Harris-Walz 2024

    _________

Harris has slight leads in blue wall states: Marist polls

Vice President Harris has a slight lead in each of the key “blue wall” states that could be critical to her path to the presidency, a new poll found.

The Marist Poll released Friday showed Harris leading former President Trump by 3 points in Michigan and 2 points in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. The results are a slight improvement for Harris in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin and slight decline for her in Michigan, compared to MaristÂ’s poll in September, but she maintained her advantage across the board.

Still, all of these results are within the margin of error.

The three blue wall states may be HarrisÂ’s simplest path to winning the White House, as they have played a key role in both of the past two elections in 2016 and 2020. She is polling better there than the Sun Belt states and would likely win the election if she takes all three next week.

In her strongest state, Michigan, Harris leads Trump with 51 percent to 48 percent. Her lead was at 5 points in September.

But she improved her margin among independents from 2 points to 6 points, the same margin that President Biden carried Michigan independents by in 2020.

Harris leads in Pennsylvania with 50 percent to TrumpÂ’s 48 percent, an uptick from when they were tied in September at 49 percent each. The Keystone State saw a significant shift in independents, with Harris taking a 15-point lead among them, compared to TrumpÂ’s 4-point lead in this group in September.

She also leads 50 percent to 48 percent in Wisconsin, where she led by 1 point in September. She saw an improvement with independents here, too, from 4 points to 6 points, but itÂ’s below the 12-point margin Biden had in the state in 2020.

Pollsters also found a significant gender gap in each state, though some of them are not as pronounced as they were in 2020.

Harris leads among women by 11 points in Michigan, 8 points in Pennsylvania and 12 points in Wisconsin, while Trump is ahead among men by 6 in Michigan, 4 in Pennsylvania and 9 in Wisconsin. The gender gap is at 17 points in Michigan and 12 points in Pennsylvania, according to the polls, large gaps but down from 24 points in Michigan and 22 points in Pennsylvania from four years ago.

The polls also found Democratic Senate candidates slightly ahead in each state. Rep. Elissa Slotkin (D-Mich.) leads former Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Mich.) by 6 points in Michigan, Sen. Bob Casey (D-Pa.) leads Republican Dave McCormick by 2 points in Pennsylvania and Sen. Tammy Baldwin (D-Wis.) leads Republican Eric Hovde by 3 points in Wisconsin.

    ________

Nate Silver calls Marist blue wall polls reassuring for Harris

Veteran pollster Nate Silver said FridayÂ’s Marist poll bodes well for Vice President HarrisÂ’s campaign, with just days until the election.

Silver, the founder of ABC’s 538, took to social media to share his opinion, suggesting the lead in the three “blue wall” states that went for former President Trump in 2016 and flipped back to President Biden in 2020 could be encouraging for Harris.

“Reassuring polls for Harris in the sense that the race is likely to remain toss-up-ish,” he posted on the social platform X. “Unless the final NYT/Siena state polls all tilt in the same direction I guess.”

    __________

Harris: Trump’s guns ‘trained on her face’ remarks about Liz Cheney should be ‘disqualifying’

Vice President Harris on Friday condemned former President Trump’s remarks describing former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) as having guns “trained on her face,” saying that rhetoric should disqualify him from being president again.

“He has increased his violent rhetoric, Donald Trump has, about political opponents, and in great detail … suggested rifles should be trained on former Rep. Liz Cheney. This must be disqualifying,” Harris said. “Anyone who wants to be president of the United States who uses that kind of violent rhetoric is clearly disqualified and unqualified to be president.”

Vice President Kamala Harris at Wisconsin Community Rally | Harris-Walz 2024

    ________

Baldwin joins Harris in final push for Wisconsin

Vice President Harris made her final push for Wisconsin before Election Day, joined by Sen. Tammy Baldwin (D-Wisc.) on a three-stop swing through the key battleground state.

“Wisconsin, truly, we need everyone to vote here. You, Wisconsin, are going to make the difference in this election. You will make the difference,” Harris said at a Friday evening rally in Little Chute.

The crowd at the rally, holding “vote” and “when we vote, we win” signs chanted “we will win.”

“We are the type of people that when you know what you stand for, you know what to fight for,” Harris said.

The vice president, in arguing that she believes in the promise of America, called herself “a child of the civil rights movement.”

“My parents took me to the marches when I was in a stroller. And there were people there from every walk of life who came together to fight for freedom and for opportunity,” she said. “The promise of America is all around us. It is in the young leaders who are voting for the very first time. Where are you? Oh, I love Gen-Z! I really do.”

She also asked the crowd who had already voted early, which was met with loud cheers at the rally.

Harris keeps bringing in new money as Trump struggles to grow his donor base

Kamala Harris’ fundraising operation has been so dominant that she has brought in more new donors than Donald Trump every single day heading into the final stretch of the election.

The vice president’s financial advantage is well-known, but most of the attention has gone to the candidates’ respective money totals. That money has allowed Harris to build up a much greater campaign apparatus than Trump, while the former president has had to rely more on outside super PACs for support.

But in some ways it’s the donors, not the money, that’s most revealing. Donors are a subset of voters, tending to reflect the most engaged supporters on either side. And Harris has a massive donor advantage: Her operation, carried over from President Joe Biden, has more than twice as many donors as Trump's campaign apparatus.

It didn’t always look like it was going to be this way. After Trump’s conviction in the New York hush money case in late May, he briefly surpassed Biden’s campaign in terms of total donors, reversing Democrats' longstanding money advantage. But Harris saw a massive surge in donors after she replaced Biden in mid-July, and since then she has continued to draw new donors far faster than Trump, according to a detailed POLITICO analysis of fundraising data through mid-October. That analysis, based on campaign finance reports filed with the Federal Election Commission, encompasses the candidates’ campaigns and joint fundraising committees as well as the online giving platforms ActBlue and WinRed.

Democrats have long had a larger online donor base and more developed fundraising infrastructure than Republicans. In 2020, for example, Biden had more than 2 million more individual donors than Trump did.

But notable is how both campaigns today compare to last cycle: Harris has significantly expanded on Biden's donor numbers, while Trump actually slightly lags his own numbers from four years ago. Today, the Biden-turned-Harris campaign has more than 2.4 times the number of donors as the Trump campaign — a gap of nearly 4.3 million funders.

    ________

Harris has narrow lead over Trump in new national survey

Vice President Harris has a 1-point lead over former President Trump in a new national survey released days before Election Day.

Harris leads Trump 47 percent to 46 percent among registered voters in The Economist/YouGov survey, which was conducted Oct. 26-29.

One percent backed the Green Party’s Jill Stein, 3 percent said they were “not sure” about the presidential candidate they support and another 1 percent said they “did” or “would not vote.”

    ________

Arizona attorney general investigating Trump’s rifle comments about Cheney

The Arizona attorney general’s office said it is investigating former President Trump’s comments about former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) as a death threat under state laws, in a statement to The Hill.

“I have already asked my criminal division chief to start looking at that statement, analyzing it for whether it qualifies as a death threat under Arizona’s laws,” Attorney General Kris Mayes told 12NEWS in Phoenix on Friday.

“I’m not prepared now to say whether it was or it wasn’t, but it is not helpful as we prepare for our election and as we try to make sure that we keep the peace at our polling places and in our state,” the Democrat said during a taping of “Sunday Square Off.”

In Arizona, intimidating statements or threats can warrant a Class 1 misdemeanor or Class 6 felony, which can result in up to four months to two years in prison. Cheney also equated the former president’s comments to a death threat on Friday in a post on social platform X.

“This is how dictators destroy free nations,” she wrote. “They threaten those who speak against them with death.”

    _________

    Harris voter excitement advantage

Share who say they are more enthusiastic about voting compared to previous elections, by party

Emboldened allies of Vice President Harris are circulating new Gallup data that shows Democratic enthusiasm at a (slightly) higher level than it was for Barack Obama's big 2008 victory.

Why it matters: With four days left in this coin-toss election, campaigns and their supporters are grasping for any fresh data points that hint at the state of the race.

By the numbers: Gallup polling shows Dems with a 10-point enthusiasm advantage over Republicans.

    • The 77% of Democrats who say they're excited outnumber the 75% who said they were excited in 2020. In 2016, that number was 50%.
    • Matt Bennett, co-founder of the center-left Democratic think tank Third Way, tweeted that this is "a massively underreported fact. You can see it in the rallies, the field offices, and online. It could be decisive."

Between the lines: Voter enthusiasm, which the pollster started tracking in 2000, has a mixed track record of predicting presidential elections.

    • It was right in 2020 and 2016 — but missed badly in 2012, when Gallup data showed Republicans with a 12-point edge.

Walz calls Trump’s Cheney rifle comments ‘sickening but not surprising’

Democratic vice presidential nominee Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) condemned former President Trump’s remarks describing former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) as having guns “trained on her face,” saying the comments were “sickening” and “un-American,” but “not surprising.”

“Well, it’s sickening but not surprising. This is exactly what he does… And so when I hear it, yeah, it’s sickening, it’s un-American, but it also just inspires me, and I hope it does a whole bunch of your listeners. This is why they need to go vote,” Walz told Zerlina Maxwell in an interview Friday on SiriusXM.

“This is why we need to put an end to this. This is why we need to get that new way forward that the vice president keeps talking about that is truly American. So it just inspires me to go work more,” Walz added, calling it “unacceptable behavior.”

Harris has slight lead over Trump ahead of Election Day:YouGov

Vice President Harris is narrowly outpacing former President Trump just days before Election Day, according to YouGovÂ’s final presidential estimate.

The election model, unveiled Friday, shows Harris leading Trump by 3 points nationally, 50 percent to 47 percent. The latest update shows the vice president with 240 electoral votes compared to her GOP rivalÂ’s 218. Around 80 remain a toss-up.

The previous model from Oct. 16 showed Harris ahead with 250 electoral votes and the former president with 219. In that release, only 69 voters were considered toss-ups.

YouGov listed Nevada, Arizona, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Georgia as the likely battlegrounds — leaving off Michigan.

In Nevada, Harris leads Trump with 50 percent support to his 48 percent. In Arizona, Trump takes the lead, outpacing Harris by the same 3-point margin, the model shows.

In North Carolina and Pennsylvania, the vice president has a slight lead over the former president, 49 percent to 48 percent. She also outpaces the Republican nominee by 2 points in Wisconsin, 49 percent to 47 percent, according to the pollster.

Though in Georgia, the model shows the GOP nominee with a 1-point edge over his Democratic rival, 49 percent to 48 percent.

Harris widens lead on Trump in Virginia: Poll

Vice President Harris widened her lead over her opponent former President Trump in Virginia, with less than 3 days left before Election Day, according to a poll released on Friday.

The survey, conducted by the Institute for Policy and Opinion Research (IPOR) at Roanoke College, found the vice president leading Trump by 10 points, 51 percent to 41 percent, among VirginiaÂ’s likely voters.

Independent Cornel West and Libertarian Chase Oliver both received 2 percent support while Green Party candidate Jill Stein got 1 percent. Some 2 percent of respondents were undecided while another 2 percent said they would choose another candidate.

The economy was the top issue for the likely voters at 43 percent. Abortion was second with 20 percent, followed by immigration at 12 percent. Foreign affairs was the fourth most important issue with 8 percent while crime was at 3 percent, according to the survey.

Respondents trusted Harris more on both crime and foreign policy, 49 percent to TrumpÂ’s 45 percent. They favored Trump on the economy, 49 percent to 46 percent. On immigration, both White House contenders were tied at 48 percent. Likely voters had more faith in Harris on abortion, 57 percent to the Republican nomineeÂ’s 36 percent.

Approximately 46 percent of the pollÂ’s respondents said that Harris cares and understands people like them, nearly 10 points higher than TrumpÂ’s 37 percent.

Former President TrumpÂ’s rally in Milwaukee on Friday was derailed by technical difficulties as he seethed over microphone issues during his final planned stop in the swing state of Wisconsin.

The crowd at Fiserv Forum, the same venue that hosted July’s GOP convention, chanted at times “fix the mic,” while Trump pulled the microphone out of its holder and held it by hand.

“I think this mic stinks, by the way. And then we don’t pay the contractor. I say don’t pay the contractor, then they write a story, ‘Trump doesn’t pay his bills, he’s a bad guy,'” Trump said.

“Do you want to see me knock the hell out of people backstage?” Trump added later, calling it a “pretty stupid situation.”

“I get so angry. I’m up here seething. I’m seething. I’m working my ass off with this stupid mic. I’m blowing out my left arm, now I’m going to blow out my right arm, and I’m blowing out my damn throat too, because these stupid people. I’ll make you a deal.
