Khan was about to declare martial law, to avoid losing power.
He still enjoys some popularity but mostly only because of his cricketing exploits.
His reign has been economically disastrous. And 'reign' is the right word because he acts like he's a king beyond questions.
A lot of Pakistanis could see right through what Khan was up to: A Maduro or Putin-style take over of state institutions to give him and his party sole power.
Any leader who doesn't have whole ministries being run out of the US embassy in their country for the benefit of the US, is a Putinista now.
The US embassy in Ukraine had 700+ employees. I wonder what those 700+ employees were doing all day. Processing passports ?
Mass protests in Pakistan against ‘imported’ government

"Massive demonstrations rocked multiple Pakistani cities, including the country’s capital of Islamabad, on Sunday, with thousands taking to the streets to express their support for deposed Prime Minister Imran Khan. He was ousted by the country’s parliament in a successful no-confidence vote on Saturday. Khan blasted the vote as a foreign-backed regime change operation.
“Never have such crowds come out so spontaneously and in such numbers in our history, rejecting the imported govt led by crooks,” Khan said on Twitter, sharing footage of the protests.
The demonstrations were spearheaded by Khan’s PTI party, which called upon its members and supporters to take to the streets across the country.
Earlier in the day, Khan reiterated his allegations against the US, blaming his ouster on Washington and branding it a “regime change” operation aimed at bringing “into power a coterie of pliable crooks all out on bail.”
The former PM also said the country was entering a new period of “freedom struggle” with the Pakistani people protecting “sovereignty and democracy” from a “foreign conspiracy of regime change.”
Previously, the politician claimed to have a recording obtained from the Pakistani ambassador in Washington proving the allegations. The US had firmly rejected such allegations, denying any involvement in the events.
Pakistan’s National Assembly passed a vote of no-confidence against Khan with 176 lawmakers out of 342 voting for the move to end his office term early. The PTI party effectively lost its parliamentary majority back in March, after seven MPs from its coalition party defected and joined the ranks of the opposition.
Pakistan’s parliament is set to hold a vote to pick a new PM on Monday."

A tray full of GOLD is not worth a moment in time.
It's basically a carbon copy of Trump.
And the usual clowns lap it up.
That's a massive oversimplification, but yeah - dumb voters are a problem around the world.
In the UK they've hammered good sense out of the equation.
We've got a bunch of cu*ts in power so venal that even Pakistani cricket fans would baulk at voting for them.

The allegiance of the protestors, is the only debatable fact.
Did Prime Minister Khan force the thousands of his citizens in to the street at gun point/pay them all off ... or are the citizens of Pakistan showing the world their true wish.
It appears that the decision will be voted upon by the politicians soon.
Whether the parliamentarians truly represent the will of the Pakistan citizens will be shown, are the Pakistani citizens able to make a decision. They are little brown people, only skilled at tossing a red ball at 3 sticks, after all:

The elected officials have spoken:
Shehbaz Sharif Elected New Pakistani Prime Minister by National Assembly
4 hours ago
"The election of a new prime minister took place amid political turmoil in Pakistan that saw its previous Prime Minister Imran Khan ousted after he attempted to dissolve the nation's parliament and organise snap elections.
The Pakistani National Assembly has elected Shehbaz Sharif the country's new prime minister after his predecessor Imran Khan was ousted from his post. Some 174 lawmakers, more than half of the National Assembly, voted for the candidacy of Sharif, who leads the opposition party Pakistan Muslim League-N.
Shehbaz Sharif can now form his own government, which will work until the next general election in the country, which is due in August 2023. The newly minted prime minister vowed to make changes in Pakistan calling his election a "victory of democracy".
The new prime minister also called his predecessor a "liar" warning that Pakistan is currently heading for the biggest budget and trade deficit in its history following Imran Khan's tenure in office.
Lawmakers from the Pakistan Movement for Justice (Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf) led by Imran Khan, boycotted the election and walked out of the National Assembly in protest. The party's candidate for the post of new prime minister, former Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, announced that PTI lawmakers will be ditching their National Assembly seats.
Pakistani Prime Minister Ousted in Hard-Won No-Confidence Vote
The election took place amid political turmoil that has lasted over a week following an attempy by opposition parties to hold a vote of no confidence in then-Prime Minister Imran Khan. The attempt, undertaken on 3 April, was thwarted after Khan advised President Arif Alvi to dissolve the National Assembly and hence call early elections.
The move, however, was overturned by Pakistan's Supreme Court, which ruled it unconstitutional. The National Assembly then convened again on 10 April, successfully passing a no-confidence motion and thus ousting Imran Khan. The ousted prime minister, in turn, accused the US of being behind a plot to have opposition parties oust him. Washington denied having anything to do with the vote.
Opposition parties, united under the Pakistan Democratic Movement alliance accused Imran Khan of poor governance and management of the country's economy, as well as persecution of political opponents.
Khan came to power in 2018 breaking away from the longtime political rivalry between two political forces – the Bhutto and Sharif families, who have dominated Pakistan's politics for decades. Members of both families face accusations of corruption and misconduct, which they denied and newly elected Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif himself is on bail in a money laundering case against him. The latter was extended upon his election until 27 April by a court."

Unfortunately, it's spurniknews, so it may not be legit.
What will be the citizens' reaction.
Will another "election" be called if the new Prime Minister is found guilty of the money laundering charge, or can he remain in power whilst he serves his jail sentence? Do they have Supreme Court Judges from Great Britain making life and death decisions? It being a "stan" country.
