Predictions on Thailand reopening fully to tourists..

When do you reckon things will return to normal in Thailand?
Very slowly is my opinion, maybe a trip next August although nothing is guaranteed.
To much faffing about with tests, quarantine etc
Plus will the tourism infrastructure still be there, many may have moved on to other areas of employment..
    Shalom

I rarely venture into Pattaya City but did so today because of a covid jab and was shocked at seeing 90% of the beer bars gutted with "for rent" signs up.

I foresee a whole new industry with private houses being converted into pool party venues mainly targeting local Hi-So Thais and wealthy foreigner's.

The Pattaya of yesterday is history. Covid and the lockdowns have cleaned the place up which isn't a bad thing.

2Q2022. If they keep the vaccines flowing. And if there isn't a new variant worse than Delta from all these fucking wankers that won't get vaccinated but prefer to be virus incubators instead.

Another issue for foreign tourists from colder climes is face masks.
If they're compulsory and subject to on the spot fines then that's gonna hinder any tourism.

I've seen numerous recent youtube videos and it looks a desolate place with all those homeless and beggars on the streets.

One thing for sure is that Thai's wearing face masks will remain even after the covid thing has disappeared from Thailand.

In fact the only people I see not wearing one are farangs.

What Farang in their right mind would wanna wear a mask all day?
Oh yeah,.. these Geriatric unimunised, unclean, old fogey, coffin dodging, Teakdoor whining expat fuckos whose highlight of the day is reading some fat worzel's captains log about his desk job on a boat

I reckon very few tourists would wanna wear a mask in a heat hotter than Satan's ballsack... and what a great suntan you'd have to take back and show off down the Nags Head.

If you can wear a mask all day, you're the kind of bloke who'd enjoy a good old teabagging.

Oh and my prediction for when Thailand will open up for tourism... Right now if you have the dough. The money grubbing fucks

Well, you don't have to visit Birmingham.

Should have carried on down to Bristol... it's nice down there!

We are considerate people. When on vacation, no matter how much sun, we always wear our face masks.

When will the rest of the world open up and freely allow people to venture out of the country and return without restrictions ?

^Probably 2025... just before the next pandemic arrives

(accdg to scientists, lately we've been having one every 5-6 years, some limited in scope like SARS-1, Ebola or MERS)

Not just Pattaya mate. The once famed for it's nightlife Thailand once had is done and dusted. I don't know what portion of the 20% of tourism economy came because of the "nightlife" but figure it significant. Without it, Thailand is just another tropical tourist destination facing competition with bunches of others. Many which are lower cost than Thailand's not so inexpensive destination these days.

Yep, but it's supply and demand isn't it.

If the demand comes back, you can bet your cotton picking socks that so will the bars. Money money money...

I sure hope sooner than later and things improve more and more....
I feel like the western nations really are hogging the vaccines and more need to be given to SEAsian countries.
I really want to visit Thailand again, when it is safer and easier to do so. <3

It's SiamBioSciense and the corruption in Thailand at the top that is the problem with the rollout.

When Mendip steps of that vessel he'll be looking like Popeye with all that enforced fit camp.

Only difference is he'll be squeezing open a can of baked beans instead of spinach.

You're a lucky man to see dolphins in their natural habitat like that.
    Wonderful creatures.

"Open again" becomes a very interesting term with this place because they cannot make up their minds and stick to it. I am with the few others who stated that the Thai folks will not drop the face mask wearing. Western foreigners can't wait to stop it and in most countries do not wear them now but that may present issues here as the mandates will not be clear meaning people will not travel. Who wants to travel to a hot and humid place and wear a mask everywhere you go? Forget it!!! I personally cannot stand the face mask but have no issue with social distancing.

When will it open as we used to know it here...I do not think until at least late next year. As for the nightlife Norton assessment is spot on, Thailand is not the cheapest place to travel for a tropical get away so it will have a new level of competition. You know when it does "Open", businesses will immediately jack up prices on everything in those high impact tourist locations like Phuket, Koh Samui, Pattaya, Chiang Mai.

Doing 130k on a motorbike wearing a mask but no helmet indicates an interesting set of priorities.

It is not Western nations that stopped Thais getting vaccines. It's not any other nation in fact.

You don’t travel to the Isaan area.

    40%

That was the number I thought would not be wearing a mask before I started. Based on prior bike rides (estimates).

Out of 162 Thais I saw while on my bike ride this early morning, 62 were not wearing a mask. 38%

    The numbers……

100 Thais wearing a mask (includes 13 monks)
62 Thais not wearing a mask

    Extra
Saw 21 street dogs and 2 cats
