Surely most people would accept that the US are a bigger threat to world peace/democracy than the likes of China and Russia?

For all their meddling and crimes against their own people, it's the US that has a history of consistently destabilising countries throughout the world for its own gains. And this is a country that is even more unstable than usual with Trump lurking in the background and his own attempts at thwarting the democratic process.

What a surprise that the 330 mil. - daily under MSM drumming - can be influenced by such non-charisma character (no Reagan/Kennedy), most of them counting daily his lies for 4 years. And that beside those who were influenced by Russian meddling.

How many millions are left not to be influenced by anybody, just by their own brain?

If you do not have any argument against a country, tell us that they have a "dictator".

And what we do with dictators? We remove them...(Mind the destroyed country and the lost lives on both sides.)

However, important is to remove a "dictator", e.g. Fidel, Raul, Ho Chi Min, Saddam, Kim ir sen, Noriega, Assad, Chavez, Maduro, Ortega, Morales, and of course, last not least, the dangerous Mr. Putin...(perhaps few ones I have forgotten)
(Stalin died before we removed him - or did we remove him?, Afghanistan did not have "dictator", but had a caveman...)

And what country is doing that ? What about a country that has made Gulag Archepelego part of the curriculum in school ? Who did that ? Vladimir Putin.

Putin denounces Lenin and Stalin all the time. But you don't know that because your state propaganda DW says the opposite.

So.. the original number of germans having a positive viev of the US was 32 %, and now it has gone up by 20 %.

    Is that 20 % of the 32% or 20 %/points ?

    Bit of a difference

    Welcome back, Hatty.

Would you agree with me that the US are a greater threat to the world than Russia and China?

Despite my disgust towards the aforementioned duo, I find it hard to think of cogent arguments to the contrary.

That's a difficult question to answer as there are so many aspects as to what poses a 'threat'.

I think it's fair to say that the US has provided most of us a very comfortable life since the last century through their financial stimulus packages for Germany, Japan etc... This started the general wealth we see still. The US push for 'democracy' has seen more population-installed governments than ever before. Most of them still exist and thrive.
Of course these weren't completely selfless acts . . . and by 'us' above I clearly exclude Cubans, Guatemalans, Chileans, Persians, most Middle East countries etc...

The Cold War was inevitable and necessary to create a balance between the two 'big boys' and stop one from annihilating the world.

China was busy killing off 100 million of its own people and whining about how unfair life/history etc... was and is.

Now . . . at present I don't see the US as being a greater threat to the world as hopefully a type of normalcy has returned to the White House . . . and installing dictatorships, assassinating elected leaders and other typical CIA-inspired subterfuge seems to have taken a bit of a rest. Even Trump didn't start any more new wars, except the ones at home.
The government is accountable to the population more than the other two are.
    The US has many friends.

Russia will always be a threat . . . to Europe, not on a world-wide scale as they're simply too backward in many ways to do that. But . . . they could destroy Europe in a heartbeat and not care as the government isn't particularly accountable to the population and Russia could survive without the EU . . . poverty and sadness is part of the Russian soul as they've had so much practice in both.
    Russia has few friends

China's role is now regional . . . like a lumbering, drunk Ox it is lurching from one idiocy to another with the arrogance of the new bully - the fat kid who's now sooooo fat that it can hurt.
Earlier on easy prey like Tibet etc... were simply swallowed up and a blind eye turned to those who protested, unless the protestors were their own in which case they simply disappeared and the family received a bill for one bullet in the mail . . . no-one else stepped in because they didn't care and because China wasn't important compared to other places.

Lately China has started to assert itself with an arrogance not seen since the other two big boys started stomping their feet - the main difference is that China also has this innate feeling of inferiority and lingering resentment of what happened centuries ago.
The Chinese leadership has even less accountability to their population than Russia. As long as the Communist Party controls the media, military, police, all levels of government, the economy and anything else they feel like . . . they can do as they wish. Ah yes, keep their people fed and constantly blast their people with propaganda.
    China has even fewer friends.

The greatest threat? Yes, the US . . . but not for the reasons you may think. If the US (which they won't) decides to up sticks and go back to insularity then we're all stuffed as China will gleefully fill its belly with anything it can ft into it and Russia will bully Europe at will.

I always thought of it this way:

What system would I prefer to live under: Western Democratic? Eastern Undemocratic? Communism?

I've done all three and prefer option one.

Sure, lots to discuss and disagree on . . . Asia and the Pacific are now 'enjoying' the fat kid slobbering on it while they use Google and wear jeans, thinking they are free and stuffing their pockets with filthy lucre only to find they've sold their soul.

    Sheesh . . . that was a bit of a long one.

There use to be a tv show years ago that always started off with, "Democracy is a bad form of government, but all the others are so much worse."
