If anything those 50-100k disclosures just show how laughably corrupt these disclosures are. Either that or it is a typo.

Someone with 130 million would not pick 50k off the ground of he accidentally dropped it.

Sanction Pelosi and her like, make them feel real and lasting pain: Global Times editorial - Global Times

According to some Hong Kong media outlets, Pelosi's husband and son made a great sum of money from investments in the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong and other parts of Asia through funds. About half of the Asia Dividend Fund under Matthews Global Investors (Hong Kong) Ltd, founded by her husband, involves Chinese enterprises.

^ What is the big deal with Pelosi having money invested in China? I would guess that MOST investors have money in China. And, a millionaire would stop and pick up 50K if they dropped it. It is a lot of money. They didn’t become millionaires by being careless with money.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Friday responded to China's live military drills around Taiwan by saying that Beijing won't succeed in isolating the self-governing island nor stop U.S. officials from visiting Taipei.
It seems to have achieved exactly that-

“The U.S.-Japanese alliance, rooted in shared values, is a cornerstone of security, prosperity and peace in the Indo-Pacific. It is with great respect for Japan’s Democracy that our Congressional delegation came to Tokyo to deepen our valued partnership with our close ally and friend.

“In that spirit, our delegation was honored to be hosted by Prime Minister Fumio Kishida. In our bilateral discussions, we reaffirmed our nations’ shared commitment to advance security and defend democracy. Our delegation thanked the Prime Minister for his leadership in Japan and in the region in condemning Russia’s unlawful invasion of Ukraine.

“Our delegation was extended a special privilege by Speaker Hiroyuki Hosoda in the Diet to be included in a beautiful tribute to Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. The Speaker next hosted a substantive bilateral meeting with members of the Diet. We conveyed the importance of President Biden’s Asia-Pacific initiative and Japan’s leadership role in the region.

“Security was central to our purpose in visiting the region. We received briefings from Vice Admiral Karl Thomas, Commander of the U.S. Navy Seventh Fleet, and Lieutenant General Ricky N. Rupp, Commander, U.S. Forces Japan. Our delegation was grateful for the opportunity to convey our gratitude and pride we have for our men and women serving in Japan.

    "CCTV:

Over the past few days, we noticed many countries have voiced support for China over US House Speaker Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan, and you shared quite some examples with us. Could you give us more updates today?

    Hua Chunying:

Indeed, in the wake of Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan, over 160 countries have spoken up for justice, condemned the visit as a serious, reckless and irresponsible provocation and expressed their commitment to the one-China principle and support for China’s efforts to uphold sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe reiterated on social media Sri Lanka’s firm commitment to the one-China policy as well as to the UN Charter principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity of nations.

Singaporean Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan said in talks with State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi during the East Asia cooperation foreign ministers’ meetings that Singapore has a clear and consistent one-China policy and is opposed to Taiwan independence and any unilateral moves to change the status quo.

Thailand’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson expressed respect for China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Laos released a statement reiterating its support for the policy of China on national reunification by peaceful means and reaffirming its consistent policy that Taiwan is an inalienable part of China as well as its opposition to any intention aimed at creating a situation for “two Chinas” or “one China, one Taiwan”.

Lao Foreign Minister Saleumxay Kommasith said while meeting with State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi that the US’s recent provocation on the Taiwan question goes against its own commitment and undermines China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Laos is strongly against any attempt to create “two Chinas” or “one China, one Taiwan” and supports China’s efforts to uphold its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The Malaysian Prime Minister’s Special Envoy to China released a statement urging Western nations against practicing double standards by trying to compare Taiwan with Ukraine or trying to encircle Russia and call for respect for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity on one hand while meddling in China’s internal affairs and intending to use Taiwan to divide China on the other. This would be using democracy as a pretext to interfere in and infringe upon China’s sovereignty in violation of basic principles of international law.

The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation issued a statement, reaffirming its support for China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity as well as the importance of respecting the one-China principle, while calling for adherence to relevant UN resolutions. The UAE indicated its concern over the impact of any provocative visits on stability and international peace. ...."

Apple urges suppliers to follow Chinese long-held customs rules on 'Taiwan' labeling in another fallout of Pelosi's visit

    By Wang Jiamei

    Published: Aug 06, 2022 02:24 PM

"US tech giant Apple told its suppliers to strictly comply with the Chinese mainland customs regulations and avoid labeling products from Taiwan island as "made in Taiwan," the Nikkei reported on Friday.

In another possible economic fallout of US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's provocative visit to Taiwan island, the Chinese mainland appears to be moving to tighten the enforcement of labeling rules on imports from the island, indicating that the mainland will not allow any ambiguity on the Taiwan question on all aspects, including in the economic and trade area, experts noted.

According to the reports, mainland authorities have started tightening the enforcement of a rule that Taiwan-made parts and components must be labeled as made either in "Taiwan, China" or "Chinese Taipei" to avoid shipments from being held for scrutiny.

The Apple warning came on the heels of another media report that shipments to Apple's supplier Pegatron Corp's factory in Suzhou, East China's Jiangsu Province, were being held for scrutiny by Chinese customs, to see if there is violation of labeling regulations. But Pegatron denied the report, saying that its Suzhou plant is operating normally and there has been no shipment disruptions, according to Bloomberg. Apple is not available for comment on Saturday.

In fact, early in 1999, China's General Administration of Customs already stipulated that goods and their packaging with labeling content in violation of the one-China principle will not be allowed to import or export. This means that the mainland's regulations regarding the management of certificate of origin and labeling in the cross-Straits trade have been enforced for many years.

A tightening of the labeling rule may not just affect Apple's suppliers, but all those that send shipments from Taiwan island to the mainland, Gao Lingyun, an expert at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) in Beijing, told the Global Times on Saturday.

According to Gao, the enforcement of the labeling rule was not very strict in the past. Since the Taiwan authority also requires all exported goods made in the island to be labeled as "Taiwan" or the so-called "Republic of China," many exporters from Taiwan used to label the boxes loaded with goods as "Taiwan, China" after leaving the Taiwan ports to dodge the regulation, said Gao.

"If the mainland authorities tighten the enforcement of the rule, this may increase the probability of shipments from Taiwan island being seized by the mainland customs," Gao noted.

Despite concerns over trade barriers, this is more like a posture of emphasizing the one China principle to the cross-Straits business community after Pelosi's visit, Mei Xinyu, a research fellow with the Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation under the Ministry of Commerce, told the Global Times on Saturday.

Pelosi's visit to the island and the secessionist Democratic Progressive Party's pandering have pushed the Taiwan question to the edge of a showdown. Against this backdrop, the labeling rule is actually telling the businesspeople in Taiwan that they have to make a choice, Mei noted.

After Pelosi's provocative visit to Taiwan island, Chinese mainland customs authorities on Wednesday suspended the entry of citrus fruits including grapefruits, lemons and oranges, as well as two types of fish from the island, in accordance with regulations and food safety requirements. The mainland's exports of natural sand, used in construction, to the island were banned."

Apple urges suppliers to follow Chinese long-held customs rules on 'Taiwan' labeling in another fallout of Pelosi's visit - Global Times

Some are suggesting the "natural sand" is utilised in silicon chip manufacturing.

Taiwanese shrug off China drills:"Everyone becomes numb to it"

LIUQIU ISLAND, Taiwan — Families collected shells on the beach and tourists took selfies at sunset on the tiny resort island of Liuqiu, less than six miles away from one of the "danger zones" where China is conducting live-fire military drills.

The big picture: While international attention focuses on an emerging cross-strait crisis, Taiwanese have been living with Chinese government threats for decades. Few people appeared seriously concerned about a possible military conflict — even on this islet, closer to the drills than any other part of Taiwan.

Driving the news: China launched a series of military exercises in six zones encircling Taiwan after U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's visit to Taiwan last week, and ballistic missiles launched from China landed in waters east of Taiwan.

    • The drills, which are due to end on Sunday, are the largest China has ever held in the Taiwan Strait. Taiwan's Ministry of Defense said the exercises amount to an "air and sea blockade," as some commercial flights and cargo ships in the region have had to adjust or cancel their routes.

What's happening: Tourists were still flocking to the island about eight miles off the southwest coast of Taiwan, even as the drills were underway.

    • Divers swam with turtles close to the shore, and fishing boats traversed the nearby waters as usual. In the evenings, seaside restaurants and bars were filled to capacity.

What they're saying: In interviews with more than 20 tourists and local residents, nonchalance seemed to be the most common attitude toward the live-fire drills happening just a few miles away.

    • When asked if they were nervous about the close proximity of Chinese ships warships and planes, numerous people laughed and shook their heads. Others said the drills were only intended as a show of intimidation rather than a serious military threat.
    • "They are putting political pressure on us, but me personally, I don’t think anything bad’s gonna happen," said Chi Tsao, who came to Liuqiu with a group of friends. "If they wanted to do something militarily, they would have done that a long time ago."

The military drills haven't affected business, Jen Yu, a woman who works at a diving school on Liuqiu, told Axios.

    • The number of customers has declined slightly in the past week, Yu said, but that's because it is "ghost month," the seventh month of the lunar calendar when ghosts are believed to come out of the water and curse those unlucky enough to run into them.
    • Some divers were afraid of the ghosts, but they weren't afraid of China's military exercises, Yu said.
    • "People who don’t live here keep telling me, watch for the military! But I don’t see anything, so I don’t know why people keep telling me that," she said.

Yes, but: A few people did express anxiety about the drills and the rise in tensions between China and Taiwan.

    • "I feel a little nervous. It’s a feeling of being squeezed," said Xie Hui-ju, a school teacher who had come to the beach with her husband and three daughters. "A lot of things can’t be exported anymore, so that influences our economy."
    • Even so, Xie said she wasn't worried about an actual military conflict. Taiwanese people have heard threats from China all their lives, she explained. "After a long time of this, everyone becomes numb to it. People think it’s just words, that they won’t take real action."

Zoom out: The attitudes in Liuqiu reflect those in other parts of Taiwan, though there has been growing interest in civil defense training since the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which jolted many Taiwanese into thinking seriously about their response if China really were to invade.

    • Two young women standing on Sunset Pavilion, which looks out on the waters where China's nearest drill zone is located, said they had gone out on a boat earlier and the captain had pointed out a ship in the distance and told the passengers half-jokingly that "we might get bombed."
    • One of the women, Jolene, said that on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being highest, her level of concern was a 3. The other, Emily, said hers was a 6 or 7.
    • "This is kind of a dangerous situation," Emily said. "We’re already living in this kind of situation everyday, so we have to get used to it to keep our life and peace of mind."

China made their position very clear in the last 2 or 3 leaders meetings with the NaGastan leaders. NaGastan has continued to stir pot holes in the road to mutual trust. The opportunity for a trusting relationship is gone. Hanging by a thread that is only getting more tight.

All that has happened is that China and Russia are integrating their future more tightly together.

When they will collectively react is unknown, to me. They will not be driven to save the current NaGastan government from more disastrous moves.

NaGaStan has chosen the path of unilateral decision-making. With no accommodation for peer level adversaries.

Europe and the UK leaders are basket cases, NaGastan is on it's own, other groupings without them are forming every day.

I fear NaGastan will lash out, once their internal problems become more difficult for them to manage. And they are.

    • Over 160 countries have reiterated their commitment to the one China policy. Includes all of Asean, and BRICS. There are some 285 countries in the world.
    • The Dems tried to talk Pelosi out of her meaningless China visit. Showing what an ineffectual bunch of wankers they are, and what a self serving turncoat she is. Just domestic politicking, from an old hag past her sell by date..
    • No policy was discussed, no policy was changed. No trade deals. What was the point? US is not gonna change it's one China policy.
    • Some economic sanctions on Taiwan. Not much really- China realises it's just pathetic childishness. Had to do something, that's all.

But here is the real thing, which underscores the pointlessness of this pettiness-

Taiwan’s trade with China is far bigger than its trade with the U.S.
