The net result, according to Pew research, is that about 50 million voters who could be eligible to vote, won’t be.

Switch, you do realise that only those over the age of 18 are allowed to vote. So not 333m but 240m.

Read my original post again. I suggest that a number either choose not to vote, or they are ineligible. The ineligible list varies from state to state.
It is possible to register in some states between the age of 16 and 17.5. Under age 18 they cannot vote. You are trying too hard. Around 50m voters who could be eligible, are not able to vote because parties believe the opposition might benefit. That is from Pew research, not my guesswork.

The fact remains, a significant number do not vote!

30% on average over the last three elections.

Remember Biden's share of 81M or so was a record.

It's probably going to be in the same ballpark unless something really drastic happens.

The US should do like the Aussies and Thais. Mandatory all vote.

A good idea in principle, but difficult to police. Thailand can’t police current laws, so voting will be given a low priority.

Any universal system will be difficult and expensive to manage. It will inevitably end up with costs borne by the state.

Trump might not like it because it could reduce the opportunity for his fraud.

The 81m figure might be exceptional, but if that’s what it takes to lose the trumptard, so be it.

But isn't that forcing people to vote for the lesser of 2 evils Norts? I mean I get it. Close your eyes, check a box or push a button and go home and wait.

IMHO, This issue really only surfaced and became an issue when that douchebag Trump took center stage. Maybe it wasn't so obvious before but now its a glaring issue. People are not voting for the candidate they think will do the best job, but to keep a lying narcissistic schmuck out of office. Lets just hope this ends as hoped and Trump catches a plane with his wife and they scurry on off to Venezuela and he is gone. I read that if he goes, the Secret Service are not required to protect him....sooo maybe...just maybe...

Mandatory voting has its pros and cons. Personally, I am against it. Those that don't vote are usually apathetic anyway and that lack of interest would probably lead to lots of spoiled papers.

By the way, it it true that a convicted villaon loses his right to vote in the US? If so, is that only while under sentence or forever?

Sure it is but at least we end up with the lesser evil.

Of course we could all do as George does.

Depends on state but most barred from voting only while serving the sentance. Trump, a convicted felon, can vote.

May I humbly ask our USA constitutiional experts what happens if any candidate is dead?
I read RFK is till on ballot in Wisconsin as too late to change and postal voting starts .

If Harris or Trump die for any reason is it too late for their parties to replace and get on the november ballot?

At present looking regal more like a simple weekend shooting party rather than a Grope fest

The GOP would never accept it.

They spend most of their time trying to stop people voting.

Not completely sure but if Trump or Harris won the vote, and then dies, the constitution defers to the VP as President. There was a time when nominating a VP was not compulsory, but now it is compulsory for that very reason.
The electoral process has to reach a specified date in the process before this can happen.

Russian disinformation merchants have something in common with Donald Trump: They, too, needed some time to process President Joe Biden withdrawing from the presidential campaign to make way for Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee.
A report published Tuesday by Microsoft’s Threat Analysis Center (MTAC) finds “a synchronized shift” in recent weeks from maligning Biden to undermining Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, among some of the usual Russian suspects.
“Russian influence operations initially struggled to pivot operations aimed at the Democratic campaign following President Biden’s departure from the US 2024 presidential race,” the seven-page report (PDF) observes. “In late August, however, elements of prolific Russian actor Storm-1516 began producing content implicating Vice President Harris and Governor Walz in outlandish fake conspiracy theories.”
The report cites two fake videos put out by that operation since late August: One, “which received millions of views,” falsely depicted Harris supporters attacking a Trump rally attendee, while the other shared lies about Harris paralyzing a child in a 2011 hit-and-run car crash. Storm-1516 shared the second video on a phony site impersonating a Bay Area newsroom “only created days beforehand.”

When you don't really understand economics or trade so go straight to nuclear weapons as the biggest threat to car manufacturing.

Stopping the Steal: An HBO documentary about baldy orange cunto trying to fuck up the 2020 election.

Bill Barr, who did so much to cover up the Mueller report, does an amazing job of trying to pretend he's the fucking good guy. What an arsehole.

Yes worth a peak and prelude to a rerun?
I don't see Trump conceding graciously if he loses.
The Scanidis Brits and Benelux keep the head of state above the hoi polloi.

America is a youngish flailing democracy struggling to deal with social media and malevolant actors many are much closer to Wall St than Moscow IMHO.

I hope Harris/Walz deafeat Trump but still looks tight and teg rednecks with guns just want to Make America White again, remeber the Januray 6 attempted coup to annul teh election result , no sign of Asians and Latinos in Washington DC a majority of people are African American but most of the rioters seemed overwhelmingly white to me on press coverage on main networks.

Pround Boys the shame of America.
