    Roe V Wade overturned

The Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade Friday, holding that there is no longer a federal constitutional right to an abortion.   The opinion is the most consequential Supreme Court decision in decades and will transform the landscape of women’s reproductive health in America.
Going forward, abortion rights will be determined by states, unless Congress acts. Already, nearly half of the states have or will pass laws that ban abortion while others have enacted strict measures regulating the procedure.

How bizarre to be sending $60bn++ overseas to fight a losing war- when the real war is at home.

I’m sure there will be a lot of people heading south of the border, for the procedure.

I never considered the US a country which would take away rights. Yet, here we go down the slippery slope.

Justice Clarence Thomas Takes Aim at Contraception, Same-Sex Relationships

In the Supreme Court’s stunning—but not entirely unexpected—decision handed down Friday that overturned Roe v. Wade and ended a woman’s constitutionally protected right to an abortion, ultra-conservative Justice Clarence Thomas suggested taking aim at various other rights Americans have come to take for granted: contraception, same-sex relationships, and gay marriage. In his concurring opinion, Thomas wrote that the “purported right to abortion is not a form of ‘liberty’ protected by the Due Process Clause.” Accordingly, Thomas continued, “we should reconsider all of this Court’s substantive due process precedents, including Griswold, Lawrence, and Obergefell,” referring to the landmark decisions that enshrined the right to birth control, struck down laws criminalizing gay sex, and gave same-sex couples the right to marry.

Major Texas Abortion Fund Pauses Money for Abortions After Roe Is Overturne

The Lilith Fund, one of the most prominent abortion funds in Texas, ceased funding abortions temporarily Friday after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v Wade. Texas is one of 22 states with an abortion ban on the books that could take effect quickly now that the decision is overturned. Because of this, the Lilith Fund said in a statement, the fund was “forced to pause direct funding of abortion care” while it evaluated the impact of the decision. It would continue operating its hotline and building reproductive justice programming. “Today we are grieving, but tomorrow we will continue our fight,” said Executive Director Amanda Beatriz Williams in a statement. “And while we are forced to comply with the law, abortion funds are experts in building power in our communities and we aren’t going to stop showing up for pregnant Texans.”

No universal healthcare, no women's right to choose, no raise in the abysmally low minimum wage, no "Build back Better". Onya Joe.

This is disastrous and a long step back for the USA.

I'm not sure of the cost, etc but Canada is open to visitors from down south. Our feminist PM has already suggested all will be welcome.

I hope that's a feeble attempt at wit, because if it isn't you're even more of a retard than I thought.

It seems you're one of several people who don't really understand this decision.

    It doesn't ban abortion.

It allows states run by retarded fucking god botherers to ban abortion.

Most Americans support the right to abortion. If there’s a silver lining, perhaps it will manifest itself at the polls, in November.

its staggering and a very sad decision for women, reminds me of the Catholics in Ireland and their medieval ways.

^As long as that method is used on someone you love, I’m OK with it.

The US Supreme Court ruled whether the US Constitution specifically includes abortion rights. They ruled it does not. So, the right to regulate abortion goes to the voters/representatives of each of the states.

If enough states/voters feel a need to change the constitution, they can change the constitution.

^ The fact that states can ban abortion and assume they can take the right away from a woman to chose how she deals with her body is medieval, you lot are back in the dark ages.

It’s interesting to go back and read what the slimy 5 said at their confirmation hearings.

Given his misogynist views and that it's he's happy to call his wife a flip I'd venture to suggest that only person he loves is himself.
