Xi Jinping ordered the Genocide against Uighurs?

Leaked papers link top Chinese leaders to Uyghur crackdown - BBC News

A newly published cache of documents directly links top Chinese leaders including President Xi Jinping to the state's crackdown on Uyghur Muslims.

The documents include speeches which analysts say prove senior government leaders called for measures that led to mass internment and forced labour.

China has consistently denied that it is committing genocide against Uyghurs.

Some of the documents were the subject of an earlier report, but the latest leak has previously unseen information.

They were passed to the Uyghur Tribunal - an independent people's tribunal in the UK - in September, but have not previously been published in full. The tribunal asked three academics who specialise in the field - Drs Adrian Zenz, David Tobin and James Millward - to authenticate the documents.

The documents, branded the 'Xinjiang Papers', after the region which is home to most of China's Uyghurs, reveal how Chinese Communist party (CCP) leaders including Mr Xi and Premier Li Keqiang made statements which directly led to policies affecting the Uyghurs and other Muslims.

These include forced internments, mass sterilisations, forced assimilation, "re-education", and coercion of detained Uyghurs to work in factories.

The New York Times had reported on an identical set of documents that were leaked to them in 2019, but not all were made available to the public.

In a report on the documents, Dr Zenz said his analysis showed that the links between statements made by top government figures and subsequent policies that were implemented against the Uyghurs were "far more extensive, detailed and significant than previously understood".

China has come under massive international pressure over allegations of human rights violations in Xinjiang. A marked shift in China's approach to the region can be traced back to two brutal attacks on pedestrians and commuters in Beijing in 2013 and the city of Kunming in 2014, blamed by China on Uyghur Islamists and separatists.

Its response from 2016 onwards has been the building of so-called "re-education" camps for Uyghurs and other Muslims, and the targeting of Xinjiang residents deemed to have displayed any behaviour viewed as a sign of untrustworthiness.

China has also pursued a strategy of forced labour, by deploying Uyghurs to pick cotton in Xinjiang.

In addition, reports have emerged of China forcibly mass sterilising Uyghur women to suppress the population, separating children from their families, and attempting to break the cultural traditions of the group.

Several countries, including the US, Canada and the Netherlands, have accused China of committing genocide and crimes against humanity.

China has vehemently denied these allegations, saying the crackdown in Xinjiang is necessary to prevent terrorism and root out Islamist extremism, and the camps are an effective tool for "re-educating" inmates in its fight against terrorism.

Here's you being stupid AGAIN. Here's the UN definition of Genocide AGAIN. This must be about the tenth time.

Do you struggle with big words?

    Elements of the crime

The Genocide Convention establishes in Article I that the crime of genocide may take place in the context of an armed conflict, international or non-international, but also in the context of a peaceful situation. The latter is less common but still possible. The same article establishes the obligation of the contracting parties to prevent and to punish the crime of genocide.

The popular understanding of what constitutes genocide tends to be broader than the content of the norm under international law. Article II of the Genocide Convention contains a narrow definition of the crime of genocide, which includes two main elements:

    1. A mental element: the "intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group, as such"; and
    2. A physical element, which includes the following five acts, enumerated exhaustively:
      • Killing members of the group
      • Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group
      • Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part
      • Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group
      • Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group

You jointly possess all of the mutual expertise and familiarity of a cattle herd who not only have never been to Xinjiang- or even probably China, but can never afford to go. So of course the last thing you want to hear about is accounts from people who actually go there, live there, work there etc. Or heaven forbid, are Chinese. So all the BBC & ilk has to do is put it's customary blue/ grey filter over the camera lens, and use the sombre version of the BBC accent in it's voiceovers, and they can have you believing Shanghai Disneyland is Auschwitz. Because you see, that is what you want to believe. Easily shilled, just as Goebbels told us all of those years ago. Have you found Saddams WMD yet? Keep trying.

Incidentally, in my carefully staged 'propaganda' photos above [], whilst they are all from Xinjiang there is actually one Han. Can any of you social anthropologists guess which one?

If you disagree with my interpretation that’s fine. Making assumptions and misinterpretations based on some one you don’t know, and have never met just puts you on a par with dummies like Cyrille.

A criminal complaint has been filed against several United States and Netherlands brands like Nike, Patagonia and C&A that have been directly or indirectly involved in the forced labour of members of the Uyghur population in China’s Xinjiang province. The European Center for Constitutional Human Rights (ECCHR) has filed a criminal complaint against several fashion brands that they have accused of using forced labour in Xinjiang, China. Reportedly, these companies have their European headquarters in the Netherlands, according to the press release issued by ECCHR.
In its filing, the European Centre for Constitutional and Human Rights (ECCHR) have requested the Dutch Public Prosecutor to investigate the alleged involvement of companies in human rights violations that could amount to crimes against humanity. Barbara van Straaten, Human Rights Lawyer, Prakken d'Oliveira in the press release stated that the idea is not only about national criminal law regarding labour exploitation, however, it is also about widening the complaint to crimes against humanity. Furthermore, Straaten claimed that the crimes committed in Xinjian and statements of politicians prove that “treatment of Uyghurs in Xinjiang as genocide and crimes and crimes against humanity.”

Forced labour of people from Xinjiang

In the press release, the ECCHR also stated that there have been reports about torture, re-education camps, and forced labour in the Xinjiang region in China. Moreover, the ECCHR claimed that the number of such cases has been witnessing an increase since 2017. As per the press release, thousands of people have been reportedly forced to manufacture clothes that are later sold in European countries. Moreover, the European Center for Constitutional and Human Rights stated that these companies have suppliers that have production facilities in Xinjiang.

Corina Ajder, Legal Advisor, ECCHR.in the press release said, “It is unacceptable that European governments criticize China for human rights violations while these companies possibly profit from the exploitation of the Uyghur population. It is high time that responsible corporate officers are investigated and – if necessary - held to account."
The new report comes after last week, the Radio Free Asia reported that Chinese authorities were now forcing Uyghurs from their homeland in Xinjiang province to other parts of the country. It further revealed that the transportation was being done with the help of a job placement company based on the mainland. The placement firm had already transferred over 3,000 Uyghur workers including children as young as 16 years of age from the camps to other parts of the country

Whose "rules" do they adhere to?

    "Who we are

    With Justice. Against Injustice. Justified.

To counter injustice with legal interventions – this is the aim and daily work of the European Center for Constitutional and Human Rights.

ECCHR is an independent, non-profit legal and educational organization dedicated to enforcing civil and human rights worldwide. It was founded in 2007 by Wolfgang Kaleck and other international human rights lawyers to protect and enforce the rights guaranteed by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, as well as other human rights declarations and national constitutions, through legal means.

Together with those affected and partners worldwide, ECCHR uses legal means to end impunity for those responsible for torture, war crimes, sexual and gender-based violence, corporate exploitation and fortressed borders."

The problem is at the first sight of the UNSC intervening to stop genocide he'd be banging on about how bad they are for doing it. He's a bit confused.
